Phra That In Hang, the stone of faith
If anyone is thinking of traveling to a neighboring country like Burma, the place I would like to recommend is Kyaik Hto Pagoda. It is beautiful and another impressive memory.
How to get there - You can take a cable car, but we took a 2-row car to the Kyaik Hto Pagoda pick-up and drop-off point, then walked to the hotel. If the elderly can't walk, they have a sling service for you to go up. You have to carry your own bags, someone will carry them for you. If you want to carry them yourself, they won't let you. Haha
Hotel - Kyaik Hto Hotel When you get up in the evening, you will feel less tired. The view is very beautiful. The hotel may not be luxurious, but the view is worth millions for sure. Rest your legs and regain your strength before continuing your walk.
Tourist attractions - Of course, Kyaik Hto Pagoda, or as the Burmese call it, Kyaik Thi Yo Pagoda. When you get here, you will see the power of faith of the Burmese people, whether they are children, teenagers, or adults, who come to pay homage continuously. The atmosphere is as shown in the picture.
Recommendations - This trip may have a lot of walking, but it is not difficult. In fact, I went there in 2018, when the cable car was not finished. It should be more convenient now.

Golden Rock Myanmar: The Miraculous Balancing Boulder of Faith
#springitinerary
Perched precariously on the edge of a cliff and shimmering with gold leaf, Golden Rock—also known as Kyaiktiyo Pagoda—is one of Myanmar’s most iconic pilgrimage sites. This breathtaking marvel draws thousands of devotees and travellers each year, not just for its dramatic location, but for its deep spiritual resonance.
✨ The Legend Behind the Rock
According to legend, the boulder balances on a strand of the Buddha’s hair, which prevents it from tumbling down the mountain. Believers say that only a miracle could keep the rock teetering at such an impossible angle—making it a sacred symbol of faith and devotion.
🛕 What to Expect
The Rock: Covered entirely in gold leaf applied by male devotees, the massive granite boulder is said to defy gravity as it sits atop Mount Kyaiktiyo.
Kyaiktiyo Pagoda: A small stupa sits on top of the rock, adding to its holy status.
Spiritual Energy: Many pilgrims come to meditate, pray, and make offerings, especially during full moon days and Buddhist festivals.
🌄 The Journey There
Getting to Golden Rock is part of the adventure:
1. By Bus: From Yangon to Kinpun Base Camp (approx. 5–6 hours).
2. By Truck: From Kinpun, open trucks drive pilgrims up a steep, winding road to the top.
3. Final Hike: A short uphill walk (or optional cable car) leads to the summit and the pagoda complex.
⛅ Best Time to Visit
November to March (cool, dry season) is ideal.
Evening visits offer a magical view of the rock glowing at sunset, and early morning mists add a mystical aura.
❤️ Why It’s Unmissable
Golden Rock is not just a stunning sight—it’s a place where faith meets nature, where myth and reality blur, and where every step feels deeply meaningful. Whether you're spiritual or just love an epic view, it’s an unforgettable highlight of any Myanmar journey.

[Myanmar🇲🇲] Kyaiktiyo walking route✨️
The most common way to get to Kyaikhtiyo (commonly known as Golden Rock) in Myanmar is to sit on a chair installed on the back of a large truck from the town at the foot of the mountain.
However, you can also access it on foot.
We went there by truck and returned to the foot of the mountain by foot. Kyaikhtiyo itself was wonderful, but the walking route felt like a path to worship, and we passed monks along the way, and at the rest area that served snacks and drinks, we also met local people who were about to head to Kyaikhtiyo.
On the way, we could see several pagodas under construction and baskets for offerings, giving us a glimpse of a more realistic Myanmar.
Although there is a path, there are steep areas and slippery stairs, so we recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes that you are used to wearing, and be sure to bring water with you, as the distance is long and there are few rest areas in some areas.

✨ Kyaikto Uncovered: Golden Rocks, Secret Waterfalls & the Best Street Food in Mon State
#springitinerary
Looking for a weekend that mixes spiritual vibes, jungle adventures, and mouthwatering eats? Kyaikto—home of Myanmar’s gravity-defying Golden Rock—delivers magic, mischief, and the stickiest coconut noodles you’ll ever taste.
🌄 First Impressions
Stepping off the Yangon bus, Kyaikto hit me with humid air thick with the scent of frying shallots, jasmine garlands, and diesel. The streets hummed with pilgrims in neon pink longyis, shouting truck drivers, and motorbikes piled with offerings for the Golden Rock.
🤣 The “I Rode a Truck Like a Sardine… and Loved It” Moment
To reach the Golden Rock, you cram into an open truck with 50 strangers. I:
Got squished next to a granny holding a live chicken
Almost lost my hat to the jungle winds
Sang Burmese pop songs at top volume with monks
*10/10 would suffer again for those sunset views.*
🍜 Foodie Heaven
Breakfast was Kyaikto’s famous “Mont Hin Gar”—rice noodles in a rich fish broth, topped with crispy split peas and way too much chili. But the real MVP? A hidden stall near the bus station selling coconut sticky rice steamed in bamboo—sweet, smoky, and impossible to stop eating.
Secret snack: The night market’s banana blossom fritters with tamarind dip.
💎 Hidden Gem: Kyaik Hto Waterfall
Everyone visits the Golden Rock (obviously). But the real adventure? A jungle trek to a tiered waterfall where you can:
✔ Swim in turquoise pools
✔ Find hidden Buddha statues in the cliffs
✔ Picnic on tea leaf salad without crowds
⏳ Weekend Itinerary (Pilgrimage & Play)
Day 1: Golden Rock Glory
5:00 AM: Sunrise truck ride up the mountain (hold onto your soul)
7:00 AM: Breakfast with monks at the summit
10:00 AM: Pilgrim people-watching (so many gold leaf rituals!)
4:00 PM: Hike to Kyaik Hto Waterfall (bring swimwear)
7:00 PM: Night market feast (try the Mon-style fish cakes)
Day 2: Countryside Feels
7:00 AM: Morning market coffee (thick as tar, sweet as sin)
9:00 AM: Bike ride to rural villages (stop at every snack stall)
12:00 PM: Learn to fold betel leaves from a granny
3:00 PM: Hammock nap at a riverside teahouse
6:00 PM: Sunset beers with a view of the Golden Rock glowing
💡 Survival Tips
✔ Pack a headscarf (required for Golden Rock entry)
✔ Wear sturdy sandals (those temple stairs are no joke)
✔ Learn “Shin byu!” (“Pilgrim!”)—gets you free snacks
Kyaikto is equal parts sacred and silly—where else can you meditate beside a golden boulder and dance with truck-drivers? 🙏 #GoldenVibes

A 2 days 1 night visit to The Golden Rock of Myanmar
#favouriteitinerary
Kyaik Htee Yoe, also known as The Golden Rock is located in Mon State of Myanmar. It has a popular myth behind its happening! This pagoda is popular due to its “floating” posture.
A few years ago, they opened up a cable car that connects you to the top directly from the half-way point. There are hotels on top as well. We stayed at this hotel called Royal Hinthara which was very close to the Pagoda itself. There are many locally made items sold there. I love the jackets available there especially. If you’re a man, you can also buy golden leaflets and paste it onto the pagoda yourself for a unique experience. Do pay a visit if you’ve never heard haven’t!

Spending a night at Thuwunna Bumi Mountain View Resort
#favouriteitinerary
Thuwunna Bumi Mountain View Resort is located in Mon State of Myanmar. It’s most ideal for people looking to visit the notorious Kyaik Htee Yoe Pagoda also known as the golden rock. We spent a night there before visiting the location as well.
The rooms are mostly in private bungalows, the staff were also very accommodating and nice even though we were walk-in customers at late night. In the morning, we got to see why the resort was so popular. They had an infinity swimming pool with the views of the mountains at the back. For paying less than $30 a night, it was definitely a steal!! They also have swings and forests all around to take beautiful pictures at or just to absorb the nature in general.
Definitely a great stop for people visiting Kyaik Htee Yoe!!

Golden Rock (Kyaiktiyo Pagoda)
Kyaiktiyo Pagoda is a well-known Buddhist pilgrimage site in Mon State, Myanmar. It is a small pagoda (7.3 m (24 ft)) built on the top of a granite boulder covered with gold leaves pasted on by its male worshippers.According to legend, the Golden Rock itself is precariously perched on a strand of Lord Buddha's hair.[1] The balancing rock seems to defy gravity, as it perpetually appears to be on the verge of rolling down the hill. The rock and the pagoda are at the top of Mt. Kyaiktiyo. Another legend states that a Buddhist monk impressed the celestial king with his asceticism and the celestial king used his supernatural powers to carry the rock to its current place, specifically choosing the rock for its resemblance to the monk's head. It is the third most important Buddhist pilgrimage site in Burma after the Shwedagon Pagoda and the Mahamuni Pagoda.

The Golden Rock of Myanmar

This place is known as the Kyaik Htee Yoe Pagoda. It is located in Mon State of Myanmar 🇲🇲.
You can travel there by getting a bus/car to Kyaik Htoe City. There will be trucks that take you directly up to the pagoda’s foot or you can also get off at the cable car point.
The place is truly marvellous at night, you may be shocked by some travellers sleeping on the floor. You will surely be fascinated by how this rock has been balancing on another rock for so long. It used to have much more distance between the rocks when I was younger but now the adults say it’s closer because of the “people”.
If you’re a man, they allow you to get very close and rub the pagoda with golden leaves!
Happy Travels ~

#Phrathat In Hang
📞Hello Hello, I heard and answered.
Kyaik Htee Yoe, or what we are familiar with as Phrathat In Hang, is located in Satheun, Myanmar. It is difficult to travel there and private cars are not allowed.
There are accommodations and restaurants at the base of the pagoda, but many people come to sleep at the pagoda because it is said that if you come to pay homage 3 times, whatever you ask for will be granted.
The name of the pagoda refers to a stone in the shape of a hermit's head, a 5.5-meter gold stone located on the edge of a steep cliff, which is unlikely to happen. Therefore, it is believed that Phra In hung it there. There is also a pagoda modeled after Phra Kesa Kaew Chulamani in heaven, on the stone for people to worship. Men can only go inside to apply gold leaf, while women can only pay homage outside.

⛰Kyaiktiyo or “Kyaiktiyo” is located on the top of Phueng Luang Mountain at an altitude of 3,615 feet above sea level.
⛰Kyaiktiyo means the hermit’s head rock. It is a large golden rock, 5.5 meters high, located on a steep cliff, defying gravity. It looks like it will fall down, but it does not. For this reason, it has been transformed into a place of worship.
🙏It is a wonder that is believed to be a rock that Indra hung up. There is also a pagoda built on the rock, which is a replica of the Phra Kesa Kaew Chulamani, which is the Phra Kesa Kaew Chulamani, the Phra Kesa Kaew Chulamani, the Phra Kesa Kaew Chulamani in the Year of the Dog.
🙏Worshiping Phra Kesa Kaew is like worshipping Phra Kesa Kaew Chulamani in heaven.
💥Phra Kesa Kaew is also known as one of the wonders of Myanmar.
🛤According to geology, Phra Kesa Kaew is the result of natural erosion of rocks. Appearing in various places around the world, but in this form it is hard to find. 🛤The cause is the lifting of the granite layer and causing cracks both vertically and horizontally. Then, water is the erosion factor, flowing along the cracks in the rock.
🗻Erosion slowly changes the shape of the rock over a long period of time, making the rock look round and deceptively like the rock has been lifted up and placed on the cliff, miraculously.

Myanmar Golden Stone
It is the Golden Rock in Myanmar, a famous pilgrimage site. It is known as one of the four great pagodas in Myanmar. The most amazing thing about the Golden Rock is that it has stood on the edge of a steep cliff for hundreds of years despite strong winds and rainstorms. It looks like it is about to fall down, but the pagoda on top has been standing for hundreds of years. This place is a must-see for foreign tourists. The reason why the Big Golden Stone can stand on the side of the mountain in such a gravity-defying way is said to be because there are three hairs of the Buddha hidden in the stone. The Burmese people regard the Golden Rock as a magical place and a Buddhist holy site that they must visit in their lifetime. Many Burmese Buddhists have come here every year to worship, make wishes and fulfill their vows since they were young.

Amazing view from mountain top
Kyite Htee Yoe Pagoda or the Golden Rock Pagoda is one of the wonder. This should really be on your travel bucket list, if visiting Myanmar. The pagoda sits on the peak of mountain with brilliant landscapes. Amazing view. People come here from far and wide to worship and add gold leaf to the rock for good luck. Best time to visit is early morning or late afternoon in time to to catch the amazing sunset from the viewpoint so plan your visit accordingly. It's a full day out. You will need to park at the main entrance and take the local lorry to the top. The transfer itself was exciting and fun ride with great view. You can also hop off the lorry half way and take the cable to the top. Plenty of vendors and shops selling local handmade crafts and yummy treats at the top. Great experience.
Highly recommended. No entrance fee.

Kyaiktiyo Pagoda in Burma is a pagoda made of two layers of stacked rocks, but it was created by nature. In addition, there is a Buddhist legend that it contains the relics of the Buddha. Buddhists therefore come to pay homage. This place has beautiful nature and is great for taking pictures. I recommend staying at Lysol Hto Hotel on the east side between six and seven in the morning for great pictures. It's really worth it and impressive.

Golden Rock in Myanmar
There are some amazing places to visit in Myanmar, the golden rock one of them. People believe that it's made by deva (goddess) and it has a historical background related to Buddhism. Such a peaceful place. It's located in the mon state, it takes about four hours from the city of Yangon. This golden rock is about 3000ft above sea level.
