#Japan Attractions Cape Toi is located on the eastern coast of Kyushu facing the Pacific Ocean, at the southernmost tip of Miyazaki Prefecture. This is a place with few people and beautiful natural scenery. The grasslands around the cape are natural pastures where about 100 wild horses called Misaki horses live. This is a pure native Japanese horse and is designated as a "National Natural Monument of Japan". Since they were first raised in Mizakimaki (now Cape Toi) in 1697, they have lived a free life without being managed by humans for three hundred years. If you like horses, you should plan more time here, as this is one of the few precious places where you can observe wild horses up close. Cape Toi also has about 3,000 cycads (the plants on the left in Figure 2), a native species of Japan. Cycads are said to have not evolved since 200 million years ago, so they are called living fossils and are designated as "Japan's National Natural Monument." Cape Toi Lighthouse is one of the few lighthouses in Japan that you can walk into. It is a beautiful lighthouse with superb views both from the outside and from the inside looking out. From the Toi Cape Lighthouse, which is surrounded by cycads, you can have a panoramic view of the entire Pacific Ocean. Miyazaki Prefecture, located in the southeastern part of Kyushu, is a place rich in natural and cultural resources. Here's some information about Miyazaki: Tourist Attractions - Takachiho Gorge: Formed by volcanic activity from Mount Aso, this gorge features 100-meter-high cliffs, primeval forests, and the Gokase River flowing through it. Visitors can take a boat tour to admire the Manai Falls. The fresh greenery of summer and the autumn leaves make it a beautiful sight, with mid-November to late November being the best time to visit.  - Udo Shrine: A rare shrine built on a cliff facing the Nichinan Coast in Nichinan City. The vermilion main hall is located inside a cave in the cliff wall. It is known for its blessings related to safe childbirth, child-rearing, and marriage. The unique way of making wishes here, called "Undama," is very popular.  - Aoshima Shrine: Located on Aoshima Island in Miyazaki City, this shrine is surrounded by a unique rock formation called "Oni-no-Sentakuita" (Devil's Washboard). It attracts many visitors as a sacred place for marriage. The island offers many photo spots and is about a 10-minute walk from Aoshima Station on the JR Nichinan Line.  - Sun Messe Nichinan: Home to the only Moai statues in the world officially replicated with permission from Easter Island. They sit facing the sea, and it is said that making a wish while hugging a statue can bring different kinds of good fortune.  - Toi Cape: Here you can see the Misaki horses, a national natural monument. Standing 130cm tall, they create a soothing scene against the backdrop of the vast ocean. - Horse's Back: This cliff has the highest elevation in Japan. From the observatory, you can see a panoramic view of the spectacular ria coast and the Pacific Ocean. Recommended Food - Charcoal-grilled Chicken: Also known as Miyazaki Jidori Charcoal Grill, this dish uses Japanese chicken grilled by experienced chefs. The chicken absorbs the aroma of the charcoal and retains its juices, making it a perfect match for shochu or beer. - Hiyajiru Cold Soup: A traditional local dish made with dried sardines, tofu, cucumber, eggplant, barley rice, and green perilla. It has a refreshing taste with the savory flavor of the sea and the aroma of myoga ginger. - Chicken Nanban: A classic dish made with fresh chicken cut into pieces, marinated in egg and a special sauce, coated in flour, shaped into balls, and deep-fried until golden brown.

#January travel support event At Toy Cape, you can meet horses grazing in nature up close Because Toy Cape gets dark quickly I don't recommend visiting late at night! You can meet horses closer than in Jeju Island It's not dangerous because the horses don't approach people.

Cape Toi is located at the southernmost point of Miyazaki and also the southernmost tip of Japan's main island. This is a sanctuary for wild horses, where the horses, grasslands, and ocean create a picturesque scene. Especially during sunset, it is incredibly romantic. Within the area, there is a lighthouse you can climb, the Misaki Shrine perched on a cliff, and a camping area that looks like luxury glamping. We chose to visit near sunset this time, and it was truly beautiful. We were very lucky to see wild horses everywhere. A reminder for those driving: remember to slow down, as horses might appear on the road.
