Shuiliandong, located in Huaguoshan, Lianyungang, is famous overseas because of Journey to the West. Wu Chengen was inspired by this Shuiliandong. In Journey to the West, he provided an activity place with a strong mythological color for the early Monkey King. Therefore, there are many Shuiliandong all over the country, but they were all named after the popularity of Journey to the West. Only this one existed before the popularity of Journey to the West. In a stele written by Zhang Chaorui, a native of Haizhou in the Ming Dynasty for Sanyuan Palace, it was recorded that Shuiliandong was a must-visit place for pilgrims. The four big characters "High Mountain and Flowing Water" on the stone wall were written by Wang Tong, the governor of Haizhou, in the 23rd year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty (1544), when Journey to the West had not yet been published. Shuiliandong is a natural fissure cave with an artificial tunnel leading to the lower platform. There are many precious inscriptions in front of the cave entrance. Among them, "Yinxin Stone House" was written by Emperor Daoguang of the Qing Dynasty and given to Tao Shu, the Prince's Guardian, Minister of War, and Governor-General of Liangjiang. It is said that in the 12th year of Daoguang (1832), Tao Shu was ordered to come to Haizhou to reform the salt administration, and his achievements were remarkable, which turned the Qing Dynasty's treasury from deficit to profit, and a short period of revival appeared. Therefore, the emperor gave him the honor of writing the name of the room. Three years later, Tao Shu came to Haizhou again as an imperial envoy to inspect the results of the salt administration reform, and initiated the repair of the Yuntaishan Temple Guard, and built a large-scale project, which made the scenic area in this area suddenly look brand new. In order to commemorate his achievements, the locals placed the imperial calligraphy "Yinxin Stone House" next to the Water Curtain Cave. The two words "Lingquan" were written by Shi Liangcai, the governor of Jiaqing during the reign of Jiaqing. "Lingquan" refers to the small square well in the cave. Although the well is not big, it has water all year round and does not dry up during severe droughts. According to folk legend, the sea eye leading to the Dragon Palace in the East China Sea refers to it.
