Longest Surviving temple in Macao!🇲🇴
#timetotravel
Spanning multiple levels, A-Ma Temple comprises several pavilions, courtyards, and prayer halls dedicated to different deities. The temple's namesake, the goddess A-Ma, is revered as the protector of seafarers and fishermen, making it a place of pilgrimage for locals and visitors alike. Apart from its spiritual significance, A-Ma Temple also offers breathtaking views of the surrounding natural beauty. Strolling through the temple's tranquil courtyards, I found myself immersed in a realm of spirituality and serenity. The air was filled with the fragrance of incense, and the rhythmic sounds of devotees and monks added to the solemn atmosphere.
No entrance fee to enter the temple. Address: Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro, Macao.

Historical and Cultural heritage
#timetotravel #macaulifestyle #macautrip #timetotravel #historicalplace #Cultural Macao was the first European enclave in Asia. Its colonial history started with the arrival of Portuguese tradesmen in 1557. Over the years they developed Macao into one of the major trade ports in Asia - as a stopover on the route to Japan or as part of the Silk Route by sea. Macao is also the longest-lasting and finest example of interchange between Chinese and Western civilizations. The monuments that make up this WHS are divided into two zones: The central area can be found along the Rua Direita, leading from the ancient Chinese harbour in the south to the old Christian city in the north. Major monuments here are the A-Ma temple, the Leal Senado Square and the Ruins of St. Paul's Church.

Mazu in Cantonese, Ma'ge in transliteration, Macao.
Foreign sailors' first stop upon landing in Macau is the A-Ma Temple.
So they called it Macao.
Goodbye, Mazu [folded hands]
The first time I saw the fragrance here, it was in a circular shape.
Sailors are supposed to come back safely.
After coming out of Mazu Temple, there is a small green western-style building on the left side of the small square.
Here is the administrative building of the Maritime Museum.
Working here should be very happy.
The green walls mix with white blinds.
Love this kind of cute and stylish house too much.
So romantic!
Take a rest on the chair after taking photos of the house.
I'll cross the road and take the bus back to the old city area.
In the gap of waiting for the bus, took a series of riverbank portraits.
Sometimes there is no fixed check-in.
Occasionally, the places we encounter are also very comfortable.
Blow the wind of the Greater Bay Area.

A-Ma Temple already existed before the city of Macao came into being. The name “Macao” is believed to derive from the Chinese “A-Ma-Gau” meaning “Bay of A-Ma”, on which A-Ma Temple is located. A-Ma Temple is situated halfway up the western slope of Barra Hill. It consists of the Gate Pavilion, the Memorial Arch, the Prayer Hall, the Hall of Benevolence, the Hall of Guanyin, and Zhengjiao Chanlin (a Buddhist pavilion),each forming a small part of the well-ordered complex which sits in perfect harmony with the natural environment. The variety of pavilions dedicated to the worship of different deities in a single complex make A-Ma Temple an exemplary representation of Chinese culture inspired by Confucianism, Taoism, Buddhism and multiple folk beliefs.

One of Macau’s most visited museums, Macao Maritime Museum is located in Barra Square, opposite to the famous A-Ma Temple.
The museum sums up a variety of stories, from the development of the fishing industry and boat construction to the early Portuguese exploration of Macau and within the context of greater South China. It is divided into four different areas: maritime ethnology, maritime history, maritime technology, and the aquarium. The latter is a gallery of four aquariums, each representing a specific sub-aquatic environment where different species of fish can be observed.

The A-Ma Temple is a destination offering silence and spectacular views. It contains six main parts, all of which make up a series of classical Chinese architectural treasures, and this is all guarded by stone lions. Entering it and going across a gateway, you will reach the Hongren Hall by a winding path. A statue of Mazu is worshipped here, and it is believed that the hall has the longest history in the complex. Going ahead, the Hall of Avalokitesvara will present itself to visitors. It was constructed mainly using bricks and stone in a simple style. Compared with the other halls, the Zhengjiao Chanlin (a Buddhist hall) was designed tastefully both in regards to size and architectural style.

A-MA TEMPLE
Dedicated to the goddess Matsu, the splendid A-Ma Temple (Templo de A-Má) was built on the Macau Peninsula in 1488 and was the inspiration for the renaming of the city by the Portuguese a few decades later. Part of Macau's UNESCO Historic Center, this Buddhist temple is one of the city's most important religious sites and is well worth exploring.
Divided into six easily accessible sections - the Gate Pavilion, Prayer Hall, Memorial Arch, Hall of Benevolence, Zhengjiao Chanlin, and Hall of Guanyin - this temple features numerous interesting things to see, from its many fierce-looking stone lions and statues of the goddess Matsu to shady spots to stop and contemplate the serenity of the temple grounds, as well as spectacular views over the bay.
The Foraleza do Monte is located right next to the ruins of St. Paul's Cathedral.

Very cool architecturally and lots of interesting nooks and crannies to explore, although you'd be hard pressed to spend more than 20-30 minutes here, even with a guide explaining things to you (as we had). Very strong incense smell as there are lots of places for people to burn incense that lasts for days. Should be included on any thorough Macau itinerary.

"Farewell to Macau"
Macau is really a place where happiness is bursting, so we smashed the romance and color of the sugar
Portuguese architecture in Macau. Falling from the gaps in the leaves of the street, the corner of the mouth is a sweet Portuguese egg tart ~
I recalled that I came to Macau for the first time many years ago. I pressed the road with my friends in the early morning, those unique tiles, charming street lamps. Like the scene in the movie!
In short, there are endless stories in Macau and I look forward to the next trip to Macau! Chengdu travels to and from Macau, Macau Airlines direct flights, short time, easy to arrive! On the plane, you can experience Macao's delicious food first, why the flight attendants are hot and beautiful!
~ I really cant leave! See you next time.

The Sea Breeze Brings Fragrance - A Thousand Years of Prayers at A-Ma Temple
Stepping into A-Ma Temple, the ancient scent of incense greets you, carried by the sea breeze, as if transporting you back to the maritime era hundreds of years ago. The temple is nestled among verdant hills, with its red walls and golden tiles shining brightly, and the strong atmosphere of prayers fills the entire space.
Climbing the stone steps, which bear the footprints of countless devotees, you reach the solemn and mysterious statue of Mazu inside the temple. Worshippers hold incense sticks, whispering their wishes to the goddess who protects those at sea. The intricate wood carvings and murals around tell the story of Mazu's faith and its heritage in Macau.
Standing outside the temple, gazing at the shimmering Pearl River Estuary with boats passing by, it feels as if Mazu's protection still watches over these waters. The stone tablets beside the temple record a long history, witnessing Macau's prosperity and changes. At this moment, I feel a sense of peace and connection that transcends time, as if no matter how the times change, A-Ma Temple remains the spiritual home of this land.

A-Ma Temple: The oldest temple in Macau.
After leaving Tak Seng On, I walked into the alley across the street to look for the Qingping Theater. Deep in the alley, I found the Qingping Theater, but it was just four red characters on a tall wall.
Next, I went to look for the Opium House. I walked back and forth several times on a street called Yemu, carefully confirming the marked point on the map, and found that it was just an ordinary building, with no relevant signs or introductions nearby.
I walked through the surrounding old streets and alleys to the Rua de Belém on the banks of the Inner Harbor, where the tall buildings of Zhuhai on the opposite side of the river were clearly visible. I walked south along this road, took a bus for one stop, and arrived at A-Ma Temple.
A-Ma Temple, commonly known as Tianhou Temple, was built during the Hongzhi or Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty and is the oldest temple in Macau. The temple was built on the reefs by the sea, rising with the mountain, and includes the main gate, the archway, the main hall, the Hongren Hall, the Guanyin Pavilion, and other buildings. Except for the Guanyin Pavilion, which is dedicated to Guanyin, the rest are dedicated to Mazu. Because it was built on the reef, the buildings are not large.
The main hall is known as the "First Hall of the Divine Mountain," and includes walls and wall bodies, all built with stone. The Hongren Hall on the mountainside uses the mountain rock as the back wall, and the roof and walls are all enclosed with granite. It is a stone chamber of only three square meters, which is believed to be the first building completed in the temple.
I climbed up the steps built on the reef, and along the way, I saw many ancient stone carvings, which made me feel that although Macau had left the embrace of its mother for many years, its cultural roots were difficult to sever. When I reached the top, I saw the beautiful scenery on the other side of the Inner Harbor through the dense forest.
Facing the right side of the mountain gate, there is also a Zhengjue Zen Forest, where the main hall is the Mazu Hall, and the Tianhou is still enshrined. In front of the main hall stands an archway with the plaque "Wan Pai Chao Zong." This main hall was built in the late Qing Dynasty, and because it is on flat ground, it is larger in scale. In the 1980s, a fire broke out, and the local government rebuilt it according to its original appearance.

A-Ma Temple
A-Ma Temple (A-Ma Temple) is a famous temple in Macau where people often go to pray for blessings in their careers, finances, and overall good fortune. Those who worship here often find improvements in their work and financial situations. The temple is dedicated to Mazu, the Chinese sea goddess, and is located in São Lourenço, Macau, China. Built in 1488, it is one of the oldest temples in Macau. The A-Ma Temple was established before the city of Macau itself and includes an entrance gate, a memorial arch, prayer halls, the Hall of Benevolence, the Hall of Guanyin, and the Buddhist Pavilion of Sheng Chao Chan Lin. How to worship and pray: Use incense, candles, and gold and silver paper. Then, rub a Thai banknote without the number 4 on a carved stone boat in the temple and make your wish.
