When I stand in front of the Auschwitz unloading platform, what comes to mind are not the numbers in history books, but the countless families sent to their deaths. This was once the boundary between life and death, and once on this track, most people could never return. I close my eyes and try to imagine—if I were standing here in the 1940s, the train packed with innocent mothers and children, cries echoing, worry and fear filling the air. And when I imagine the people on the train as my own children, an unbearable despair instantly overwhelms me, and tears flow uncontrollably. Although this history has passed, its pain should not be forgotten. Everyone has heard of the horrors that happened during the second World War. In Europe, Poland was hit hardest and millions of Jewish people died, many of them here at Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp. Located near the beautiful town of Krakow, you can easily visit this site on a day trip, either with your own transport or on one of the many tours. You can visit some of the barracks to see the poor conditions in which the people lived. There are also many exhibitions showing some pictures as well as items from that time. But easily the most important part are the gas chambers where the people were put to death. You can't help but being moved. This historical site is a must visit. Not only is it affordable visiting this site is very moving and a massive part of history. The tour guides speak many language and we found them to be very informative. There are two camps included in this tour with a free shuttle bus provided by the museum. The journey from krakow to auschwitz on the train is roughly 1.5 hrs. There are many places to stay in krakow, we managed to find a hotel for the night for only £20. We also found taxis to be extremely cheap and managed to get a taxi from krakow airport to the city centre for only £5 on Uber!

During World War II Germany built concentration camps across Europe, the largest of which was the Auschwitz concentration camp in Poland, where nearly 1.1 million people were buried. Concentration camps were located with railroads that could send large numbers of Jews in, screened out useful as laborers. The Polish government's conversion of the concentration camp into a national museum has inspired the world to reflect. Even though I had read a lot of information before going but to see in person the Jewish hair shoes glasses luggage at the time was feeling very shocking looking at the high voltage wire fence to imagine how desperate he wanted to be. From there, it's about an hour by train to Oświęcim Station. From there, it's about a 20-minute walk away. If you are considering accessing it from Warsaw, please note that it will take quite a long time.

This’s the largest concentration camp by Nazis and it’s very worth going if you want to know about the holocaust history and reflect on the situation in the world right now.
