Ancient Shandong....
Qingzhou Ancient City (青州古城) is conveniently located between both Ji'nan and Weifang, making it a good option for travelling to for a day trip. You can travel here by car or local bus, but the easiest option is to take a train and just get a taxi from the train station, taking around 15 minutes. Arriving at the majestic front gate, walk through the arch to the main street, where you can find restaurants, pavillions, gardens and temples. The small alleys all meet at the main street. It is very picturesque during the day or night, however it is usually busier in the evening when the buildings are lit up and there are also performances. Make sure you try the local delicacy, the meat bingze...it is a savory snack that is perfect to eat while walking around the attractions here. You can do all of the city In a just a couple of hours. This place is definitely worth a visit if you like old buildings and learning about local history.

Jinan & Qingzhou Food Guide: Shandong Cuisine is the Best!
Shandong has a lot of delicious food! The portions are generous and the prices are cheap. My friends from the south were amazed at how much food there was.
-
🌟 First, Shandong cuisine is one of the eight major cuisines in China.
The first meal we had in Jinan was at a Shandong restaurant that was said to be good! We ordered the signature dishes: "Stir-fried Pork Kidney," "Braised Pork Intestines," "Stir-fried Pork Liver, Kidney, and Tripe," "Sweet and Sour Pork," "Seafood Soup," "Oil Cake," and more.
😅 I had never seen any of these dishes before, but they were all delicious. Although I don't particularly like eating offal, this was acceptable.
-
🌟 We had Shandong fried chicken for dinner.
The portions were huge! There were also pancakes. The fried chicken was very flavorful, not spicy but very strong. After eating the chicken, you can add wide noodles to the pot (amazing!). I always thought fried chicken was like braised chicken, but it's not. It's more like a chicken hot pot.
-
🌟 Although we didn't go to Zibo, we did have Zibo barbecue.
Zibo barbecue was very popular before. We passed by Zibo on our way to Qingzhou and suddenly remembered that we could try it, so we arranged a meal. Six girls ordered a meal for 3–4 people and almost couldn't finish it! The meat skewers were really good and solid... and they tasted great, wrapped in warm grilled pancakes. Delicious! 🤪
The meal only cost 25 per person, and we ate a lot of meat skewers. It was so cheap! 😅
-
🌟 Qingzhou snacks!
When visiting Qingzhou Ancient City, it's a good idea to buy some local specialty snacks, such as "Honey Three Knives" and "Baked Cake." You can also buy honey peaches, which are a local specialty. The candied haws here are amazing! And cheap! I ate them for two days in a row. 😋
-
In conclusion, I used to think that Shandong food wasn't particularly appealing, but after trying it, I found it to be really good. 😍

Ancient Charm and Scenic Beauty: A Timeless Journey Through Qingzhou Ancient City
Qingzhou Ancient City, with a history spanning over two thousand years, is a place where the beauty of nature and rich cultural heritage converge. Stepping into the ancient city feels like entering a time tunnel, with city walls, stone-paved roads, and old alleys all preserving traces of history. The traditional architecture with green bricks and black tiles is both rustic and elegant, telling stories of a once-prosperous era. As you stroll through the streets and alleys, you are greeted by a strong cultural atmosphere. The academies, temples, and archways here have withstood the test of time and still stand quietly.
Qingzhou's natural scenery is equally captivating. The Yunmen Mountain and Yangtian Mountain within the city are picturesque, with the beauty of the mountains and waters complementing the tranquility of the ancient city, resembling a traditional ink painting. Climbing Yunmen Mountain offers a panoramic view of Qingzhou Ancient City, surrounded by mountains and waters, providing a refreshing and exhilarating experience.
A journey through Qingzhou Ancient City allows you to feel the weight of history and appreciate the grandeur of nature. Every brick and tile, every mountain and water here is imbued with rich cultural heritage and historical charm, making it a timeless journey worth cherishing.

Qingzhou is the most underrated city I have visited so far
🎈Guys, today I must share an amazing place with you all—Shandong Qingzhou! It is one of the ancient nine states, with a civilization history of over 5000 years! This is also where Li Qingzhao lived for more than twenty years. There are numerous historical sites and the natural scenery is stunning.😎
🚩My two-day itinerary is as follows:
Day1️⃣: Hangzhou➡️Qingzhou Museum➡️Qingzhou Ancient City
Day2️⃣: Zhaode Ancient Street➡️Guangfu Temple➡️Tuoshan Grottoes➡️Longxing Temple
👉Transportation is also very convenient. You can take a high-speed train from Hangzhou to Qingzhou Station and then take a taxi. If you want to stay for a few more days, I strongly recommend renting a car for more freedom in your travels!🚗
📸The following attractions are really amazing:
✅Qingzhou Museum: This is a national first-class museum on par with the Forbidden City. The exhibits are so numerous that they are dazzling. Be sure to watch carefully and don't just skim through. Especially the Smile of Qingzhou (a national treasure unearthed from Longxing Temple, each Buddha statue has a smiling face and a kind expression), it is simply breathtaking!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
✅Qingzhou Ancient City: The Ming and Qing buildings with blue bricks and tiles, and the simple folk customs are touching. From Fucai Gate, you can see the panoramic view of the ancient city, and Zhaode Ancient Street is full of strong Hui ethnic style. The night views of Ouyuan and the Catholic Church are more beautiful than during the day. Unfortunately, my camera ran out of battery when I went, 😭😭 so don't miss it like I did. There are not many people in the ancient city in the morning, you can walk around and experience the different regional characteristics while tasting authentic Qingzhou breakfast culture, it feels absolutely wonderful.
✅Tuoshan Grottoes: It takes about half an hour to climb the mountain, but it is really worth it. The exquisite grotto culture has fascinated many tourists, making the trip worthwhile. You can also overlook Longxing Temple from here.
✅Longxing Temple: Built in the Northern Dynasties, it was a first-class royal temple during the Tang and Song Dynasties. The red walls and yellow tiles are not something that ordinary temples can compare with.
🕰️For those with enough time, you can also visit Yunmen Mountain, Jingtang Ancient Village, Huanghua Creek, and other surrounding attractions, which are also worth a visit!
🏨For accommodation, I strongly recommend staying in a homestay within Qingzhou Ancient City, it is very convenient to go anywhere.
🍴About Qingzhou cuisine (mostly in the ancient city):
1️⃣Qi Ji Chicken Rice Noodles, the taste is amazing.
2️⃣Wang Zhiyong Breakfast Shop, a must-visit.
3️⃣Beef Pancakes, incredibly fragrant.
4️⃣Old Lady's Qiu Cake, so delicious you can't stop eating.
5️⃣Xu's Mustard Chicken, also very good.
If you want to bring souvenirs, go to Longsheng Pastry, the Honey Three Knives is very delicious.😋
Guys, Qingzhou is really a treasure city, come and check it out!💖

In Weifang | Come to Qingzhou Ancient City for a vacation
| Come to Qingzhou Ancient City for a vacation. In Weifang | Come to Qingzhou Ancient City for a vacation while the baby is filming a variety show, come and see Qingzhou Ancient City.
Lu Qingzhou Ancient City
- The ancient city is quite large. In the afternoon, I followed the production team and only visited the Song City side.
There are many snacks on both sides, and the taste is quite good. The consumption is also okay. A small cotton candy costs 5 yuan, and a large one costs 10 yuan.
◇ Hotel: Yunju Homestay
The location is right next to the ancient city, opposite the Qingzhou Municipal Government.
The entire room design is still quite distinctive, with a lot of that atmosphere from the seventies and eighties.
Each room is named after a hutong area, but the downside is that it is like a maze, and the rooms are not easy to find.
There is a smart toilet in the room, but it feels a bit semi-intelligent. The room space is also quite large. The only regret is that there is no refrigerator.
The hotel's breakfast time is from 7:00 to 9:00. I'll go down and try it later. The hotel has a restaurant, but it only serves breakfast. Lunch and dinner are only for group meals. I tasted some of the baby's group meal, and the taste was quite good, standard.
Looking forward to the baby's variety show final cut.
I'll try the locust flower buns recommended by a friend later.

Ancient City of Qingzhou
I have known about the Ancient City of Qingzhou for a long time, perhaps because I knew from a young age that Qingzhou was one of the ancient nine states.
I thought it would be a grand ancient city, but it turned out to be just a street. The goods on both sides of the ancient street are dazzling, but it seems to lack a bit of its own unique characteristics. The ancient cities and streets across the country seem to be increasingly similar, but culture cannot be replicated; only the buildings can be copied.
The Ancient City of Qingzhou is still a place worth visiting. The architecture here is full of ancient charm, and the shops along the streets have a strong ancient flavor. To feel how long the history here is, and how profound the cultural heritage is, every smooth stone slab here is an unwritten book. The streets of the Ancient City of Qingzhou are very long, and I was really too tired to walk to the end, so I turned back after about two-thirds of the way.

Qingzhou, a small city where a thousand years can be seen in a glance
The Qingzhou before my eyes is more charming than I imagined. Although an ancient city of a thousand years must keep up with the times, a strong sense of daily life is also the main theme here.
No matter which side of the Wannian Bridge you walk on, you can feel the slow pace of life in the small city. This slow life is not a fashionable term spoken of, but a truly comfortable and down-to-earth lifestyle.
Escaping the high temperatures of North China, walking on the stone-paved streets of the old town with a gentle breeze, I try to find in the casual corners the mottled traces left by the Dongyi culture, or the profoundness associated with Qingzhou, which is referred to as the 'State of the East' in the 'Lüshi Chunqiu'.
In summary, 'a small city where a thousand years can be seen in a glance' is exactly my mood at the moment!

The poetic charm and the long cultural lineage: Qingzhou Travelogue (Part Three) - A Night Stroll in the Ancient City (Middle)
Qingzhou has a history of over two thousand years of city building. It has been the site of national capitals, provincial capitals, and state administrations, where many eminent figures once stood tall and issued orders.
The fortresses built could not withstand the test of time and were mostly destroyed in wars. Today, only a few ancient relics remain.
Speaking of ancient streets, the relatively well-preserved ones include Zhaode Street, Dongguan Street, Wei Street, Ouyuan Street, North Gate Street, and North Guan Street, etc. These streets are connected end to end, spanning a total length of 5 kilometers, known as the 'Ten Li Ancient Street'. It is impossible to visit this large area of ancient streets in less than half a day, so I chose the Dongguan Zhaode district, which still retains the best of the ancient charm to this day.
The Zhaode district starts from North Guan in the north to Ouyuan Street, Wei Street, and Dongguan Zhenjiao Temple in the south. It mainly includes North Guan Street, North Gate Street, Ouyuan Street, East Gate Street, Dongguan Street, Grain Street, North Ge Street, Zhaode Street, and the alleys on both sides. They are interconnected from north to south and east to west, forming a group of Ming and Qing ancient buildings that are 'linked together', with green bricks and grey tiles, red railings and white walls, and bluestone pavements, exuding a strong sense of ancient elegance.
The deep and ancient alleys, a path polished bright by the years, leads us to the continuation of history in the ancient city of Qingzhou...
Walking south from the north of the city, it only takes a moment to reach the Ten Li Ancient Street.
The Ten Li Ancient Street starts from North Guan Street in the north to Ouyuan Street in the south, stretching for 5 kilometers. Chessboard Street, Wei Street, and Zhaode Street on the left and right are interconnected, forming the most representative group of ancient Ming and Qing residential buildings in Qingzhou.
Although the journey through the ancient streets is not short, one must walk along the way, because only when your footsteps firmly tread on the bluestone slabs in the middle of the ancient street, can you feel the pulse of history. Admiring the ancient Ming and Qing buildings on both sides of the ancient street to the rhythm of history's pulse, a profound sense of history will naturally emerge.
It's as if you're not walking on stone slabs that have been polished bright through a thousand years of wear, but through vivid and lively historical scenes. The alleys extend continuously, and the scroll of history unfolds endlessly...
Fork in the Road
Weifang Qingzhou Ancient City
From Zhoucun Ancient City, we headed straight to Qingzhou Ancient City. The difference in scale is quite significant. Qingzhou Ancient City covers a large area. The bluestone roads have been polished by the years to an exceptional cleanliness. The ancient trees are lush, and the flowers bloom brilliantly. Many old wooden storefronts are also preserved. There's a main road in the middle, with side roads branching out in all directions that can also lead out of the city. We followed the main road to the end, turned right to exit the city gate, and circled back to the parking lot. We ate the famous Da Huai Tree pan-fried buns. The bun tops are edible. There were too many people waiting in line, so it's better to come at an off-peak time. After exiting the city gate and turning right, we bought the famous Longsheng pastries, which are only available at this store with no branches. We bought a lot as gifts. The flavors are very traditional. We also bought a bunch of milk-flavored baked buns. They smell very fragrant when freshly baked. Those who like solid wheat foods might want to give it a try
The Culinary Compass
Qingzhou, the foremost of the ancient Nine Provinces, is a must-visit in Shandong
📍 Located in Weifang, Shandong, Qingzhou is a county-level city that many may not have heard of. However, as an ancient historical city, Qingzhou once had a very brilliant and splendid history❗️
🌟 Highlights: It was once the leader of the ancient 'Nine Provinces,' the Qi County of Qin dynasty, the Qingzhou City of Western Han, the Beihai County seat during the Sui and Tang dynasties, and the Qingzhou Prefecture seat during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Its historical status is extremely important〽️
✅ From the Eastern Han to the Three Kingdoms period, Qingzhou was always an important city in China. It was the hinterland of the Dongyi, a key town of the three Qis, and after the decline of the Qi capital Linzi, Qingzhou served as the political center of the Shandong region for over 1400 years‼️ Today's Qingdao, Yantai, Jinan, Weifang, and other places were once under the jurisdiction of Qingzhou.
✅ Qingzhou is also one of the earliest regions where Buddhism was introduced into China, with a variety of Buddhist sects such as Pure Land, Zen, and Esoteric Buddhism, leaving behind a large number of precious relics. Because of such a glorious history, Qingzhou was selected as a national historical and cultural city, and the ancient city of Qingzhou was selected as a national 5A-level tourist attraction🔆
✅ The ancient city of Qingzhou was founded during the Western Han dynasty and has ancient streets from the Ming and Qing dynasties such as North Gate Street, East Gate Street, Ou Garden Street, North Camp Street, South Camp Street, and Zhaode Street. There are hundreds of existing ancient streets and alleys, most of which, like 'Qingzhou,' have been using their ancient names for hundreds or even thousands of years📚
✅ There are many attractions such as Ou Garden, Hengwangfu Archway, Qingzhou Prefecture Tribute Institute, Prefecture Yamen, Prefecture Wen Temple, Mosque, Christian Church, Catholic Church, Peizhen Academy, Kuixing Tower, and the former palace of Li Qingzhao⛩
❤ Recommended reason: Having visited many ancient cities, I originally came to Qingzhou for the 【Qingzhou Museum】, without high expectations for the ancient city, but it gave me so many surprises☺️
✅ Without excessive commercialization, the ancient city still retains its original streets and alleys, and the original residents still live among them💕
✅ If you have time, and if you like cultural history, Qingzhou is worth spending a few days to slowly explore and enjoy💕
🚉 Travel tips: Take the high-speed train🚄 to Qingzhou, and you can take a bus or taxi directly to the ancient city, which is quite convenient.

Qingzhou Travel Guide (Tips)
📍 Qingzhou, a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Weifang in Shandong, is a place many people may not have heard of. In fact, as an ancient historical city, Qingzhou once had a very brilliant and splendid history❗️
🌟 Highlights: It was once the foremost of the ancient 'Nine Provinces,' the Qi County of Qin, the Qingzhou City of Western Han, the Beihai County seat during the Sui and Tang dynasties, and the Qingzhou Prefecture seat during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Its historical status is extremely important〽️
✅ From the Eastern Han to the Three Kingdoms period, Qingzhou was always an important city in China. Qingzhou was the hinterland of the Eastern Yi and a key town of the three Qis. After the decline of the Qi capital Linzi, Qingzhou served as the political center of the Shandong region for over 1400 years‼️ Today's Qingdao, Yantai, Jinan, Weifang, and other places were once under the jurisdiction of Qingzhou.
✅ Qingzhou is also one of the earliest regions where Buddhism was introduced into China, with a variety of Buddhist sects such as Pure Land, Chan, and Esoteric Buddhism, leaving behind a large number of precious relics. It is because of such a glorious history that Qingzhou was selected as a national historical and cultural city, and the ancient city of Qingzhou was listed as a national 5A-level tourist attraction🔆
✅ The ancient city of Qingzhou was founded during the Western Han Dynasty and has ancient streets from the Ming and Qing Dynasties such as North Gate Street, East Gate Street, Ou Garden Street, North Camp Street, South Camp Street, and Zhaode Street. There are hundreds of existing ancient streets and alleys, most of which, like 'Qingzhou,' have been using their ancient names for hundreds or even thousands of years📚
✅ There are many attractions such as Ou Garden, Hengwangfu Archway, Qingzhou Prefecture Tribute Institute, Prefecture Government Office, Prefecture Confucian Temple, Mosque, Christian Church, Catholic Church, Peizhen Academy, Kui Xing Lou, and the former palace of Li Qingzhao⛩
❤ Recommended Reason: Having visited too many ancient cities, I originally came to Qingzhou for the 【Qingzhou Museum】, without high expectations for the ancient city, but it gave me so many surprises☺️
✅ If you have time, if you like cultural history, Qingzhou is worth spending a few days to slowly explore and enjoy💕
🚉 Transportation Tips: Take the high-speed train🚄 to Qingzhou, and you can go directly to the ancient city by bus or taxi, which is quite convenient.

Qingzhou Ancient City | An underestimated city with a thousand years of cultural history
According to the annotations in 'Zhou Li', 'Because it is located in the less sunny area, its color is blue, hence the name Qingzhou'. It was once the head of the ancient 'Nine Provinces', the Qi County of Qin, the Qingzhou City of the Western Han Dynasty, the Beihai County of the Sui and Tang Dynasties, and the Qingzhou Prefecture of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Its historical status is extremely important.
The layout of Qingzhou Ancient City is complete, and it still retains the traditional layout and historical style of mountains, water, and city. More than 20,000 original residents continue the traditional cultural context of the ancient Qingzhou area. Qingzhou is also one of the earliest areas where Buddhism entered the Han area, with various Buddhist sects such as Pure Land, Zen, and Esoteric Buddhism, and left a large number of precious relics.
The ancient city was built in the Western Han Dynasty, with North Gate Street, East Gate Street, Ouyuan Street, North Camp Street, South Camp Street, Zhaode Street and other Ming and Qing ancient streets. There are hundreds of existing ancient streets and alleys, most of which, like 'Qingzhou', have been used for hundreds or even thousands of years.
The entire ancient city is very suitable for aimless strolling and leisure, everywhere is very interesting, there are Ouyuan, Hengwangfu Archway, Qingzhou Prefecture Gongyuan, Prefecture Gate, Prefecture Wen Temple, Mosque, Church, Catholic Church, Peizhen Academy, Kuixing Tower, Li Qingzhao Palace and many other attractions to check in and visit.

Ancient city Qingzhou | Li Qingzhao lived for 20 years
Qingzhou, Shandong, is one of the ancient nine provinces
Fan Zhongyan, Ouyang Xiu, and Fu Bi have all been prefects here
It can be seen that it is famous in history
Li Qingzhao lived here for 20 years with her husband Zhao Mingcheng
There is also a county-level museum of the same level as the Forbidden City - Qingzhou Museum
2 hours high-speed rail distance from Beijing
🍓Places to go:
◾️Qingzhou Ancient City:
There are Ou Garden, the memorial hall of landscape painting master Li Cheng, churches and city towers in the ancient city. Overall, it is quite comfortable to stroll around. There are many snacks inside.
◾️Camel Mountain and Longxing Temple:
Go to climb Camel Mountain in the morning, there are the so-called Shandong's first grotto statues on it, it is quite tiring to climb the mountain, you need to bring more water, there are no shops on it. You can overlook Longxing Temple from the high point of Camel Mountain.
Although Longxing Temple is a newly built temple, it is still very magnificent. The Buddha statues inside are tall and solemn, and there are many small stone monks on the ground outside, which are very cute.
◾️Qingzhou Museum:
If you go to Qingzhou, you must go to Qingzhou Museum. When taking a 🚗, the master asked, are you going to the museum? (Laugh)
Although it is a county-level museum, due to the discovery of more than 600 Buddhist statues from the Northern Wei to the Northern Song Dynasty at the Longxing Temple site in 1996, it was one of the "Top Ten Archaeological Discoveries of the Year" and became a national first-class museum. "If National Treasures Could Talk" also has a special episode about the smiling Buddhas.
You can understand the changes of Buddha statues from the Northern Wei to the Song Dynasty. If you look closely, each Buddha statue has a different face. Many Buddha statues have suffered a great deal of damage, but they all maintain a smiling expression, which is very shocking.
The champion scroll and Qiu Ying's version of the Qingming Shanghe Picture should not be missed.
◾️Fan Gongting Park:
It seems to be a citizen leisure park inside. But the Three Sages Temple (Fan Zhongyan, Ouyang Xiu, Fu Bi) and Li Qingzhao's former residence (under renovation) are located here. The lotus flowers are in full bloom, and the trumpet creepers are also blooming. Adults hide under the green wisteria trees to cool off, and children use lotus leaves as umbrellas. There is also a studio for learning to make rubbings in the Three Sages Temple.
◾️Others:
There are also Yunmen Mountain (a huge Shou character), Huanghua Creek, and the Sleepless City that I didn't have time to go to.
🚗Transportation:
Usually take a taxi, not expensive.
🍱Eating:
I found that many of the foods here are halal, and there are many Hui people's shops on the road. It is said that these people settled down after a big migration.
Qi Ji soil chicken rice noodles are in the ancient city, there are a lot of people, but it is really delicious.
Breakfast at Wang Zhiyong's breakfast shop.
The local dishes of the Old Street Impression are not used to eating, the halal Longsheng pastries are a bit too sweet...

Hades.
It is the east gate of ancient Nanyang City. It was built in the early period of the Northern Wei Dynasty and is more than 1,500 years old. When the Ming Dynasty was called "Haicang Gate", the Qing Dynasty was renamed "Haicang Gate", which is the only passage connecting ancient Nanyang City to the East Gate. It is now a very busy commercial street.
