Bagong House has a total floor area of nearly 5,000 square meters, with a total of 220 rooms and suites. Its floor plan is an acute-angled triangle, situated at the intersection of Dongting Street and Poyang Street, two originally parallel streets that gradually converge, resembling a ship breaking through waves. The center features a triangular patio, serving as an inner courtyard. Each of the four adjacent streets has two to three entrances, totaling nine entrances, making it easily accessible. The entire apartment building is constructed of red brick and wood, with one basement floor and three above-ground floors (now four), and the fourth floor is an attic resembling a monk's hat, much like a Russian headdress. The main color of the building below the third floor is bright red, while the fourth-floor attic is white, creating a striking contrast. The eaves, balconies, curved railings, arches, and columns all display exquisite craftsmanship. This design was not only unique at the time but also had a profound influence on China's architectural community. After its completion in 1910, the building was quickly rented out to managers and employees working in high-end foreign firms. It was the first apartment building in Hankou, not only boasting a beautiful exterior but also equipped with modern amenities such as telephones, gas, and flush toilets. In that era, only those with substantial wealth or respectable jobs were eligible to live there. In the 1930s and 1940s, Bagong House became an ordinary rental property, accommodating vendors and nearby residents. In the 1950s, it became a collective housing area in Wuhan, with units allocated to employees by their workplaces. 138 families moved in, residing there for over half a century. Xu Zheng's film "Lost on Journey" was filmed here. Before the renovation, Ms. Hulu Ming visited the building and noted that while the exterior was beautiful, the interior was in disrepair, with leaking ceilings.

Because I love to use my camera to capture the present, I rarely travel alone. This trip to Wuhan was my first solo trip. I had seen companion photography services before and thought they were a great value. They charge by the hour (I found one for CNY 59/hour) and will accompany you to shop, eat, and play, and most importantly, take photos of you. For people who don't like taking photos, this attraction may be boring, but for me, it was a great place to take photos. ✔️Li Huangpi Road & Bagong House: It seems that every city has a "Wukang Mansion." In Wuhan, it is "Bagong House." There were so many people there. I was curious about the empty scenes in the online photos. What time were they taken? There is a Sanshengju Double-Skin Milk nearby that is quite delicious. ✔️Xian'an Fang: The red brick houses reminded me of Shanghai. The alleys are very artistic. ✔️Qingdao Road: I saw many Taobao shop owners taking street photos. It will officially open on December 5 (this Thursday). 🎉 The hotel retains the basic layout of the old house, with small areas but high ceilings. The lobby and corridors are made up of several rooms, giving the hotel the depth of an old Western-style house. 🏮 Ba Gong House was restored by the China State Construction Engineering Corporation, and the project won the 2023 Berlin Design Award for Architecture (Silver). Stepping through the door is like being transported back 100 years to Hankou to attend a fashionable party. 🎭 It's so immersive! The Ba Gong Di Hotel has 4 floors and 45 rooms. Wuhan is really beautiful!! I visited almost all the popular attractions in Wuhan in three days and two nights. The itinerary is as follows: Day 1️⃣ 1. In the morning, take the subway to Tan Hualin. There are many unique shops inside. It is a characteristic street, very suitable for taking photos. The buildings are very beautiful. 2. Then walk to Liangdao Street. The two are very close, just a ten-minute walk. You can find some of Wuhan's special snacks inside. The most popular one is fried dough sticks wrapped in glutinous rice. 3. The nearest subway station to Liangdao Street is the super popular Luckin Coffee Yellow Crane Tower check-in spot. There are red walls and many photographers, perfect for taking beautiful photos. 4. In the evening, take the subway to the pier to take the ferry (1.5r). When we went, it was the flood season, so the ferry was stopped. We walked a few hundred meters to the Yangtze River Bridge. The Yangtze River is really super beautiful!! A must-visit attraction. At the end of the Yangtze River Bridge is the Yellow Crane Tower (we didn't buy tickets to go inside, just looked from the outside). Day 2️⃣ 1. In the morning, we first went to the very popular Gude Temple (13r). It didn't feel worth the ticket. There are only three temples with a more foreign style inside. If you want to take photos, you can consider going there. 2. Then took the bus to Lihuangpi Road to check in at the Ba Gong House (it costs about 15 per photo with a photographer). There is also a history museum inside (free, you can take a look). 3. Walked a few hundred meters to Xiananfang. There are also some unique buildings inside. You can choose between Xiananfang and Tan Hualin. I recommend Tan Hualin more. 4. Walked to Jianghan Road. It is very lively, selling everything. There are super cheap clothes you can check out. I recommend the shop called 'Brain Flooded'. The things inside are very cheap and of good quality. You can buy some Wuhan souvenirs. The Jianghan Customs House Clock Tower is right there. Day 3️⃣ 1. In the morning, went to Baotong Zen Temple. It is a very beautiful temple, very large, with many cats. If you want to pet cats, you can go there. You can spend half a day wandering around. 2. In the afternoon, took a taxi directly to the East Lake Luoyan Scenic Area. A must-visit in Wuhan. It is very beautiful, like a big oxygen bar. Wearing a white dress will make your photos even better. It is very large, you can spend the whole afternoon there. This is my entire three-day two-night itinerary. It's beautiful to watch the sunset here or to see the lights at night. From the Yangtze River Bridge, you can directly see the Yellow Crane Tower across the river. 5️⃣ East Lake is also a highly recommended park. It's huge, and you need to take a small train to get around, so if you're not planning to circle East Lake, make sure to confirm your destination. The Luoyan Scenic Area is recommended, where artificial fog is released. Be sure to go before six o'clock. 6️⃣ Yellow Crane Tower can be reached by taking Subway Line 5 to Exit C, where you can directly see the Yellow Crane Tower. If you want to climb the tower, it's a ten-minute walk to the west gate of the scenic area, where tickets can be purchased on-site. 7️⃣ When in Wuhan, you must have breakfast! I went to Liangdao Street where local delicacies are abundant. The lotus root and rib soup is super fresh and delicious, and you can't go wrong with it. Then there's the hot dry noodles, which are really super tasty! There are also many other delicacies like bean skin. Everyone, bring your 128GB stomachs and set off! 8️⃣ Zhou Hei Duck is super delicious but a bit spicy. For those who can't handle spicy food, I recommend trying the mildly spicy version. 9️⃣ The two most popular local milk tea shops in Wuhan are Zhen Tea House and Grandpa Doesn't Make Tea. I recommend Zhen Tea House more for its rich taste and it's not too heavy. 1️⃣0️⃣ Lastly, this Youhe Bakery is also worth a try! Super delicious! On a leisurely weekend with clear skies, one doesn't feel like staying at home but rather wants to wander aimlessly. We took the subway to the area near Wuhan Tiandi on Changchun Road and started an aimless urban hike. Exiting the subway station, we grabbed some siu mai with American coffee near No.2 Middle School and continued walking along the riverside avenue, reaching Yanqingli to take some photos. It used to be full of residents a long time ago, but now it has turned into an internet-famous alley. The roadside roses also had to be captured in a couple of shots; I can't be left out of the fun. We discovered that the Police Museum of Wuhan is open to the public for free, so we continued in to check in. Passing through Tongxingli, we saw crowds of people near the Ba Gong House, so we quickly took a couple of pictures and left. By the time we reached Jianghan Road, it was already four in the afternoon, so we took the subway home.
