📍Amami Oshima, Kagoshima Prefecture Amami Oshima is located south of Kagoshima. Located between Kagoshima Prefecture and Okinawa, the island is the third largest in Japan. Amami Oshima, with its spectacular coastline and rich virgin forests, has a unique charm. I will introduce the spots I visited this time along with my experiences. ⚫︎Kinsakubaru Primeval Forest A famous spot as the location for the movie "Godzilla vs. Mothra". It looks like Japan, but it's not Japan. The freshness of the trees and the plants you've never seen before make you think Godzilla might appear. You can hear the birds singing. Since 2019, it has become mandatory to have a certified guide accompany you on this tour. If you want to go, please make sure to book a tour 🕵🏻♀️ ⚫︎Cape Ayamaru A spectacular spot located at the northernmost tip of Amami Oshima. The blue color is so beautiful that it's amazing. It's close to the airport, so it's easy to access. You should definitely plan to see it one last time! ⚫︎Heart Rock Heart Rock is famous as a power spot for love. However, there are set times when you can see it. [At low tide, when the waves are calm an hour before and after] It's not a view you can see at any time, so be sure to check the low tide times before going to see it. ⚫︎Kagambana Sunset Only for a few days before and after the spring and autumn equinoxes, you can see the sun completely enter the "Kagambana Tunnel." It's called "Dragon's Eye" or "Dragon Eye" because it looks like a dragon's face with eyes🐉 When you go there at sunset, there are cars lined up... We went to Amami Oshima in October. My partner is a wheelchair user with hemiplegia, so the biggest problem we had was whether there was a multi-purpose toilet when we went on a trip. We couldn't get from the parking lot to Heart Rock in a wheelchair. A normal wheelchair can't go on the beach, and there are branches and a slight difference in elevation even on the beach, so unfortunately we gave up. This often happens when you're in a wheelchair. The sea, sky, and plants were like a different world that I'd never seen before. The plants in Tanaka Isson's paintings and the sky's clear color, so clear that you can't tell the difference between the color of the real sea and the color of the postcard. The sound of the wind, the birds, the insects... The natural nature of Amami makes you forget time. The Seto Inland Sea where we stayed had calm waves, and we spent a truly peaceful time with nothing happening, with only the moonlight illuminating the shore. At Mangrove Park, my partner and I were able to experience canoeing together. The staff helped us transfer. It's a mysterious island that makes you lose track of the day and time, so much so that I can't even remember the last time I was so wrapped up in nature and not thinking about anything. The "Ungyal Bowl" is a local bowl of rice on Amami Oshima, topped with fillets of Ungyalmatsu and tempura of seaweed, and is eaten with fish soup👍️ Ungyalmatsu is a type of blue sea bream, and is called Ungyal in Amami Oshima!! The soup was light and smooth with a strong dashi stock flavor!!
