📌 Laxey, Isle of Man 🇮🇲 Here's exactly why you must consider a trip to the Isle of Man, where British meets Irish influence to form breathtaking scenery and beauty: 🏞️ Unrivalled rolling hills and beauty 🧭 Excellent walks and hikes 🏘️ Beautiful seaside villages and towns 🚢✈️ Easily accessible from many European destinations 🏍️ And of course, the bustling adrenaline of the world-famous TT races Day 1: 🚢 Our 11:15am ferry over from Liverpool, UK took us across the calm Irish Sea at a respectable pace, and allows passengers to stretch their legs out while making their way to the beautiful Isle of Man on foot or with their car in tow. 🚗 After our prompt arrival to the port of Douglas, the island's small capital city, we took the car along the bay to the suburb of Onchan to take in the views across the Douglas promenade (Picture 2). 🏠 Onwards to Laxey, a seaside village on the east side of the island, built around a former mine with houses and small quaint, local shops that span the top and bottom of the cliff. We dropped off the bags at the accommodation and took a walk from the lower part of the village down to the seafront, stopping mid-way to get a lovely view of the village (Picture 1). Day 2: 🏰 The weather was not on our side today but we weren't going to let this stop us. We explored the town of Peel on the west of the island, featuring it's striking 11th century castle, built during the time of the island's Nordic control (Picture 3). 🌊 A walk around the perimeter of the castle offers excellent views across the sea and a chance to look back on Peel town (Picture 4). 📷 Glen Maye Waterfall is not to be missed and is just 10 minutes' drive from Peel. Parking at the top, it's just a 5 minute walk down the steps to view the naturally beautiful waterfall (Picture 5). Keen hikers can take a 30 minute walk down to the beach from there. Day 3: 🚋 The weather cheered up very nicely today and offered some sun, perfect timing for our day of travelling the island's vast rail and tram network. Starting at Laxey, we took a view of the small station and headed up the 2,000ft Snaefell Summit via traditional tram (Picture 6) for impeccable views across the island (Picture 7). On a clear day, it's possible to see Northern Ireland, England and occasionally Wales. 🚂 We then took the electric tramway down to Douglas in order to eventually catch the steam train down to Ballasalla and back (Picture 8). The schedule didn't quite afford us enough time to reach Castletown. Day 4: 🏰 Our final day afforded us enough time to visit Castletown, a delightful southern settlement built around the site of the castle, another relic of Nordic control of the island. A cosy area, you can enjoy lovely strolls around the seafront when the tide is out and also take views of the bay looking towards the castle (Picture 9). 📷 Briefly before our return ferry home, we headed out of Castletown to St. Michael's Island (accessible by car) for views of the south coast and short peaceful walks (Picture 10). Planes can be seen landing and taking off from the island's airport. 🚢 Time to head back to Douglas for the 3.5hr ferry journey over to Heysham. 🇮🇲 All in all, a magical weekend and one I'd love to repeat in the future. It's so massively overlooked and offers great peace when booking at alternative times to the island TT week in May/June. #aprilblooms

Very enjoyable 4-day visit to the Isle of Man. A hidden gem of heritage transport. Snaefell Mountain Railway, Manx Electric Railway, Douglas Horse Tramway and Isle of Man Steam Railway. Transportation Tips - For a self-driving trip, rent a car in the UK and add it to your Isle of Man ferry ticket. It's very convenient to board and disembark by car. Local Attractions - Douglas is a beautiful, clean, and uncrowded city. Whether you're sitting in a restaurant or on the beach, you can enjoy the tranquil seascape. Point of Ayre Lighthouse, located at the northernmost tip of the Isle of Man, boasts a famous lighthouse and is a great place to check it out. The Thousla Cross, located at the southernmost tip of the Isle of Man, is marked by a small cross. From the hill, you can overlook the Calf of Man across the water, and on clear days, you might even spot seals. Hotel - This time, we stayed at the Queen's Hotel, which was just a few minutes' drive from the ferry. Parking is available on the street outside the hotel. Bonzai Pan Asian Kitchen 📍Address: Harris Promenade, Douglas, Isle of Man IM1 2RW 🕰️Opening Hours: 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM, 4:00 PM - 9:00 PM 💞Recommended: Tired of Western food in the UK and craving sushi and sashimi? This place won't disappoint. The food is delicious, presented, and reasonably priced. They also offer Western and Southeast Asian dishes.

The Isle of Man is renowned for its natural scenery and the famous TT motorcycle races. The island's coastal roads offer spectacular views, making them ideal for cycling and hiking. During the race season, the entire island is filled with energy and enthusiasm. The ancient churches and stone circle relics on the Isle of Man reveal its rich history. Scafell Pike is the highest mountain in England, standing at 978 metres (3,209 ft). Situated in the Lake District of Cumbria, Scafell Pike is part of a dramatic landscape and is popular with climbers and holidaymakers seeking a challenge in the outdoors. Scafell Pike is often part of the "Three Peaks" challenge, where climbers attempt to summit the highest peaks in England (Scafell Pike), Scotland (Ben Nevis), and Wales (Snowdon) within 24 hours. From the summit, climbers can enjoy spectacular views of the Lake District, including Wastwater Lake, known as the deepest lake in England. On clear days, views can extend as far as the Isle of Man and Scotland. The most popular route up Scafell Pike is from Wasdale Head, which is the quickest and most direct route to the summit. There are also longer routes from Eskdale and Borrowdale, but they offer different views. The summit of Scafell Pike was gifted as a national war monument to the British people after World War I by Lord Leconfield, in honour of the fallen soldiers. The weather on Scafell Pike can change rapidly, even in summer. Heavy fog and rain are common, so climbers need to be well prepared, both in terms of clothing and navigation equipment. Not many people heard of Isle of Man, not even say to travel to this island. Isle of Man is a really beautiful little island with awesome senery, refreshing air and friendly locals. The bus transport can get a bit nerve wreaking as i op for it but all was good. Just need to plan and identify it. Never the less, i super love this little island!#iom #isleofman

Isle of Man, beautiful virgin island. if you love nature walks with sunny, cool but extremely windy climate, you should visit Isle of Man. The only hiccup is to catch a flight here.
