The hotel offers several free wellness experiences for guests, including yoga, meditation, qigong, and essential oil making, which are very interesting. It was here that I finally realized the beauty of a healing hotel. I started the day with a morning yoga session that was relaxing, nourishing, and energizing, followed by a hearty and healthy breakfast. It was unhurried, quiet, and unpretentious, and the essence of Chiang Mai was all around. If you are looking for the hustle and bustle of a busy street, this hotel is not as convenient as the ones in the old town. But if you want to escape from the hustle and bustle of life for a while, this is a healing journey worth trying.

The hotel is imbued with a unique cultural atmosphere. Each morning starts with yoga and mindfulness meditation, followed by a refreshing and healthy breakfast after the exercise. Staying here allows one to relax both body and mind, and to focus on inner feelings. Aleenta seamlessly integrates environmental protection and support for local crafts into every detail of the hotel. The snacks and water provided in the rooms are all in glass containers, and the toiletries are stored in ceramic containers. The hand-carved wooden fish and frogs are not only toys for entertainment but also secret signals for communicating with the room service staff. Placing them on the bed means 'bed linen change needed,' and at the door means 'do not disturb.' The restaurant offers authentic Northern Thai cuisine, influenced by the dietary cultures of Myanmar, Laos, and China's Xishuangbanna, as Northern Thailand was once the long-independent Lanna Kingdom. Northern Thai dishes are relatively mild in flavor, following ancient cooking methods, with dishes like herb-grilled chicken skewers, lemon fish soup, and curry pineapple rice highly recommended. During meditation, I changed into a set of white cotton clothes prepared by the hotel, which were very skin-friendly. When it was time to leave, no one wanted to part with them, so we bought the same ones from the hotel boutique to take home. A closer look at the handmade clothes and backpacks displayed in the boutique reveals the artistic temperament that flows in the blood of Thai craftsmen.

Attracted by a photo of a swimming pool on a certain platform, and it being an LHW hotel, I chose it, but the actual experience was just like staying at an upscale B&B. This is a hotel under the Lidengshi Hotel Group, mainly a luxury single hotel alliance, abbreviated as LHW. I rarely share hotels under LHW, but during this trip to Chiang Mai, I saw that Lidengshi has two hotels in Chiang Mai, and I chose one of them, which is the Aleenta Retreat Chiang Mai that I'm sharing today. When I stayed at this LHW hotel in Chiang Mai, I actually had expectations because the other hotels I've stayed at under this group were quite good, but this one in Chiang Mai really did not meet the standards of an LHW hotel, and the whole experience was disappointing. Upon arrival at the hotel, the first impression was that the location was so remote, with barren hills behind the hotel. The hotel's entrance was very small, you might think it's a private house if you don't look closely, or you might say it's a B&B, not the luxurious boutique alliance LHW I imagined. From the moment the hotel staff prepared ice towels and special drinks to the welcome fruits and handwritten cards in the room, I felt that the details were quite good, and the experience was indeed quite pleasant at that time. The room I stayed in was about 45 square meters, and the minibar was very rich, with coffee, tea, water, etc., but this hotel does not focus on healthy food, such as the snacks in the room drawers that do not have a production expiration date, you don't know the production date, so naturally, you dare not use them. The basic room type, deluxe room, has double basins, which is commendable. The bathroom is very spacious, and the toiletries are bottled, I don't know what brand they use, but it smells very Thai. All deluxe room types in the hotel do not come with a bathtub, positioned as a luxury boutique hotel, and the basic room doesn't even have a bathtub? This can reflect the upper and lower limits of a hotel. A 45 square meter room comes with a small balcony. The bedding was quite comfortable, and I quite liked the overall style. What impressed me in the room were the bathrobes and pajamas, two sets of them, the fabric was very comfortable, especially the pajamas and sleep pants were very comfortable. If you like them, you can contact the hotel front desk to purchase, but you cannot take them away. The evening turndown service was also very thoughtful, with local snacks and a card prepared. Actually, there was nothing wrong with the room itself, the only downside is the price, which doesn't even include a bathtub? The real disappointment was the hotel breakfast. During the two days of my stay, there wasn't much to eat for breakfast, limited to only two items per order, clearly showing cost-cutting, and the ingredients were not fresh. The coffee was terrible, compared to the coffee at the Chiang Mai Intercontinental and Chiang Mai Marriott, it was much worse, just because the coffee beans were not good, the quality was far too poor, and yet the price was more expensive than the other hotels. The hotel restaurant's food control was not strict, and I encountered un fresh food in both meals, which I did not expect. The drinks I ordered had spoiled strawberries on top, and the taste was off. Don't think it's good just because it's an LHW hotel under Lidengshi. The hotel's location is very poor, the dining prices are high, it's inconvenient to go out, and the food safety control is not strict. It relies on that popular swimming pool in the courtyard and the LHW brand to maintain its price. With this price, the quality of the ingredients cannot be guaranteed, this hotel does not deserve to join LHW, and its operational level does not meet the standards of international chain hotels. The swimming pool closes at 7 pm.

This trip to Thailand really uncovered a lot of treasures. The last trip to Thailand in 2019 was Chiang Mai. The first trip to Thailand in 2023, of course, was also Chiang Mai. Chose a brand new niche luxury resort hotel Aleenta. The small courtyard gives a sense of seclusion from the world. The hotel area is not particularly large but full of details. The buildings of the entire hotel are products of the Nara Dynasty. Each plank and block was readjusted and reassembled. It feels like living in a huge museum. There are several different types of rooms in the hotel area. My favorite is the villa type. It's very suitable for a big family to stay, perfect for a vacation with family. ✔️To do list ▫️SPA The hotel's Spa is really amazing. Mr. Khun Alfa is a well-known master throughout Chiang Mai. A simple diagnosis revealed the problems with my body. A personalized spa and Sing bowl course were designed according to my situation. ▪️Cooking class The restaurant's food is really amazing. We signed up for a cooking class. Under the chef's guidance, we made our own lunch. It was truly an unforgettable memory. ▫️Other The bar above the restaurant is where I go every day. Staring at the swimming pool and chilling is really nice. When there's time, you can also visit the library to read some books. Sunbathe by the pool. Participate in the hotel's yoga classes, etc.

Amazing stay at Chiang Mai. The Resort, Aleenta Retreat, is perfect for a relaxing break to City life. Very close attention to detail from all staff and cute little details like a daily bedtime story everyday makes the experience fun. Highlights of the trip are the One Nimman, White Market and Maya Centre - lots to eat, see and buy, seemed a balanced offering between local entertainment and more international/upmarket brands. Atmosphere was fantastic. Chiang Mai feels a lot different than coming here pre-Covid times and will surely be back soon! Khop Khun Khrap!
