#chinatrip We spent half a day exploring Beitou district while travelling to Taipei and this is such a quiet and serene destination to visit! It is just a 30minutes train ride from Taipei Main Station via red line, which is an easily accessible and reachable destination. We then took another train ride to Xinbeitou station which is nearer to all of the touristy spots. Famous for its natural wonder of hot springs, the Beitou district is full of hot springs resorts, public baths and even museum dedicated for hot springs culture, such a unique place to visit. Would recommend to spend a night at their hot spring resort, especially during winter. Some of the popular destination that we visit include the Beitou Park, Beitou hot spring museum, Thermal Valley and the beautiful Beitou library. The district is filled with lush greeneries and is really calm and slow paced! Lovely place to visit!

I spent my morning bathing in one of the Hot Spring Resorts in Beitou Thermal Valley. After that, I decided to spend my afternoon in Beitou Hot Spring Museum. I really appreciated this museum because they have English explanations on all sections, because I don't read any Mandarin. This museum provides a well-explained bathing history of the previous generations. Admission is free! #wintergetaway

When I came to Taiwan's Beitou, I realized that the original hot springs also had their own museum. The building of the Beitou Hot Springs Museum itself is a former public hot spring bath. It was built in 1913. It was the largest public bath in East Asia at that time. It attracted the Japanese Crown Prince and Sun Yat-sen. The museum's architecture uses a Japanese-style wooden structure, but the exterior looks more like an English country house. The calm red brick wall is matched with the black tile and the green shade. It is a good place to relax. The museum covers an area of about 700 pings. It is backed by the green hills. The winding path is quiet, the flowers and trees are sparse, and the style is novel and unique. In 1997, under the active enthusiasm of enthusiastic people, it was designated as a third-class cultural relics in Taiwan and was converted into the Beitou Hot Spring Museum. #weekendgetaways 📍Beitou Hot Spring Museum, Taipei Decided to take a half day trip to BeiTou which is famous for their hot springs, and it was such a great decision! We visited their hot spring museum, which is nearby the New BeiTou station! It is such a well built and nice museum, explaining the history and cultures of the hot springs in Taipei. There is no entrance fee required, and it was giving some vibes as it we were about to go to hot springs, with the in house slippers, the wide straw mat seating area, the small benches. There are a few sections in the museum, very instagramable and interesting. Lovely place to spend some time!

By the end of February, the Yaezakura cherry blossoms are blooming competitively, and when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, the misty clouds surround the green hills, and soaking in a sulfur hot spring is like a springtime encounter. 🌸 Flower Viewing Spots: Yangmingshan Flower Clock (Pic 2-7) Yangmingshan Fountain (Pic 1) Yangmingshan Second Parking Lot (Pic 9) 🚍 How to get there: Take the small 8 bus from the Jiantan MRT station, or take the 129/small 9 bus from the Beitou MRT station to reach the above flower viewing spots. 📝 Flower Viewing Tips: 1⃣ The Yangmingshan Flower Clock is planted along the stream with colorful azaleas, which bloom at the end of February together with the early cherry blossoms, creating a layered effect. 2⃣ The Yangmingshan Fountain is tightly surrounded by Yaezakura cherry blossoms, resembling light pink clouds, and the combination with the fountain is very photogenic. 3⃣ The cherry blossoms at the Second Parking Lot bloom earlier, and by the time of visit, it is nearing the end of the flower season. 4⃣ The bus schedule provided by Google Maps for the Yangmingshan area is not accurate; wait for the bus based on the electronic display. 5⃣ Yangmingshan also has other nice attractions such as Xiaoyoukeng and Qixing Mountain (my visit failed due to heavy fog at the mountain top). A large amount of sulfur vapor spews from the ground, accompanied by boiling and erupting spring water, making a hissing sound, a spectacular scene. 🏢 Taipei 101: After the tour, I checked in at several classic spots of Taipei 101. 1⃣ Takeuchi Izakaya (Pic 12-13), walk south for 10 minutes from Exit 2 of the Xiangshan MRT station to compress the towering skyscraper and old house into one picture, creating a beauty of old and new integration. 2⃣ Xiangshan (Pic 14-16), enter the mountain from the 'Xiangshan Trail' entrance on Google Maps, choose the right path at the first fork, and reach the photography platform in 15 minutes. But it is recommended to continue walking up for 10 minutes to the Six Giant Rocks viewing platform, where the view is more open. The mountain trail is all stone steps with handrails and street lights, making climbing effortless.
