Bao Mo Garden is really crowded on weekends!! This time, a weekday trip turned out to be a lucky break for me.
Reservation tips: Tickets for Bao Mo Garden can be purchased on various platforms~
Bao Mo Garden, as the residence of the Bao family in the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China, is too vast! It combines Qing official culture, Lingnan horticulture, Lingnan ancient architecture, characteristics of the Pearl River Delta water towns, and a collection of artistic masterpieces from ancient and modern times~
The ancient buildings and gardens in the park are ingeniously integrated, with corridors connecting the whole garden. More than thirty stone bridges span over the picturesque rivers and lakes, with a hundred thousand koi fish turning the waters into a sea of red waves, making the water scenery truly exceptional.
The entire Bao Mo Garden is a palace of garden art, where you can enjoy the beauty of Lingnan gardens, absorb national culture, and broaden your horizons.
Zhao Tailai Art Palace
Each collection piece is very large.
The Maitreya Buddha and the seated statue of Guan Yu on the first floor are truly awe-inspiring.

If history and beautiful walks are your thing
Baomo garden in the Panyu district of Guangzhou is a beautiful and peaceful retreat from the city.
The garden features an abundance of big ponds filled with fish, a rose garden, various old trees and traditional chinese style buildings to gaze at while you meander around.
There is a restaurant on site and plenty of little shops just outside the gate.
Prices were around 50rmb per adult and it closes at 5pm / 5.30 for exiting the grounds.
We went late in the afternoon. There weren’t many people and the sun was beginning to set which added to the beauty 😍 if pictures are your thing then id suggest going at this time 😍

Baomoyuan is like a classical Chinese garden on steroids. If Suzhou has the Humble Administrator's Garden, this might be the Ostentatious Plenipotentiary's Garden.
Besides being very large, it has some rather untraditional elements, like tackily lit grottoes and a children's wading pool. For the most part, though, it follows the conventions of classical architecture and design. Highlights include exquisite haut relief carvings, a vibrant rose garden and hundreds of colourful koi fish.
Located on the outskirts of Panyu District, Guangzhou, a visit here could be combined with a trip to nearby Daliang in Shunde, Foshan or Shawan Old Town in Panyu.
A combination ticket is available for Baomoyuan and the neighbouring Nanyueyuan 南粤苑, another garden.

It was a trip to Guangzhou, China with family. For our second trip to Guangzhou, we sought out quieter, less crowded destinations perfect for photography 📸 These hidden gems offered a more intimate glimpse into the city’s culture and charm ✨
We visited Yuntai Garden early in the morning ☀️ when the flowers 💐 were in full bloom, and the crowds were minimal. This tranquil garden is a photographer’s haven with vibrant floral displays, stone pathways, and a peaceful atmosphere. We recommend arriving right after opening hours to capture the serene beauty 🙌
📍Baiyun Mountain South Road, Baiyun District, Guangzhou
Then we explored Xiguan Antique Street felt like stepping back in time. This lesser-known area offers traditional Lingnan-style houses 🏘️ antique shops, and old tea 🍵 houses. The quiet streets are perfect for candid shots and architectural details. Visiting in the afternoon ensures softer light for photos 📸
📍No. 109 Enning Road, Liwan District, Guangzhou
We also strolled through Haizhu Lake Park, a peaceful retreat away from the city’s bustle. The shimmering lake and lantern-lit pathways provided stunning reflections and a calm ambiance. It’s an excellent spot for capturing Guangzhou’s natural beauty 🙌
📍Haizhu District, Guangzhou
Baomo Garden, located outside the city center, was a highlight of our trip ✨ We arrived in the morning to enjoy the tranquil koi ponds, elegant pavilions, and intricate carvings without the crowds. The garden’s blend of nature and traditional architecture makes it a top spot for photographers seeking unique perspectives 📸
📍Zini Village, Shawan Town, Panyu District, Guangzhou
We also explored Ersha Island in the afternoon, a quiet haven known for its art museums, scenic river views, and green spaces 🌱 It’s a great spot for minimalist photos with clean lines and a calm backdrop of the Pearl River. The late afternoon light adds a warm glow to your shots 📸
📍Ersha Island, Yuexiu District, Guangzhou
Lastly, we ended our day at a quiet viewpoint near Liede Bridge. This spot offered unobstructed views of the bridge and the Pearl River, illuminated by city lights. It’s less crowded compared to other city viewpoints, making it perfect for long-exposure photography 😍😍

Located in Shawan Town, Panyu District, it is a large-scale Lingnan cultural landscape garden. The photos taken here also look like ink paintings, and the best times to visit for photography and check-ins are during the Spring Festival, the latter half of March when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, and the National Day holiday.
We went there at the end of March, just when the cherry blossoms were flourishing, making it a great time for photo ops. If you're driving, you might choose to park outside to avoid traffic jams and the struggle to find a parking spot inside the garden. Plus, when you head home, you can avoid the traffic jam when leaving, haha, just drive straight out of the parking lot and you're on your way.
It's recommended to choose a day with plenty of sunshine for the visit, to capture the most beautiful scenery. If you're buying tickets on-site, there's no need to purchase the combo ticket for Nanyue Garden if you're only visiting Bao Mo Garden, especially since it's quite far away in another location.
You can also enjoy a boat ride; there are plenty of boats and the queue isn't too long. You can have two people per boat, and it's pedal-powered.

The cherry blossoms in Baomo Garden are a romantic feast of spring to the extreme
🌼🌸 Spring has arrived, and the cherry blossoms in Baomo Garden have bloomed passionately. They are like pink clouds, gently falling onto this world. Every time I step into Baomo Garden, I feel as if I am in the midst of an extremely romantic spring feast.
🌸🌺 Under the cherry trees, I sit quietly, letting the spring breeze brush across my cheeks, taking away all worries and fatigue. Those pink petals, like little sprites, dance lightly, bringing me endless surprises and joy.

🎈Story of the Flower Morning Festival
The Flower Morning Festival was once a very important festival for the Han people, celebrating the birthday of all flowers 🎂! Nowadays, this festival has gradually been forgotten by many 😞. Fortunately, many young people who love traditional culture have spontaneously organized and revived the traditional Flower Morning Festival activities 👏, which is really great 🎉! I personally think such a romantic traditional festival should not be forgotten 😘!
