DURING THE BATTLE OF MALACCA IN .1614 AND THE OCCUPATION OF THE CITY BY THE DUTCH THE KEEP WAS DESTROYED BUT THE OUTER WALLS OF THE FORTRESS WERE REINFORCED . HOWEVER IN 1807, THE BRITISH DESTROYED MOST OF THE FORTRESS. THE PORTA DE SANTIAGO GATEWAY AND THE RESTORED MIDDLEBURG BASTION ARE THE ONLY PARTS OF .THE FORTRESS THAT REMAIN TODAY.. It's also surrounded by many museums and tourism spots. We can rent a cool and fancy beca or horse carriage around this area with an affordable price. Many budget hotels around this fort, it's really convenient to stay here. So if you're an avid history reader it's the right place to visit and widen our knowledge.

A Famosa is a Portuguese word which is also called the famous where this is one of the oldest still standing monument in malacca city located at Jalan Parameswara, Bandar Hilir, 78000 Alor Gajah, Melaka. This was said to be built I the 1511 where this was followed by a war in malacca. You will be able to have many photo shots here lime taking photos of the cannon, admiring the ceiling and war of this thick Fort, no wonder uts still standing somehow! Buit in 1521 by Portuguese nobleman Duarte Coelho, the original church at the site was called Nossa Senhora da Annunciada, dedicated to the blessed Virgin Mary. Almost 30 years later, in 1548, it was deeded to the Society of Jesus and the deeds title was received by St. Francis Xavier, widely regarded as the Catholic missionary pioneer in Southeast Asia. Since then, it underwent several expansions including the addition of a second level and a bell tower. In 1592, a burial vault was opened where prominent individuals were laid to rest. When St. Francis Xavier passed away at sea in 1553, his body was kept at this church for a period of eight months until it was shipped to Goa. Only the walls of the old church, the bell tower and the statue of St. Francis Xavier remain standing today. In its long almost five-century history, this church became witness to the conquest of the Portuguese, the Dutch, and the British of the city, making it a significant historic site and one of the most popular tourist spots in Malacca. Because of its location, the church also offers a gorgeous view of the city and its shores. Tourists flock within the premises of the church, reading the tombstone inscriptions and taking pictures. A good place to have a walk while looking at the historical view! As I arrived in Malacca, I feel very excited because I got to see the historical city for the first time. Every corner of the place got its own story especially when I visited A famosa and St Paul's Church. To get on the top of the church, you need to climb stairs and it is quite high. In 1607, the castle was bombarded by the Dutch, and only the city gate survived.

#fallingseason Early autumn we ad our vacation in Malaysia, and we dropped by Malacca for a one day trip. The most famous spot to visit is of course the A Famosa fort gate and St Paul's Hill and church. Malacca City was the capital of the Malacca Sultanate for almost 110 years from Year 1400+ till 1511 until colonized by the Portugese. This fort was built and commissioned the following year by Alfonso d Albuquerque. The fort was fortified during the Dutch occupation and then destroyed by the British when handed over. The only parts that was left is the fort gate, and still standing after 500 years. This serves as the relic of the central of Kota Melaka.

#malaka One of the places we visited when my wife and i went to Malacca Malaysia was A Famosa. A Famosa was a Portuguese fortress built in 1512 and thus it has rich history. It was certainly an eye opener for us. We also got to to enjoy the scenic view of Malacca city when we climbed up to the top. The Dutch Fortress in #malaka as one of heritage site is here at AFamosa. Went uphill, you will see the Dutch graveyards and on top of it is St Paul's Hill. This place is one of the must go especially for tourists. There are so many instagrammable spots that I wanted to take photo at but too bad I was alone here. After I went to St Paul & took pictires there, I just realise that AFamosa is actually just downhill. Ended up I went up and down 4 times. What an adventure!
