DIY Sight-seeing in Bintan Island

Part of my birthday staycation in Bintan last April, we dedicated a chunk of our 2nd day going around tourist spots of our liking. I booked a private car charter for 6 hours and it costed us around 80sgd including tips for the driver. Knowing that our accommodation is far from the usual tourist spots, we decided to start the day early by leaving right after breakfast. The driver picked us up and off we went to our first location, which was 500 Lohan Temple. The driver accompanied us inside the temple and helped us pay for the entrance ticket. There were not many people as it was still early, and it was hot! Our driver also helped took photos of me and my sister together. The temple was interesting as it featured 500 life-size statues with different facial expressions. Second location is Gurun Pasir Bintan aka as Bintan Desert and Blue Lake. This place was amazing! The very vibrant colour of the blue lake against the white sandy hills was so pretty. There are several activities available to do here. This was our favourite place. Lots of photo ops here with our driver offering to take photos of us again. Look for the 2D animals in the sandy hills haha! It can get very hot though so please be hydrated when visiting. There are many food and drink stalls here so don’t fret. The driver took us to a stall that sells coconut juice, sat, drank, and rested for a bit. Last location is Trikora beach. According to reviews, this beach boasts of white sand and clear blue water. Both were true but my issue was that the shore was dirty. We didn’t know if it was just that part of the shore since it’s a long stretch. It was still very pretty though. It was the beachfront of the restaurant Pizza Casa Italia where we had our late lunch. This restaurant has very good reviews which convinced me to try when we visit Bintan. We noticed there were more local families eating here and having a get-together than tourists. We loved the pizza, it was so filling even though it’s thin crust and tasted delicious. We enjoyed our lunch especially with the beach as the view. The driver dropped us off in our hotel before the supposed 6-hour charter because we arrived early. Still wasn’t an issue since we were very tired and hot due to the weather. #bintan Senggiling beach is located in Bintan Island, 45 km from the capital city Tanjungpinang. You will have to travel around 1~1.5 hours to reach this beautiful beach. The water is very blue and clear and since not many people know about this beach yet, the atmosphere is very quiet and relaxing. The beach is also still very clean and the sand is super soft. Senggiling beach is really suitable for one who wants a peaceful leisure time. I saw some people go camping and bring tent here! So it's also an option for you who are adventerous to go camping at the beach. Travel tips: 1.The wave in senggiling beach is very weak most of the times, but still, be careful when swimming since the wind can be quite strong sometimes. 2. No bathroom here, so please be prepared! 3.I think it is better if you could bring local friend or people who know the beach very well, since it is located quite far from the city center, and the access might be difficult if you are not familiar with the route. 4. Hidden Gem at Bintan Indah Mall

Address: Bintan Indah Mall, Tanjungpinang Kota, Tanjung Pinang Kota, Tanjung Pinang City, Riau Islands, Indonesia A rundown mall a couple minutes walk from Tanjung Pinang Harbour. We were starving after a long ride from Singapore, and we stumbled across this local foodcourt while trying to escape the taxi drivers. Right at the enterance of the mall sits a small food court selling local delights like mee siam, laksa, soto ayam, fresh juice and more! The prices ranges from 25k-35k. We ordered:- 1. Fish noodle soup 8/10 - the noodle was tasteless but the soup was very tasty! It contains fishball, fishcakes amd fish paste bitter gourd. The portion was generous too! 2. Soto ayam 6/10 - very heavy on msg! It tasted like mee goreng with soto ayam meggi soup. It's one of the popular dish there but I would give it pass if you're not an msg fan! Overall a nice local experience I would give it a try if you're in the area.

The aptly named Mayang Sari Beach Resort -- "mayang" means palm blossom and "sari" means flower essence in Indonesian -- is a beachside property that's part of the Nirwana Gardens complex, which comprises five total hotels. The main tourist destination on Bintan Island, from the direction of the Sri Bintan Pura Harbor and Raja Haji Fisabilillah Airport in Tanjungpinang, you will be treated to the atmosphere of the white sandy coast typical of Trikora Beach. From downtown Tanjungpinang, this beach is about 45 kilometers. The length reaches 25 kilometers and is divided into four parts, namely Trikora 1, Trikora 2, Trikora 3 and Trikora 4. At the beginning of Trikora Beach, there are no hotels or similar accommodations. So seeing this beach feels loose, there is no barrier. However, at Trikora 3 and Trikora 4 beaches, hotels are lined up on the beach. Generally also cleaner because the beach is managed by the hotel management. At Trikora 3 and Trikora 4 beaches, the beach is also decorated with large granite stones. There is even this type of stone that is far into the middle of the sea. Great 2023; welcoming a better 2024

Visited to Bintan in Oct 2024. The Bintan Desert and Blue lake is super hot during afternoon, but the view is very nice, the photos taken are great. The seafood dinner that recommended by the tour guide was cheap and delicious. We also went for a fireflies tour, initially we tried to capture the photo of the fireflies but it does not look clearly through the camera, we decided to put down the camera and enjoy the natural with our eyes. Cool air, chit chat with the tour guide, beautiful scenes with starry sky and fireflies around. Awesome and unforgettable experience. In year 2024, I wish to continue exploring new adventures with my girl to Korea or Japan. Kids loved doing ATV ride and jumping across the dunes. The lake is greenish and blue but the platform for taking pictures is well set. Bintan resort you'll surely come back for!

My sister and I stayed at The Residence Bintan for 3D2N for my birthday celebration last April. We stayed at the Upper Sea View Suite. Everything from that trip was perfect. My only gripe was that we wished we could have stayed longer. The resort's location is secluded perfect for that much needed break from work. This would require 1.5 hrs. of travel from the ferry terminal, we did not mind though as we just slept thru the whole free shuttle ride with free cookies, water, & cold towel. Once arrived, we were just in awe of the breathtaking views everywhere in the resort. Check-in was relatively smooth and easy. A miniscule gripe for me was that we weren't offered the welcome drinks as we step in the lobby and wait for someone to check us in, unlike the other guests that arrived with us. Doesn't really diminish the overall satisfaction with the service and our stay though. Reception staff were very friendly. We were eventually offered the drinks when I walked up to the counter and did the check-in. Our suite was very spacious & beautifully designed. I enjoyed the hammock and the tub. The sunrise and sunset view from the outside deck was very pretty. The suite also comes with 2 bicycles for you to use as the resort is really massive. We did not use it though since we didn't know how to ride bikes haha. Instead, we used the free buggy service a lot of times. There were a lot of complimentary activities but what I really enjoyed was the private beach especially during low tide. View from the pool is crazy! Food and drinks were good. We tried all the dining options available. Breakfast spread was good! We dined at Rica Rica, food was great! 5 stars! We dined at the Dining Room, food was also good. The drinks at the pool bar were also nice, + points for the live music! Rimbun grill buffet was definitely worth it. The setting was very whimsical with fairy lights dining by the sea at night. We also tried the afternoon tea they offered. The staff also delivers fruit and snacks to our suite. Yum! I really want to commend the service. Staff were all smiles and very friendly. My introvert self took a step back and just enjoyed the small talks and greetings from the staff.
