1. Perm's fate is different from other gulags. It was built in 1946 and operated until 1972, when it was converted into a labor camp, and was not closed until 1987. Fortunately, it was preserved at the suggestion of historians. 2. The gulag is located 100 km northeast of Perm (20 hours by train from Moscow on the Trans-Siberian Railway), about 2 hours by bus, and then about 40 minutes on foot along a path (Figures 2 and 3). 3. The village of KyynHO is also very quiet, with only a dozen or so households. The ticket price is 150 rubles, and you can ask the staff for an English/Russian explanation sheet. Because there are so few visitors, we were led by the staff, who unlocked the door to each house when we arrived, and locked it again after we had finished our visit.
