Wat Yan Ang Thong, originally named Wat Chulalok, was established in 1824 and received the royal charter of the boundary of the temple in 1827. It was probably renovated during the reign of King Nangklao. It is a temple that Kings from the reigns of Rama III to VI traveled by boat to Wat Yan Ang Thong. The origin of the temple's name is that the Mon people brought pots and boats to sell and saw a large golden basin floating in the water and then sinking, so they called this bend of the river "Yan Ang Thong". The chapel is surrounded by a glass wall. Inside is the principal Buddha image in the Mara-Vijaya attitude, cast from gold and bronze in the Sukhothai or northern style. The gable of the chapel has sculptures of Narayana and Indra. The sala and monks' quarters were donated from the palaces of the Front Palace members to be built as monastic residences.
