For those who are into hardcore hiking, this trail is quite challenging due to its steep path. The distance to the summit is 6.9 km (elevation 1500 m). You can either do a day hike or stay in a hut. If you plan to do a day hike, it's recommended to start before 8:00 AM as the total hiking time is around 7-8 hours. Despite the steep path, the views along the way are stunning. It's a really cute Shirakawa-go village. It's a 3-hour drive from Nagoya, but it's worth the trip. It's a small town, but it has uniquely shaped houses. It's also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It's most famous for its snowy winter scenery, but the green summer is also beautiful. Since it's far, I usually take a day tour, but I wanted to take my time, so I took a direct public transportation bus.
