A lesson in Histroy

#myhiddengems I was glad to be part of a tour that had a very good guide. This made the trip very enriching with so much history being revealed. Firstly the complex in which both the fortress and the park are, is a very beautiful location by the confluence of two rivers. Our guided tour started in the Upper Town, where the imposing walls and towers provided a sense of defense. There are various bastions, gates, and the impressive Clock Tower. The military museum, located within the fortress was very captivating with its extensive collection of artifacts, weapons, and exhibits detailing Serbia’s military history. On the whole this is a historically rich site dating back to the Romans. The other things in the complex like the park too are significant with its own unique offering. It has a beautiful space with well-maintained gardens, walking paths, and plenty of spots for picnics and relaxation. From the fortress you will have a spectacular view of the city and the rivers. The Ćevapi (grilled minced meat) was really delicious 😍 💰 Around 1000 RSD (8 EUR) 📍Skadarska 32, 11000 Belgrade We also visited Petrovaradin Fortress. Which also known as the "Gibraltar of the Danube," this fortress offers stunning views and historical insights. The entrance was free and I would strongly recommend you to visit this place. 📍Petrovaradin, Novi Sad We then explored the Novi Sad City Museum. The museum provides a deep dive into the history and culture of Novi Sad. 📍Dunavska 35, Novi Sad 💰Around 300 RSD (2.5 EUR) We also explored the Danube Park. A beautiful park perfect for a relaxing evening stroll. 📍Dunavska, Novi Sad We also visited Niš Fortress. A well-preserved Ottoman fortress located on the right bank of the Nišava River. If you were there in the morning, you can check out the, Stambolijski Restoran. We tried their Proja (cornbread). I think the two most comfortable places in Serbia are on the fortress by the blue Danube to watch the sunset The afterglow of the sunset and the blue river water complement each other I recommend two places: Novi Sad's Petrovaradin Fortress's Clock, Belgrade Fortress I highly recommend Petrovaradin Fortress because there is a riverside viewing restaurant in the fortress, where you can sit and enjoy the sunset while dining, or have a cup of coffee or tea in the afternoon, and stare at the Danube, the scenery is superb. Next, I recommend Belgrade Fortress, where the fortress is bigger, and those who are not afraid of heights can take a seat in a row, many people come here to watch the sunset, but good weather here is a matter of luck, I waited for 7 days and only got 1 day of good weather

(Postcards cost 35-60 dinars, and one postcard requires 112 stamps) 4️⃣ National Assembly of Serbia Located opposite the post office, with a Starbucks nearby where you can sit and rest. 5️⃣ Nikola Tesla Museum The entrance fee is 600 dinars, and the museum is mainly dedicated to commemorating this great scientist. 6️⃣ Kneza Mihaila The most famous shopping street in Belgrade, with brightly colored buildings, very beautiful. At the end of the street, there is a tourist center where you can get a map. There are many bookstores and souvenir shops along the street to browse. 7️⃣ Belgrade Fortress A castle located at the very north of the 6️⃣ shopping street, interesting for those who are into history, with an entrance fee of 120 dinars.

Tesla's hometown, places named after Tesla are everywhere

Belgrade, known as the key to the Balkans due to its unique geographical location, has recorded more than 150 wars, has been destroyed and rebuilt many times, the last time was the big bombing in 1999, thousands of people died in the city, tens of thousands of homes were destroyed, in order to protect the Branko Bridge on the Sava River and the Pancevo Bridge on the Danube, thousands of citizens holding 'TARGET' signs and candles, walked onto the bridge, formed a human shield, it was quite tragic.        Kalemegdan Castle is located at the commanding heights of the old city, it is a military fortress, facing the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers, overlooking the two rivers from the castle, the view is open, the scenery is beautiful, this castle has also been destroyed many times, and constantly rebuilt, witnessed the history of Belgrade, and is also a symbol of this city. It's easy to dismiss Serbia and Belgrade as just another small country in Europe, but this country was for a long time the epicenter that linked Europe and Asia, ad well as the religious hub of Europe. What's more amazing is that this rich history can be seen everywhere in the city and country- from the food, buildings, churches and museums you can't help, but feel your walking into the past.
