One-day Tour Guide to Western Sichuan Bamboo Sea around Chengdu

Location: Western Sichuan Bamboo Sea and Pingle Ancient Town 30 minutes by high-speed train from Chengdu! Route from Chengdu: High-speed train: Chengdu to Qionglai Station, about 30 minutes, ticket price 25 yuan/person (prices vary by train) Self-driving: Chengdu to Western Sichuan Bamboo Sea Scenic Area, about 1.5 hours (may be congested on weekends), parking fee 10 yuan Ticket: 60 yuan (57 yuan if bought online one day in advance) Route: Chengdu → Qionglai Station → Western Sichuan Bamboo Sea → Pingle Ancient Town → Chengdu 1. After getting off the high-speed train, transfer to the bus. Turn left out of the high-speed train station to the passenger transport center, buy a ticket to Bamboo Sea, it takes about 40 minutes (6.5 yuan/person). (After buying the ticket, go directly to find the bus and a seat. We didn't have experience and thought there would be seats for everyone, avoid getting on the bus at the last minute and finding no seats). After getting off the bus, walk about 10 minutes to reach the Bamboo Sea Scenic Area. 2. The entire trip in Bamboo Sea takes about 2 hours, 1 hour and 40 minutes to go up the mountain, and 20 minutes to go down. (You can take a slide down for 45 yuan/person, but I think the price is a bit high, it takes less than 5 minutes, and you still need to walk a bit to exit the scenic area). The foot of the mountain is quite cool, and the road is easy to walk. Towards the end, the climb is mostly stone steps (the road is wet, it is recommended to wear non-slip shoes). Going down is quick, fast walkers can reach the bottom in 10-15 minutes. There are few places to buy things along the way, so it is recommended to bring some food or water. After going down, take a yellow tricycle to Pingle Ancient Town (10 yuan/2 people), it is very cool. 3. We arrived at Pingle Ancient Town just in time for lunch. We chose 'Baimo River Restaurant' for lunch. We ordered three dishes for two people, recommended the signature freshly killed fish, it was really delicious. All three dishes were very tasty. The total cost for two people was 99 yuan, which I think is quite reasonable. 4. If you have children or like playing in the water, you can choose Pingle Ancient Town. The water is flowing and relatively clean, much cleaner than the water in the Western Sichuan Bamboo Sea Scenic Area! Note: It is recommended to do sun protection, bring mosquito repellent, and if you plan to play in the water, bring a change of clothes and swimwear (the ones in the scenic area are not very nice and are slightly expensive).

If you want to avoid the hustle and bustle, consider taking the less popular 317 route. This route is not only less crowded with tourists but also boasts enchanting scenery. Let's talk about the itinerary of this route in detail: On the first day, depart from Chengdu and take the Yakang Expressway to Kangding, then follow Provincial Road 434 straight to Tagong. In Tagong, you can appreciate the grandeur of the grasslands before heading directly to Dawu. Once you leave Tagong, the traffic on the road will significantly decrease. On the second day, travel from Dawu to Garze County. Along the way, the Kasar Lake and numerous grassland landscapes are intoxicating and exceptionally beautiful. After arriving in Garze County, don't miss the hundred-mile barley gallery outside the county. In summer, the barley fields and snowy meadows complement each other, creating a stunningly beautiful scene. On the third day, set out from Garze County to Xinluhai. 🚗 1.5 hours from Chengdu to Pingle Ancient Town 🚄 Chengdu South-Qionglai Station 39 minutes 27 Western Sichuan Bamboo Sea - a natural oxygen bar, the scenic area contains natural canyons, tens of thousands of acres of natural bamboo forest growth areas, ecological streams, high-altitude suspension bridges, and glass walkways; the scenic area includes a visitor center, sightseeing driveways, walking trails, cableways, etc.; there are also rest areas, toilets, and beverage sales along the way The whole journey through the Western Sichuan Bamboo Sea takes about 3 hours. Throughout the mountain, you are sheltered by bamboo and hardly exposed to the sun, except on the glass bridge at the mountain top. Overall, the air is very good, and the temperature is not too hot. It's highly recommended to visit occasionally to relax and enjoy the natural scenery. Note: Buying tickets one day in advance is a few yuan cheaper than buying on the same day. If you don't mind, you can also buy them when you arrive. There is a small train included in one of the tickets, but this train is not part of the Western Sichuan Bamboo Sea attractions; it's next to the entrance of the scenic area. A local uncle mentioned it just goes around here. It's nice to see the rapeseed flowers when they bloom, but there are no rapeseed flowers this season. The cableway inside the scenic area was under maintenance, so it was not experienced. Some people think that the mineral water inside the scenic area is expensive and prefer to buy it outside. In fact, the price of mineral water inside the scenic area is the same as outside, three yuan. It's best to buy from the vending machines inside the scenic area. After passing the glass walkway and reaching the mountain top, there is a rest area without mineral water, but other items are quite expensive. The paths are easy to walk, and there are places to wade in the water along the way. Some people even climb the mountain in slippers, with the main attraction being wading. It's advised not to carry too much when climbing, just some small snacks. Pingle Ancient Town - a not-so-large ancient town with many homestays, chess and card rooms, and teahouses. It's not too commercialized and is suitable for a short stay. Around five or six in the afternoon, when the sun is about to set, it's nice to wade in the river. There are quite a few people, and some swim in the river, but the water doesn't seem very clear. There's also an old man playing the electric piano on the bridge, creating a really good atmosphere and a strong sense of the local people's enthusiasm. In the ancient town, normal accommodations, dining, and leisure are quite convenient. If you're looking for special local products, there isn't much variety. Key point: The food is really not recommended. I tried a few places, but the taste was just average, so I don't suggest spending a lot of money on gourmet food. The famously special lamb and milk soup noodles were not impressive, just ordinary, so don't come just for the food.
