[Gunma Prefecture/Akagi Shrine] I'm glad I went in 2023! Shrines in Gunma Prefecture ④
Akagi Shrine is said to be the head shrine of about 300 shrines across the country.
(There are various theories)
It is enshrined on Kotorigashima Island on the east shore of Lake Onuma.
The closer we got to Mount Akagi, the thicker the fog got. 🙌
The glittering vermilion shrine stands on the misty lakeside.
It's so magical! ️
Walking around the grounds while looking at the lake🚶♀️
I enjoyed the different atmosphere from usual🎶
There were quite a lot of gifts to choose from, so I had a hard time deciding, but I received a rare, extra-large amulet❣️
The design of Akagihime👸 is lovely😆✨

❥❥History
Originally, Akagi Daimyojin, a nature god, and Akanuma Okami, a swamp god, were enshrined here.
In the first year of the Daido era (806) of the 51st Emperor Heijō, the shrine was moved to O-do on the banks of Lake Onuma.
Later, Tokugawa Ieyasu was enshrined in the co-shrine.
The shrine was rebuilt in 1642 by order of Tokugawa Iemitsu.
This rebuilt shrine building fell into disrepair over the course of 300 years, and in 1912 it was moved from O-hora to the site of Itsukushima Shrine on Kotorigashima Island (its current location). And it has remained there ever since. ┈┈┈┈┈┈┈ ❁ ❁ ❁┈┈┈┈┈┈┈
