One of Japan's Three Great Shrines: Atsuta Shrine in Nagoya
Atsuta Shrine is one of the most important shrines in Nagoya and one of Japan's three great shrines. It is famous for enshrining the Kusanagi Sword. The shrine has a long history and a serene environment that exudes a sacred atmosphere. ๐ง๐ป
The trees in Atsuta Shrine are tall and lush, providing a cool and comfortable walking experience even in hot weather. ๐ซถ๐ป
โ Nearby, there is the famous eel rice restaurant, Houraiken. If you want to taste this delicacy, it is best to get a number in advance and then visit Atsuta Shrine. ๐

I thought Nagoya was beautiful enough, until I came to Atsuta Shrine.
Some people say that Nagoya is not as beautiful as Kyoto and Fuji
I want to say maybe it's because you haven't slowed down

When you slow down the pace of the traveler
Pause the camera to check in the shutter
Just looking for a moment of joy๐
Rush to this traditional Japanese courtyard in Atsuta
Quiet torii, simple stone statue
The blessing wooden sign hanging on the tree swaying with the wind
And the ubiquitous wooden house god. Society
Cherry blossoms in spring ๐ธ Maple in autumn๐
Even if you miss the beauty of these two seasons
Just this quietness of the ancient trees๐ฒ
Also let people hold their breath

Nagoya 6-Day 5-Night Family Fun with Non-Stop Eating, Shopping, and Playing.
Some people say Nagoya is the most boring city in Japan, but I completely disagree. This 6-day 5-night family trip during the summer was incredibly satisfying!
Day 1: We took an afternoon flight and arrived at Chubu Centrair International Airport in Nagoya at 8 PM Japan time. Since we had already filled out the entry forms on Visit Japan Web, the immigration process was very quick. Because we flew with a budget airline, we landed at Terminal 2 and had to walk to Terminal 1 to pick up our car, which took about 15 minutes. It was quite a walk! After picking up the car, we headed straight to the city, dropped off our luggage at the hotel, and immediately went to Isomaru Suisan for a seafood dinner. After a satisfying meal, we went back to the hotel to prepare for the next day's itinerary.
Day 2: We had a Japanese-style breakfast at McDonald's, then drove to Houraiken to get a ticket for their famous eel rice. We then visited Atsuta Shrine to draw a fortune slip, spent an hour at Osu Shopping Street, and returned to Houraiken for lunch. Afterward, we took a stroll around Nagoya Castle, got new glasses at Aeon Mall, and had dinner at a local ramen shop before heading back to the hotel.
Day 3: We started the day early with onigiri and sandwiches from Aeon, then drove 165 kilometers to Takayama for a local Hida beef meal. We spent over an hour exploring Takayama Old Town, then drove another 50 minutes to ride the rail bikes. After that, we drove almost 200 kilometers back to Nagoya for dinner at Sushiro, followed by a shopping spree at Don Quijote before returning to the hotel to rest.
Day 4: We woke up naturally, had a local Nagoya breakfast, and drove 60 kilometers to Suzuka Circuit, where we played until around 5 PM. Due to heavy rain, we decided to leave early and drove to AEON Mall in Suzuka City for more shopping and a simple dinner at the food court. We then braved the heavy rain to drive back to Nagoya.
Day 5: Still feeling full, we had a light breakfast, checked out, and moved our luggage to LEGOLAND. After dropping off our luggage, we spent the day at LEGOLAND, then returned to the hotel to rest. Later, we drove back to Nagoya for a high-quality yakiniku dinner before returning to the hotel.
Day 6: We had a lavish breakfast at the LEGOLAND hotel, then headed to the Nagashima Outlet for some serious shopping. We filled our bags to the brim, refueled the car near the airport, made a final shopping stop at a nearby supermarket, and returned the car at the airport. After checking in our luggage, we visited the Flight of Dreams exhibit next to Terminal 2, enjoyed some ramen while watching a Boeing 787, and then departed for Hong Kong.
So, Nagoya is definitely not boring, and we even ran out of time to do everything we wanted!

Storing the sacred sword of the imperial regalia, this Shinto shrine is well worth a visit even though there are few English signs. Arriving at Jingu Nishi station follow the sign marked 300 m to the west entrance. After 2-3 minutes turn left & follow the crowds along the tree lined walk-way to the main shrine. After offering prayers, walk to the left & around to the back of the shrine, continuing the path until reaching steps by a stream. There enjoy flicking water onto the central rock with the wooden ladles while making a wish! The path eventually leads back to the entrance. I was impressed by the atmosphere. There is a hand washing area for tourists to wash there hands before started to pray. The day I visited was coincident with a wedding ceremony(I think). A paid museum is located inside as well. Be sure the opening hours when planning a visit.

After catching up with the cherry blossoms of the day, the fatigue of the journey almost made us pass the hot building of the Atsuta Shrine, one of the three major shrines in Japan. The Atsuta Shrine is built in the style of the gods and has a history of 1900 years. The main shrine of the shrine is the hot god, one of the highest-ranking shrines in Japan, with more than 2,000 pieces of antiques, literature and art, covering an area of nearly 200,000 square meters. Various large-scale events are often held here, with traditional Japanese weddings being the most common. The hot field festival on June 5th is the hottest time of the Atsuta Shrine, and you can enjoy the lantern event and the fireworks show.

Exploring Nagoya: A Journey Through History and Cuisine
Inuyama Castle is accessible by a 30-minute subway ride from Nagoya Station, followed by a 20-minute walk. It is one of the oldest among the 12 existing castles in Japan, with a history of about 400 years. In 2004, it was designated as a national treasure. Unlike other castles, Inuyama Castle doesn't have a significant historical background and was privately owned until financial difficulties led the owner to transfer it to the government. The designation as a national treasure is mainly due to the scarcity of surviving castles in Japan. The top floor of the castle offers a great view, and although I didn't explore the castle town due to the heat, it's worth visiting for beautiful photos from below the castle, which is situated on a hill.
Atsuta Shrine houses one of Japan's three sacred treasures, the Kusanagi Sword. With a reservation, you can see a model of the sword. The shrine is large and free to enter, making it a nice spot for a stroll if you're in Nagoya. It's worth visiting as two of the three sacred treasures are located near Nagoya, with the Yata Mirror at Ise Shrine, which is also easily accessible from Nagoya.
I tried Nagoya's signature dish, Hitsumabushi, at Maruya Honten near Nagoya Station. The average price is around 4000 yen, and I ordered a premium set for 5000 yen. The first bite of eel had a distinct charcoal-grilled aroma and crispiness, but as I continued eating, it felt similar to other meals and became increasingly greasy. Although Maruya is a well-known restaurant, they didn't serve the final dashi broth for the Hitsumabushi, which I realized was missing after reading several guides. I had to request it from the waiter, which was a bit disappointing.

Atsuta Shrine
Atsuta Shrine's history can be traced back to over 2,000 years ago, as recorded in Japan's oldest chronicle, the Kojiki. With a long history, the shrine covers an area of about 200,000 square meters, centered around the main shrine and auxiliary shrines. There are also 18 branch shrines and 8 associate shrines, making it one of Japan's largest Shinto shrines. The shrine's treasury houses a rich collection of over 4,000 treasures, including sacred garments, masks, and swords, among which are national treasures. One of the three great imperial regalia of Japan, the Kusanagi Sword, is also kept here, although it has never been displayed. Moreover, the shrine hosts numerous festivals and ritual events, with about 70 different occasions throughout the year, offering a valuable opportunity to experience Japan's ancient and rare ceremonial activities.

Don't miss Atsuta Shrine when you travel to Nagoya!
๐ผ Atsuta Shrine, located in Nagoya, is a shrine with a history of nearly nineteen hundred years.
โค Atsuta Shrine is beloved by travelers because it houses the legendary sword 'Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi', which is one of the three sacred treasures of Japan that the deity 'Amaterasu Omikami' bestowed, including the mirror, jewel, and sword. It is also the place where the Sengoku period warlord Oda Nobunaga established the 'Nobunaga Wall', although only parts of the ruins remain now.
๐ The 'Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi' sword is a mysterious existence, never displayed, but it still attracts many enthusiasts. Instead, a large number of samurai swords are available for viewing. The Atsuta Shrine Treasure Museum houses nearly 6,000 artifacts, including important cultural properties and items of national significance in Japan.
โ Over seventy ceremonies and festivals are held here throughout the year, and during the first few days of the New Year, the place is packed with people coming to experience the ancient culture of Japan.
๐Location: 1-1-1 Jingu, Atsuta Ward, Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture.
๐ฐTicket Information: Free.
๐Opening Hours: Open all day. The Treasure Museum is open from 9:00 to 16:30.
๐Transportation: Take the subway Meitetsu Line, get off at Jingu Nishi, and it's just a few minutes' walk.

Enshrines the Kusanagi no Tsurugi
#nagoyatrip A beautiful shrine, a must visit if you are in Nagoya. The grounds are large but the shrine itself was compact. I am guessing that not many tourists come here as all the signs are in Japanese only, so a translation app is recommended if you do not speak Japanese. It is worth reading about the significance of the shrine as well, and the sacred sword contained inside, which is hidden from public view. Definitely recommend if you are in Nagoya.

Atsuta Shrine (็ฑ็ฐ็ฅๅฎฎ, Atsuta Jingลซ)
#2024wish
This is one of Shinto's most important shrines. It enshrines the Sun Goddess Amaterasu and stores the sacred sword Kusanagi, which is one of the three imperial regalia. Note, however, that the sword is never displayed to the public.
Atsuta Shrine stands in a pleasant, wooded park in southern Nagoya. During the Meiji Period, the shrine's buildings was remodeled after the Ise Shrines in the purely Japanese Shinmei-zukuri architecture style.
I want to go back in Nagoya in 2024.

Hatsumode is the first shrine / temple prayer visit during the Japanese New Year's ๐ holidays and is usually done during the first few days of the new year. I had visited Atsuta Jingu in Nagoya for the Hatsumode to pray for good luck and health for the upcoming year. The shrine was crowded with lots of visitors praying, buying lucky charms and drawing their New Year's Omikuji (drawing of fortune-telling paper slip to tell your luck for the year). There are also a lot of festival food stalls selling lots of delicious ๐คค meals and snacks. It's definitely a very interesting experience one should go for as well.
In 2024, I wish to experience more different festivals and events overseas.

This place, shine, temple, garden, space out of our time line is located in Nagoya, a not so visited city of Japan compared with others, but it does have some of the most impressive places that I saw during my last visit.
The Atsura Jingu was built around 1900 years ago, and currently is the most sacred place in the city. Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi sword being one of imperial Japan religia makes this shrine it's home.
After a walk by its gardens we had some traditional Eel just a few minutes walking from it. Very special and unique place to be.

Spring in Nagoya, Japan | One of the three major shrines, it is said that making a wish at Atsuta Shrine is very effective
Atsuta Shrine is one of the three oldest and highest-ranking shrines in Japan.
First, it is as famous as Ise Shrine and Meiji Shrine. It is said that nearly 6.5 million worshipers come here every year. The Kusanagi Sword (Caoyong Sword) is enshrined here, which is the Tianyeyun Sword, one of the three major artifacts in Japan (the Gouyu of Bachiqiong, the Mirror of Yata).
Legend has it that the Kusanagi Sword was taken from the tail of Yamata no Orochi by the exiled Susano, and dedicated to Amaterasu, and later as one of the three major artifacts, it was given to the descendant of Amaterasu, the Emperor, and later enshrined in Rei Tian Shrine.
The Treasure Hall in Atsuta Shrine houses more than 6,000 collections from the Japanese royal family, samurai families, and folks. Most of the collections are national treasures and important cultural properties of Japan.
In addition, there is a Nobunaga wall here, which is also known as "the three major earthen walls in Japan" together with the Taiko Bi of Sansanjusangendo in Kyoto and the Dailian Bi of Nishinomiya Shrine. It is said that Oda Nobunaga came here to pray before he left for the expedition. As a result, he won the battle of Ozazama and defeated Imai Yoshimoto with a disparate force, so he built a Nobunaga wall and enshrined it in Atsuta Shrine. It is said that praying here is very effective.
The garden is full of greenery, and it is a little cold on a cloudy day with few people. When I walked to the shrine, it suddenly cleared up. I met the wedding procession, and I suddenly felt the oncoming spring. The beautiful scenery, the mood is graceful.
I saw all kinds of people coming to spring in the garden. You can tell whether it is a tourist taking pictures or a local spring outing girl by walking in small steps~ I ate the famous Jingu miso noodles inside. The soup base and noodles are not bad, small bowls The fried pork chop is also delicious.
