With the passport, you can freely view the artworks. Transportation: You can take a ferry from Takamatsu Port to Naoshima. There are high-speed ferries and regular ferries. The most cost-effective option is to buy an unlimited 3-day ferry pass. The earliest ferry from Takamatsu departs at 8:12 AM, and the latest return is at 5:00 PM. You can check the specific schedule at the ferry boarding area. Island Transportation: On the island, you can take a bus or rent a bicycle at the port. Buses are infrequent and not very convenient for getting around. Although the island is small, there is a hilly area, so I recommend renting an "electric bicycle"! I visited the Benesse Museum located in Naoshima, Kagawa Prefecture. A museum I've always wanted to visit. Even for someone like me who isn't particularly interested in paintings, this museum is enjoyable. There are colorful objects on the coast a bit away from the museum building. It's a recommended photo spot if you visit Naoshima. I traveled to Naoshima by ferry from Okayama Prefecture and used the bus on the island. After getting off at the bus stop, it's a short walk to this spot. You can transfer to the Benesse Museum bus to get to the museum. Since the museum requires reservations, I recommend booking as soon as you decide to visit Naoshima.

We spent a day taking in the most inspiring art installations nestled in nature and amazing architecture. Not only do you just see the installation but it’s a powerful, immersive experience. Well worth a visit as the experience is really unique not to be missed! My rating of this attraction: 4 ⭐️ out of 5!

The area around the Benesse House Museum is privately owned, so you cannot go there by car. You can either take the bus or walk. I left my bike at the Chichu Art Museum and took a bus from there to the museum. There is plenty to see both inside and outside the museum. Visit the Besesse House Art Museum at the Setouchi Art Festival. The museum is connected to the hotel on a hillside with two restaurants, the Japanese and Western styles. I once checked the hotel room of the official website. The most popular is Oval. The interior is decorated with artworks. There are a total of six rooms. I booked it very early. There are more Park rooms (but I hesitated later...), the beach has a good view. For the Seto Inland Sea, it is a family room for four people. There are also a few artworks outside the museum. I think it should not be full, but it doesn't matter, maybe I will go again in the future?

When it comes to going to Japan in the New Year, it is either buying a blessing bag or not paying much attention to the usual travel purposes such as shopping for food. It is not uncomfortable to spend time in the hotel and see what sunsets are. This time I chose to live at the Benesse House in Naoshima. Designed by Tadao Ando, the Benesse House has four buildings: the Museum and Hotel Museum opened in 1992, Oval in 1995, and Park and Beach opened in 2006. In the rooms and buildings, you can see the artworks displayed, thus creating an experience of art, architecture, nature and life. The price of Beach starts at 70,000 yen and is in front of the beach and the Seto Inland Sea. The room is large and has 61 square meters. This room is decorated with the artwork of Liu Xingdian. There is also an artist's album on the desk for reading. After dinner, come to lounge, look at red and white, eat bowls of new year soba noodles. Before midnight, everyone came to the Yasaka Shrine to worship. Then count down at the guardian shrine. Drive to the top of the mountain to welcome the first sunshine of the New Year. After the whole event, I went back to the room and slept for a few hours, then went for a walk from the beach to eat breakfast, drink Tusu wine, and experienced such a traditional Japanese New Year project.
