Built during the Wanli era of the Ming Dynasty, the complex consists of a hundred houses along the riverbanks, connected by long stone bridges, hence the name "Baijianlou." The space is efficiently utilized with arcade buildings; some have extended eaves in the front, providing shelter from rain and sun. With the addition of modern lighting effects, the complex becomes particularly enchanting in the evening. It's an ideal time to visit, find a riverside restaurant, enjoy dinner, and admire the night scenery. Don't forget to try the local rice wine for an authentic taste of the region. Personal Opinion: In my opinion, Baijianlou offers a blend of historical charm and modern beauty. The picturesque views, especially in the evening, make it a delightful destination for a leisurely and memorable experience.

Nanxun Ancient Town "A world of gentle breezes and soft waters" 📍Huzhou · Nanxun Ancient Town A brief travelogue: I visited Nanxun on February 18th. The weather was fantastic, and since it was a working day, the crowds weren't too bad, although I still encountered several tour groups. The southern part of the ancient town was quite lively, but it felt very commercialized. The northern part, near Baijian Lou, was much less crowded. Strolling along the small paths there was truly delightful. There's no entrance fee for Nanxun, but there are separate fees for attractions within the ancient town. I only visited one, the Liu's Tidihao (Red House). I bought a student ticket for 10 RMB and enjoyed exploring it. It had a charming blend of Chinese and Western architectural styles. If you want to visit other paid attractions, you can buy a combined ticket on your phone, which is much cheaper. You can also explore Nanxun by boat, but I didn't have time for that. The water bus is only 3 RMB, but you have to go to a specific pier to board it. I imagine taking a boat tour would offer a different perspective on Nanxun's beauty. I tried the local specialty "Three-Course Tea" in Nanxun, but I wasn't quite used to the salty tea. The teahouse lady was incredibly welcoming and even took photos for me since I was traveling alone. She found some amazing spots, perfect for capturing memorable pictures. The braised dried tofu she made was also delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed it. My favorite part was the Baijian Lou area. It's absolutely stunning. There are many teahouses and restaurants along the riverbank, so you can choose one, sit by the water, and relax while enjoying the beautiful scenery.

[High cost performance] The Trip.com package includes breakfast, three-course tea, afternoon tea, goodnight sweet soup, souvenirs, tickets to the ancient town, and shuttle boats, which means that the room rate for one night covers most of the expenses for two days and one night. [Good environment] Located in Baijianlou, it is relatively quiet. The riverside room has a view of the small bridge, flowing water, and the blue bricks and tiles of Baijianlou. Sitting at the small table along the river at the door, drinking the unique three-course tea of Nanxun, watching the sculling boat pass by, rippling, and the pink flowers blooming on both sides of the river around Qingming Festival, this is the real Jiangnan. Off the Beaten Path in Popular Destinations: Nanxun, Huzhou|||I always take this route whenever I visit Nanxun. In short: You can't miss the Di Tang, and you can't take enough photos of Bai Jian Lou. Tips: 1. Nanxun is free of charge. Parking costs CNY 3.5 per hour. The smoothest route is to park in Parking Lot 1. If you only want to visit Bai Jian Lou, park in Parking Lot 3. 2. It takes about 2 hours to walk the popular route. If you take photos along the way, half a day is enough. 3. Go north to eat. There are two old noodle restaurants. The one with more people is the one to go to. There are queues almost every day. 4. If you can walk to the Di Tang Old Course, you can reach Bai Jian Lou. 5. There are fewer trees in winter, so you can take better photos. However, the shops will occupy the corridor of Bai Jian Lou with tables. It's best to go before 9 am. 6. Check the pier in advance. If you can't walk anymore, take a boat. 7. There are many people in popular places, but there are fewer people on this route. Be patient and take your time.

The west gate is close to the city and is mainly for locals. The north gate is close to the bus station and is mainly for individual travelers. 3. There is a water bus from the Silk Wharf at the east gate to the Cross Wharf at the west gate (CNY 3, departs every 30 mins, with additional boats dispatched based on the number of tourists, so you don't have to wait too long. The journey takes about 10 mins). 4. Suggested itineraries: half-day tour/full-day tour Half-day tour: 1. Enter and exit through different gates (enter through the south gate and exit through the east gate, or vice versa). Bai Jian Lou is located on the northeast side of the town, built along the east and west banks of the old canal. It is said to have been built by Dong Fen, the Minister of Rites in the Ming Dynasty, for his family's nannies and servants. It was named Bai Jian Lou because it originally had about 100 rooms. Bai Jian Lou is more than 400 meters long, with traditional black-tiled and white-walled buildings. The buildings are built along the river, and the river meanders with stone bridges connecting them, forming a long street with arcades, presenting a typical Jiangnan water town scenery.
