This place truly presented an unforgettable landscape. When I first arrived, the huge rock masses that unfolded before my eyes were so magnificent and beautiful that it was hard to describe in words. Gray and mossy rocks stretched endlessly, and soft green hills harmonized between them, making me feel the wonder of nature. It was such a unique terrain that it felt like I was on another planet, not Earth. In particular, as I walked around here, scenes from the movie The Lord of the Rings that I saw as a child came to mind. It seemed like the mysterious hills and piles of stones where the hobbits ran around in the movie were right before my eyes. I found out that Castle Hill was actually used as a filming location for movies like The Lord of the Rings and The Chronicles of Narnia. The moment I learned that, my childhood memories and reality overlapped, and I felt a strange excitement. I felt like I was walking through the world of that movie, and that excitement did not leave me throughout my trip. As I walked between the rocks and the wind gently brushed my face, I felt a sense of peace as if I was becoming one with nature. The rocks scattered here and there had different shapes and sizes, each of which seemed to have its own story. Some rocks stood tall like huge castles, while others were rounded and looked like works of art carved by someone. The shadows and colors created by sunlight hitting the rock surface changed with time, presenting another charm. Castle Hill was more than just a beautiful landscape. While standing there, a sense of awe welled up deep in my heart, and I found myself becoming infinitely small in front of the grandeur of nature. A must-visit destination in the South Island of New Zealand is the “Castle Hill” rock field. It’s so beautiful! 🤩 (Near Christchurch) We really like this place. It’s an amazing rock field with big, strange-looking rocks everywhere. Every corner is beautiful and spectacular. It takes quite a while to walk. The path is not steep and is easy to walk. 🗿: We recommend leaving plenty of time, about 1-2 hours, because it’s wide and beautiful. Castle Hill is located next to Arthur’s Pass and was given its name because the limestone boulders look like a run-down medieval stone castle. There isn't any big castle! The boulders are huge and you will feel tiny. It is amazing to see theae natural wonders. The site is accessible via the highway, there are quite many people in the afternoon. When I was there, I saw school children visiting too! So I recommend coming early in the morning and you can have pictures without the crowd. Allow 2-3 hours to explore and fully immerse yourself in the beauty.

The trail takes you through a scenic valley and onto a limestone rock formation, featuring distinctive castle-like boulders. While the trek is suitable for families with kids, it's essential to note that some sections involve scrambling over rocks and navigating steep inclines.
