First, we parked our rental car in the free parking lot in front of the Palm Springs Museum of Art. It was nice to be able to park our car for free. After that, we passed through the street with the Marilyn Monroe statue and came out onto a street with various clothing stores and restaurants. We went to a cute souvenir shop, a clothing store that looks like it could be worn at a resort, the lively restaurant Tommy Bahama Marlin Bar & Store, and Starbucks Coffee. The room was very spacious and had a kitchen, so I was able to cook my own meals and it was very comfortable. There is a golf course and tennis courts next door, so it is a great hotel for vacations. Palm Springs tram was quite an adventure. Go from 60 degree sunny weather to 35 degrees and snow! The ride up was about 10-12 mins, the tram does rotate 360 so you get a glimpse of all the views of the valley! Once at the very top, there’s multiple option of food and drinks, the hot chocolate was amazing and needed for warmth. Plenty of seating for breaks which you will need, the paths are SUPER steep! Palm Springs became famous in the 1900s, as a favorite retreat for John Muir and his daughters early in the century, and developing into a refuge for glamorous movie stars into the 1930s. Now, it’s no less fabulous, but has a more robust tourism industry accessible to all! While in Palm Springs, be sure to spend an early morning wandering through the massive, “furry” palm trees in Andreas Canyon (part of the Indian Canyons). The light is especially beautiful early in the morning, and it’s nice to be able to explore the area before the crowds start to arrive around 9:30/10:00am. Afterward, stop at the Moorten Botanical Garden to wander the really beautifully curated maze of exotic desert plants and cacti. You also won’t want to miss some of the famous Palm Springs mid-century modern design and architecture — my favorite spots are the Parker Hotel, the Palm Springs Architecture Museum, Palm Springs Art Museum’s Architecture and Design Center, Twin Palms Estates, Coachella Valley Savings and Loan, Elrod House Interior, and the Tramway Gas Station. Be sure to wander the main street to check out the beautiful mid-century home design shops and funky clothing boutiques, and enjoy the diverse food scene. Palm Springs is one of my favorite getaway spots in Southern California. Nestled in the Sonoran Desert, it’s the perfect escape if you’re looking for sunshine, relaxation, and a bit of retro charm. I visited in spring, when the weather was warm but not too hot—ideal for exploring both the city and nearby nature. One of the highlights was the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. Riding up the cliffs of Chino Canyon into the San Jacinto Mountains felt like stepping into another world. At the top, the temperature dropped, the pine trees replaced the desert landscape, and the views were absolutely stunning. We even did a short hike and caught glimpses of snow—yes, snow in the desert! Downtown Palm Springs surprised me with its stylish boutiques, art galleries, and mid-century modern architecture. We strolled through Palm Canyon Drive, stopped for coffee at a vintage café, and browsed local shops selling handmade goods and desert-themed decor. Another unforgettable experience was relaxing by the pool at our resort, surrounded by palm trees and mountain views. The pace of life there felt slower, more intentional. It’s a great place to unwind, especially with a good book and a cold drink in hand.

A cozy and relaxed airport, completely different from San Francisco or Los Angeles. It is also very convenient to rent a car. The downtown area is cute and has many free exhibition halls. You can ride the cable car to San Jacinto Mountain and go trekking in the Joshua Tree National Park.

Was in California for work for a few days and drove by Palm Springs. Joshua Tree national park was the natural attraction and that could easily eat up a day (and if you drove from Lax airport it should eat up a tank of gasoline too). You come here for the rocks, the mountains, and of course for the eccentric flora, including the namesake Joshua tree. Other destinations in the periphery include the cable car leading up to San Jacinto mountain. It is easily overflowing with people I’d say go early. There are a couple of nice botanical gardens like Moorten as well as a museum featuring fighter jets and ww2 planes. Add this altogether you shd have three days. Hotels are not cheap, but you will most likely drive and will be able to pickup some nice airbnbs in nearby townships. I stayed in Morongo valley.

There were some parts where the prices felt expensive, but if you look for sale items, you can buy good items at surprisingly low prices. I definitely recommend visiting a local supermarket during your trip.
