Wat Phu Champasak
#asiatrip
Wat Phu (also spelled Vat Phou and various other ways of spelling) is a ruined Khmer temple complex in the south of Laos (Champasak province) and Wat Phu is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001
On either side of the temple axis there are two large buildings (the so-called "palaces"), of unknown function, each enclosing a square courtyard. These were built in the 11th or early 12th century, and still very old. The ruines are very interesting, the view from the top is great and the atmosphere is special. Champasak town is close to the temples and there are several old buildings and temples in the town as well as some guesthouses and restaurants with great Mekong river views.

The sunset over the Mekong in Pakse
Pakse is a capital city of Champasak province, located in southern Laos, where the Mekong and Xe Don rivers meet. Its central Wat Luang is a lavishly decorated Buddhist temple where monks collect alms at sunrise.
The city's past is reflected in its French colonial architecture, especially in the old quarter near Xe Don River.
We were spending someday in pakse during last winter ( February 2022)
- We went to Vat phou champasak where is the Buddhist heritage temple with a fine architecture.
- Walking a long Mekong river with a great sunshine and sunset view ever in Laos, there are several restaurants, coffee shop and hotel in the old town and along side Mekong.
The living cost is not so expect compare to Vientiane capital#staycation#mekongriver
Mekong river view
One of Pakse's older resort hotels, with a view of the Mekong River. I went to Awaran Riverside to meet a friend for a couple glasses of wine, and it was well worth the trip! To be honest, nothing spectacular, except that while we were sitting outside in the late afternoon sun, the crew arrived promptly and brought us our wine without a hitch. Although there were few people present, those that were there were enjoying the clean swimming pool. The trip was made even better by the lowering sun. If you have nothing better to do with your afternoon, it's well worth the journey. And I stayed here for a night, which was fine.

Admiring the Wat Luang
Locals consider Wat Luang to be Pakse's largest and most beautiful temple, and it also houses a number of monks who live on the premises. This is one of the greatest venues to view the famous Laotian alms offering rites, which are done by the monks. Another reason to visit is that it is one of Laos' most beautiful temples, but it is also one of the least visited, so you won't have to compete with the throng.

Hiking and coffee best match
Pakse is a city in southern Laos located at the confluence of the Mekong and Xe Don rivers. Wat Luang, in the city's center, is an ornately designed Buddhist temple where monks collect alms at sunrise. I had no idea there were so many things to do in this area. There are so many waterfalls, so I went hunting for them, hiking on trails, and then visiting a coffee plantation to sample Laos' best coffee. Also, don’t skip visiting the amazing temple ruins here.

A well spent day at the Plateau
The Bolaven Plateau is located east of Pakse. It's a long way from the more prominent Laos attractions further north, such as Luang Prabang, Luang Namtha, and the Plain of Jars. The waterfalls, on the other hand, are truly magical. Laos, despite not having the beaches of its neighbors, has spectacular forest adventures thanks to water dropping from the sky. The Bolaven Plateau's waterfalls are worth the short drive from Pakse for luxury travelers on their way to Champasak and Don Khone for the 4,000 famed islands of the lower Mekong.
#waterfall#naturalwonders#summervacation#hikingtrails#urbanexplorer
It is located just at the boarder of both countries. It is about a natural wonder of the Mekong River that is becoming very popular to see. It has already two biggest: 1) river archipelago & 2) waterfalls in Southeast Asia. The waterfalls are called "Khone Phapheng" (Mekong Falls). #wintergetaway

#happynewyear
Four thousand US islands are not suitable for people who love to be lively. It is a person who likes to be quiet. There is nothing better than a toasting and pleasing happier with the sunset. A small boat is on the river, and the sunset is Clothing, river water for the bed, and clothing into a dream, a harmonious and quiet, it is a late return to the fisherman, is the home of life, but also the grassland in the secret island. What is missing from your trip? Maybe just leaving the quiet and self-reflection after the excitement, maybe just a sentence, "What do I need?"

It turns out that Laos also has its own Angkor Wat
🇱🇦Laos-Pakse-Wat Phou
It's like stepping into an ancient mystical realm🌲🌳
The World Heritage Site's evaluation of Wat Phou: "A masterpiece of human culture preserved for over 1,000 years.
It perfectly expresses the cultural concept of the unity of heaven and man in ancient Indian civilization, and it epitomizes the development of Lao culture from the 5th to the 15th century, represented by the Khmer Empire."
This was originally a Hindu temple, which later incorporated elements of Buddhism. Wat Phou, meaning "stone temple" in Lao, is compared by the Lao people to Cambodia's Angkor Wat, and is regarded as one of the two great cultural treasures.
The traditional Lao festival, Wat Phou Festival, is related to this temple. Today, Wat Phou is listed as a World Heritage Site, attracting many people from around the world to visit.
