Türkiye Travel Notes Izmir Ancient Roman Market Ruins Walking through the Historical Traces
Agora Açıkhava Müzesi is a magnificent Greco-Roman ruins that is now an open-air museum.
Agora means "market". Built during the Alexander period, it was damaged by an earthquake in 178 AD and was later destroyed by the earthquake. In the second century, Roman King Marcus Aurelius rebuilt it and strengthened many arch structures to prevent earthquakes. You can admire the ruins and the pillars that have survived for thousands of years.
