It is a relatively leisurely palace complex with relatively few office functions. It is one of the five ancient palaces in Seoul's history. After paying ₩1000 per person for admission, several cherry trees will welcome you. The unevenness is very interesting, but it is a bit sparse. The palace is mainly green plants. There are several bright and tall trees full of spring under the plain annex palace buildings. There are not many people, which attracts many Korean couples to take traditional wedding photos here. When I looked at it from a distance, the first thought that came to mind was Bellvedere Palace?!! 🏰 Then I visited Changgyeonggung Palace Greenhouse and it was just like, "Wow!" 🌿 Although the scale is relatively small, the exterior emits luxury and sophistication from afar. Inside, there are plants full of refreshing emotions. From small Western and Eastern rhododendrons to babyish plants such as fir and pine trees, the space was full of fun to observe. I bought a ticket for just 1,000 won at a small pavilion and embarked on a unique journey of exploration. Upon entering the small gate, the first thing I saw was the placenta chamber of King Seongjong. I was curious, as it was my first time hearing about it. It turned out to be a place where placentas were buried. This Korean custom is quite interesting and adds a unique touch to the ancient palace. As I continued walking, the scenery became more and more enchanting. There was a lake with rippling water, a garden full of greenery, and a palace area that, though not large, was exquisite in every detail. There were no bustling crowds or noisy chatter, just a serene environment that instantly calmed my mind. As I strolled through the palace, I could feel the weight of history and the beauty of tranquility with every step, as if time had slowed down. Compared to other popular attractions, the peace and comfort of Changgyeonggung Palace is especially precious. As I walked out of the main gate and along the main road, the sun shone down, and though it was a bit hot, I felt content as I recalled the leisurely time I spent at Changgyeonggung Palace. I spent the entire morning strolling through this vibrant space, quietly admiring the details of each plant and feeling the perfect blend of nature and architecture. In the afternoon, I walked along the lakeside within the palace, with a gentle breeze brushing my face, bringing an unprecedented sense of peace to my mind. Day 2 On the second morning, I returned to Changgyeonggung Palace, this time choosing the paths around the palace to explore more hidden corners. Walking along the stone paths, I discovered many intricately carved ancient wells and pavilions, seemingly witnessing the daily life of the royal court. Later, I visited the nearby Jongmyo Shrine, feeling its solemn and sacred atmosphere, further experiencing the cultural essence of the Joseon era. In the afternoon, I returned to the Changgyeonggung Greenhouse, sitting quietly on a bench beside the greenhouse, reading a book about the palace's history, letting the sunlight filter through the glass and envelop me in greenery. The two-day itinerary felt like a journey of the soul. The Changgyeonggung Greenhouse left a deep impression with its unique natural beauty, while the entire palace stood as a microcosm of culture and history, making it unforgettable.

It's autumn season again and one of the best places to view autumn foliage is Changgyeonggung Palace. The side garden of the palace is full of maple trees, and in autumn, the leaves turn from green to glittering red and orange. The best place to take pictures is by the lake, where you can capture the reflections of the maple foliage in the water. This year, autumn arrived late, so the peak foliage happens at the end of November, but we are lucky to be able to catch it. We consider ourselves blessed to have caught the right timing to view them.

Tip: if you rent hanbok - entrance to all main palaces is for free (and to the secret garden as well). Note that some of the most popular palaces are closed one on Monday, another one on Tuesday, so I really advise to avoid those two days. Wearing a traditional Korean hanbok may sound waaaay too touristy and cheesy but it actually did not feel that way. Normally Im not someone to fall for things like that but in Seoul I saw sooo many Koreans visiting historical sights in hanboks that Ive talked my friend into that and we went for a hanbook rental! Changgyeonggung Palace is one of the various palaces you can visit while in Seoul, South Korea. Changgyeonggung Palace was built in 1483 on the site of Suganggug Place where King Sejong built and it was originally a part of Changdeokgung Palace without any boundary in between, and it was called Donggwol, or the East Palace. Changgyeonggung Palace was mainly used as living quarters of the of the Royal family. It regained its name as Changgyeonggung Palace in 1983. You can visit the site everyday except for Monday. I didn't realize there were so many historical sites in our country. Even though it's raining, the dense trees create a very picturesque and healing atmosphere. It's a great day to take a walk with your child, and the entrance fee is cheap. I highly recommend visiting. #cherryblossom2024 A little known spot right next to Changdeokgung is Changyeonggung where rows of cherry blossom trees are planted at the back near the veranda areas. Not only do they make for a good sight to shoot photos, they’re pretty shady and great for picnic photos. Pro tip: remember to wear a hanbok in order to gain access to both adjacent palaces for free!

Changdeokgung was used as the secondary palace to Gyeongbokgung for 200 years, but after the palaces were burnt down during the Japanese invasion in the late 16th century, it was the first to be reconstructed and since then served as the main seat of the dynasty for 250 years.

Changgyeongung Palace is one of 5 Joseon dynasty palaces in Seoul. It's set in the same enormous park where's the more famous and beautiful Changdeokgung Palace and it is connected with it. Changgyeongung is included in the "Royal Palace Pass" which for a low fee of 10.000 Won gives access to all 5 palaces (kids under 16 are free). You enter the Palace from the eastern Honghwamun gate (bus stop right across it) or from the Changdeokgung Palace if you visited it first. Changgyeongung Palace consists of four palaces and is little bit younger than others dating back to 15c. In our opinion it was the least interesting Palace we saw, and if you visit it after other Palaces it might be underwhelming, yet still beautiful. TIPS: - free English guided tour at 11 AM (and one afternoon, check on website), - excellent photo op of Seoul from the top of Palace complex staircase.

📝Korean Travel Notes Part 13: Changgyeonggung Palace Greenhouse📝 🎞️🎞️🎞️🎞️ The ill-fated Changgyeonggung Palace was transformed into a zoo and botanical garden during the Japanese colonial period. The glass greenhouse there is a product of that era and is the earliest botanical garden in Korea, built in 1909. 🖼️🖼️🖼️🖼️ The entire glass greenhouse still doesn't look outdated even today, and it even looks a bit dreamy in the beautiful Changgyeonggung Palace garden. I don't know if it's a filming location for a Korean drama, but it feels strangely familiar. Visited on September 15, 2019

📝Korea Travel Notes part12: Changgyeonggung📝 🎞️🎞️🎞️🎞️ Changgyeonggung is the third palace built after Gyeongbokgung and Changdeokgung, mainly for the use of the royal elders. The purpose of building Changgyeonggung was to expand the living space, not for the consideration of handling government affairs, so the palace is different from the previous two palaces in terms of scale and layout. The widely circulated stories of Jang Hui-bin and Queen Inhyeon, King Yeongjo and Crown Prince Sado all took place in Changgyeonggung. 🖼️🖼️🖼️🖼️ The palace was built in 1483, later destroyed in the Japanese invasions of Korea, and Changgyeonggung was rebuilt by Gwanghaegun in 1616. ⚠️The Myeongjeongjeon that can be seen today is the original from 1616, and it is over 400 years old today⚠️. Having already visited Gyeongbokgung and Changdeokgung, I originally thought that Changgyeonggung would not be too interesting, but the actual visit was quite amazing. Especially the back mountain and garden part, the scenery is super good, and I met many Koreans taking wedding photos here. Visited on September 15, 2019

Many locals are walking by the lake, the trees on the back mountain are dense, and you can occasionally encounter an ancient tower or stele, and the pavilion is faintly visible in the shade of the trees. ☀️☀️☀️☀ The even better part is the pleasant climate.
