Best Things to DoNo.15 of Best Things to Do in Venice

The Church of Our Lady of Ankon is the masterpiece of Venetian Baroque artist Baldasare Longena. Every year on November 21, the Venetians line up in a concentrated line, and go from St. Mark's Square to the Church of Our Lady of Ankang via the pontoon to celebrate the Virgin Mary's Day and give thanks to the Virgin Mary. It was built in the 17th century, when the great plague of Milan spread to Venice, killing more than one-third of the city's population, and the Venetians believed that the Virgin Mary had blessed them and saved them in honor of the Virgin Mary. Venice built this church. The church, referred to as "Salute" for short, is located in the scenic narrow and sharp corner between the Grand Canal of Venice and the Port of San Marco in the Venice Lagoon, which can be seen by anyone entering Piazza San Marco from the waterway. It has the status of a secondary sanctuary, and its unique decorative shape and location make it one of the most photogenic churches in Italy. The main body of the church is an octagonal church with a huge dome, surrounded by six chapels. In the sacristy room facing the main altar, there are the frescoes "David and Goliath" depicting the stories of the Old Testament, the ceiling frescoes created by Titian, the "father of Western oil painting", and Tintoret, a representative of the Venetian school of painting. The mural "Ghana's Wedding" created by Tuo is very worthwhile to stop and appreciate. The interior of the church has a nave, three chapels, and a colorful marble floor. The middle of the floor is designed with a pattern of five roses. The magnificent altar designed by Longhena is especially gorgeous. To its right is Tintoretto's Le Nozzedi Cana, while the church The ceiling of the annexe is decorated with paintings by Titian.
