Penang, Malaysia, is a must-stay destination for couples on vacation – the hotels are incredibly photogenic!

In Malaysia, there is a city that seems not to be part of Malaysia, but rather somewhere in China. Yet, it is indeed in Malaysia, and not a piece of the mainland that drifted over from the sea; it boasts the best food in the country, much of which has been influenced by Chinese cuisine; it has a unique ability to stop time, preserving the moments of the years right there. That city is Penang. Besides its culinary delights, it is also perfect for a romantic getaway. Today, I'm going to share three hotels that are great for photography and ideal for couples! 👍 Highly recommended: Shangri-La's Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa, Penang Average price 1000-1500, stunning environment – excellent service, facilities, hygiene, and soundproofing! In Batu Ferringhi, Penang, there are two Shangri-La hotels next to each other, and I recommend the Rasa Sayang Shangri-La more. At Rasa Sayang Shangri-La, there are the Garden Wing and the Rasa Wing, and guests staying in suites and the Rasa Wing not only enjoy daily afternoon tea and cocktail hours in the lounge, but also have access to unlimited soft drinks and fruits at all hotel pools from 9 am to 5 pm – which is why choosing a good hotel is essential for a vacation. Even if it's a bit pricier, it's worth it! The hotel has an excellent ecological environment; I really love Penang! 👍 Highly recommended: ParkRoyal Penang Resort Average price 550-1000, good environment, service, hygiene, soundproofing, and views! On the beach of Batu Ferringhi, Penang – the ParkRoyal resort, part of the Pan Pacific Hotels Group, is also very beautiful! It's very suitable for a couple's vacation. ParkRoyal, like Anantara, Kempinski, The Nai Harn, Capella, Sukhothai, is part of GHA Discover, so there are related membership benefits! A lazy afternoon – holiday time in Penang is so comfortable! After spending three months on vacation in Thailand, I thought I would be tired of the sea when I came to Malaysia. But surprisingly, even though there are quite a few guests in the hotel, it still feels very cozy, quiet, and comfortable, with a completely different vacation atmosphere from Thailand. A romantic seaside dinner in the evening, with the sunset and twilight so beautiful it's intoxicating! 👍 Highly recommended: Amari Penang Average price 600-1200, a new hotel with great facilities! Apart from the seaside – there are also good options in the city area of Penang! The Amari Penang, which just opened at the end of 2022, has a simple style, bright colors, and great window views – I quite like it! The executive lounge at Amari Penang is also very nice! Penang is the most artistic place in Malaysia in my eyes, where you can enjoy the fusion of Chinese and Western cuisine in Penang, and have a perfect trip away from the crowds. #mymymemories Amaya Food Gallery at Amari SPICE Penang started serving lunch buffets and I thought it'd be a great chance for us to try it out! As of posting (Aug 2023), the lunch buffet is priced at RM98 per person, and RM68 for child or senior citizen. The theme for today's buffet was "Melting Pot", and it featured local dishes, along with some thai dishes as well. The crowd favorite (my family 🤣) was the Chicken 65 - juicy and succulent, and very fragrant from the spices! My parents specifically loved the fried bihun! There was also ice cream potong available for dessert! The buffet was a little lacking in terms of choices, but we are hopeful as they are slowly growing in number of patrons! Relaxing Workcation at Amari Spice Penang ✨

One of the best workcations! The Deluxe Room was clean with a lovely view of Spice Garden. Bed and pillows were comfortable. Soundproof walls and very peaceful environment. 🥱💤 The housekeeping staff was fast in response time and refills the complimentary nutmeg sweets daily. Breakfast buffet spread is one of the best in Penang Island, with a wife variety of pastries, western & asian cuisine. The smoothies were very yummy! 😋 Come on a weekday, there are barely any guests so you will be able to relax by the pool after a long day. Sip on a glass of complimentary iced lemongrass juice by the poolside while working on your latest ideas. 🍹 The hotel is located right next to Spice Convention Centre and has a huge park for the kids to play & run. ⛹️‍♂️🤾‍♀️ Price was RM336/day on a normal weekday. Unplanned memorable stay at Amari Spice

❤️Amari Spice has been a surprise. We’re staying here for a night because no water supply at my house in bayan lepas area. ❤️The room is smart and clean and the bathroom is well appointed. ❤️The food was surprisingly good - the lamb rogan josh was well presented, packed with flavour and of course only had one large bone to deal with. The duck ragout was very tasty. ❤️The hotel has only been open a short while but if they can maintain this standard they should do well. #awesomepic #mytripvlog

Hotel located at bayan lepas, penang. That is wonderful experience when we stay here with family members. Looking to the facade with modern architecture design will attracted you to come over. The staff was good, service was excellent, 5 stars gymnasium, location wise on take you about 10 minutes from Penang International Airport and the most prominent attraction for my personal of view is their building outlook. I am very excited to know that Amari - a well known brand in Thailand has set foot in Malaysia especially in Penang. After a week by the sea, I returned to Penang city and checked into the Amari Hotel, which just opened at the end of last year. The suite I'm staying in today has a minimalist style, bright colours, and a great view from the window - I quite like it! The executive lounge at the Amari Hotel in Penang also looks pretty good! I made myself an Aperol Spritz, finished it and went downstairs for a buffet dinner. The recent Ramadan buffet dinner is really great! Not only is it super rich, but there are also many delicacies that I can't usually eat, it feels like celebrating the New Year with them! Penang is the most artistic place in Malaysia in my opinion. Here you can taste the fusion of Chinese and Western food in Penang, and also have a perfect trip off the peak of the crowd! Malaysia's holiday paradise, a city famous for its food, the diversified architectural culture reveals the atmosphere of Chinese architecture. The perfect combination of local characteristics of Penang and Western architectural culture is unique and impressive! New hotel at town. Clean room, big parking, friendly staff, etc. We went on christmas day they gave us christmas gift (candy and biscuits) which the kids loved it. Easy access to town i.e. to mall/queensbay mall/nearby to famous food stall. 🥗 A Unique Thai Tea Affair 🍵

#hiddengems Weekend getaways would not be complete without a relaxing tea time at the hotel for a tete-a-tete with the family. And unlike typical tea sets we were accustomed to with sandwiches and other finger food, the Afternoon Thai Tea Affair set at Cascade- the lobby lounge at Amari Spice, offered a pleasant surprise. The tea selection included 'miang kham'- a traditional Thai appetiser which we missed and loved! We also love the otak-otak spring roll! This was followed by popcorn chicken with tomato salsa, tuna poke bowl, scones, cakes, tarts and mango mousse topped with generous mango bites. We opted for TWG tea instead of bobba milk tea to ensure our palette were cleansed between the savoury and sweet snacks. I have to say, my partner and dad who both do not quite enjoy the typical tea time desserts found this tea selection appetising and were both fully contented. Mum is recommending her friends, so you know what that means. For those who prefer a unique tea time, this tea set is perfect for you. Try it out. This is a hidden gem for tea time! #weekendgetaways The highlight of any stay for me is always the swimming pool. A plus point if the outdoor gardens offer lush greeneries. And this is exactly what Amari Spice offered. The facilities level, albeit rather small, was a perfect spot to unwind and simply enjoy the weekend. It connects directly to the Bamboo Garden at the Spice Arena, offering additional greeneries for brisk walks around the hotel grounds.The well quipped gym overlooks the swimming and the Spice Arena beyond. And since it is the Christmas Season,there were beautiful decorations dotting the lobby and the F&B areas! An extra bonus for a weekend getaway!

#christmas2023 It's the season for celebrations and what better way than to celebrate with good food! So we headed over to Amaya Food Gallery to try out the Melting Pot Buffet lunch which is available on weekends. We were greeted with a cosy Christmas setting at the entrance and tasteful decorations throughout the buffet bar. The buffet selection included a fusion of local and Thai cuisine, from the cold section to the made-to-order section. This included Thai cold salads, made to order boat noodles and Tomyam, as well as other local favourites. The dessert section was wonderful with a range of ice creams and cakes. We also love the DIY coffee and tea making facility included in the buffet. Ambiance was cosy and inviting with cute Christmas decorations dotting each table, and the service crew were friendly and attentive. It's located just beside the Setia Spice Convention Centre, and is also very near to the airport (10 mins drive) and Queensbay Mall (13 mins drive). We enjoyed the beautiful setting of the Cascade Cafe at the ground floor. There was a selection of pastries but we opted for a Chocolate Tart and Spiced Tea. The tea was the highlight for us, served and stirred with lemongrass! Back in December 2022, we also had the chance to dine at the Amaya Food Gallery for the Special Christmas Buffet. What was most memorable to us was the gorgeous high ceiling at the restaurant, and the amazing spread of seafood available for us! Admittedly, we've never stayed at Amari before, but we're definitely planning a staycation soon to experience this beautiful hotel in full-fledged!

The style of this suite I'm staying in today is simple and the bright colors are great. I quite like the window view! The executive lounge of the Penang Amari Hotel also looks very nice! The semi buffet dinner menu is available only from Monday to Thursday and is priced at RM68+ and RM88+. We had the Australian Certified Beef Ribeye Steak, Pan Seared Salmon and Pan-grilled Chicken paired with Chermoula sauce. Each order came with sautéed vegetables and you can select different choice of sauces as an accompaniment to your mains. The buffet spread included a raw salad bar, international mixed salad including nicoise salad, soup and rolls, local and asian salads, as well as various cakes, hot dessert, local kuihs, fruits, ice creams and mocktails. We especially love the crepes which were freshly made. There was free flow of coffee and tea as well. The ambiance is relaxing and tastefully designed.
