THE FAMOUS BOYANA CHURCH!
Located on the outskirts of Sofia, Boyana Church consists of three buildings. The eastern church was built in the 10th century, then enlarged at the beginning of the 13th century by Sebastocrator Kaloyan, who ordered a second two storey building to be erected next to it. The frescoes in this second church, painted in 1259, make it one of the most important collections of medieval paintings. The ensemble is completed by a third church, built at the beginning of the 19th century. This site is one of the most complete and perfectly preserved monuments of east European medieval art.

THE VACATIONER!
Trip to Sofia, Bulgaria 🇧🇬
It was a trip to Sofia, Bulgaria. Just to share some of my favourite places and restaurants.
Upon arrival, we were exploring the City Center. We visited Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. One of the largest Eastern Orthodox cathedrals in the world, built in the early 20th century as a memorial to Russian soldiers who died during the Russo-Turkish War.
The Entrance Fee is free but donations will be appreciated.
📍pl. "Sveti Aleksandar Nevski", 1000 Sofia Center, Sofia
We also visited the St. Sofia Church. The second oldest church in Sofia, dating back to the 6th century. It gave the city its name.
If you want to visit the church, see the interior of the church, you will need to pay for Entrance Fee: BGN 6 (approximately €3). As for us, we just walked around the churh only.
📍ul. "Parizh" 2, 1000 Sofia Center, Sofia
After walking around the church, we visited a restaurant nearby, Made in Home. They served Bulgarian and Mediterranean food. All the food were very good and the price range was around €10-€20 per person. Which is very reasonable as the food and services were both really good.
📍ul. "Angel Kanchev" 30A, 1000 Sofia Center, Sofia
We also visited the National Art Gallery & Ethnographic Museum. Housed in the former royal palace, these museums showcase Bulgarian art and culture.
We paid for the rntrance fee of BGN 6 (approximately €3). Very worth as you can see many art pieces inside 😍
📍pl. "Knyaz Aleksandar I" 1, 1000 Sofia Center, Sofia
We also went to Boyana Church ⛪️ A UNESCO World Heritage site, this medieval Bulgarian Orthodox church features stunning frescoes from the 13th century.
The rntrance fee was BGN 10 (approximately €5), slightly higher as compared to other church. But it is definitely worth to visit and we were amazed my the interior design of the church.
📍ul. "Boyansko Ezero" 3, 1616 Sofia
Would also like to recommend my favorite restaurant in Sofia, Victoria Boyan. They served Italian and European. Their service was so good. The lady recommended us not only food but places to visit in Sofia. Do try out their dessert 🍨 after meal. It was really delicious 😍😍😍 It was around €15-€30 per person and we think it was reasonable.
📍ul. "Ivanitsa Danchev" 24, 1616 Sofia
We also went to National Museum of History. The largest museum in Bulgaria, showcasing the country's history from prehistoric times to the present. The entrance fee was BGN 10 (approximately €5). We all really love to visit historical sites and museums so my recommendations are mostly historical related 😂
Last but not least, I would also recommend you to visit Vitosha Boulevar. Sofia's main shopping street, ideal for a leisurely stroll, shopping, and “people-watching”.
This is definitely as good place if you are buying souvenirs and gifts 🎁

Just had the most incredible visit to Boyana Church in Sofia! 🏰 The entrance fee, 10 leva, is a small price to pay for the artistic marvels within. #BoyanaChurch #SofiaGems
The church is a hidden treasure, adorned with breathtaking frescoes from different periods. The level of detail is mind-blowing – it felt like stepping into a medieval masterpiece. 🎨✨
After immersing myself in the art, I took a short walk to the Vitosha Mountain. The scenery is spectacular, and it's a great spot for nature lovers. 🏞️🚶
Craving a bite? Hit up Shtastlivetza for some authentic Bulgarian cuisine. The traditional dishes are a delicious way to wrap up the cultural and historical journey. 🍲🥂
Boyana Church is an absolute must-visit for art enthusiasts and history buffs. It's a UNESCO gem that transports you through time and showcases Bulgaria's rich cultural heritage. #CulturalJourney #SofiaArtistry
