The Mongolian sky was unusually blue and clear, and the white clouds floated slowly, moving as if they were alive. Looking only at the sky and the grassland in the quiet nature, I felt peace in my heart!!🙃🙂 I took out the small lunch box I had prepared and had a simple lunch, slowly enjoying this moment that nature gave me. The warm sunlight enveloped my whole body, giving me just the right amount of warmth, and the smell of grass and soil from the grassland spread gently on the wind. Sometimes, when the wind passed by, the small rustling sound of the grass bumping into each other sounded like music from nature~👍 After walking a little further, I saw horses that the nomads had let out running freely. The sight of these animals living resiliently even in the harsh wind was truly impressive, and it made me think again about what it means to live in nature. I just watched from afar and engraved that moment in my heart.🏕 As the sun gradually rose to the middle of the sky, the grassland became even more vibrant. I could see a few gers (traditional tents of nomads) in the distance, and a nomad family was taking care of their livestock. I wanted to get closer and take a closer look at their lives, but I didn’t want to disturb nature and their daily lives, so I decided to just quietly admire them from afar. I walked around the grassland like this for a day, enjoying the silence there and feeling the peace that nature gives with my whole body. This time, when I could forget about my smartphone and watch and focus solely on nature, was the most special moment for me. [Trip Moment Delivery.🗞️] Let's go to Yolyn Am Museum on this trip!!✈️ 🛄ㅣYolyn Am Museum🏛 We visited Yolyn Am Valley, one of Mongolia's representative natural attractions, and the small Yolyn Am Museum located there. This place, where you can see Mongolia's history and nature at a glance, is small in size but full of very interesting exhibits!! Yolyn Am Museum is a small natural history museum located near the entrance to Gobi Gurvansaikhan National Park. Here, you can see various exhibits on the national park's ecosystem, wild animals, and even dinosaur fossils. The museum is a small one-story building, but it is very helpful in understanding Mongolia's nature and history~👍 When you enter the museum, you will first see a space where Mongolia's representative wild animal specimens are displayed. Inside the glass case, stuffed animals such as ibex (wild goat), argali (wild sheep), marmot, and pika that live in this area were displayed, and the ecology and characteristics of each animal were explained. In particular, the stuffed Lammergeier, which is considered sacred in Mongolia, was impressive!! In addition, there is a dinosaur fossil exhibition hall on one side of the museum. The Gobi Desert is famous for being a place where many dinosaur fossils were discovered in the past, and here, you can see fossils such as the skull fossil of Protoceratops and claw fossil of Velociraptor. It was even more interesting because the fossils were actually discovered in this area, and I realized once again that Mongolia is an important place for dinosaur research~🦕 As soon as I entered the museum, the interior had a somewhat simple atmosphere, but it had a unique charm that allowed me to feel the nature of Mongolia. The staff kindly explained the exhibits, and since it was in Mongolian, I listened to the English explanations while viewing them!!👏 The first thing that caught my eye was the stuffed ibex and argali. I had actually seen the ibex from afar while hiking, so it was even more interesting. Even though it was a stuffed animal, it felt alive, and it was even more fascinating to hear the explanation of how they lived in this harsh environment~😃 In the dinosaur fossil exhibition area, I saw children happily taking pictures. I also observed the dinosaur claw fossil up close, and the sharp claws of the Velociraptor were truly overwhelming. The museum was not large, but it was impressive that it contained various nature and history of Mongolia in a small scale. When I came out of the museum, the surrounding scenery was so beautiful. I couldn't help but think that I wanted to ride it again. For the second challenge, I lowered my posture a little more boldly and enjoyed the speed. Other tourists around me were also screaming and having fun, and after everyone came down, they couldn't stop laughing. My Journey to Ömnögovi This past week, I took a trip to Ömnögovi, Mongolia’s southernmost province and home to the vast Gobi Desert. It was an unforgettable adventure filled with breathtaking landscapes, cultural experiences, and moments of reflection. Day 1: Arrival in Dalanzadgad I started my journey with a short flight from Ulaanbaatar to Dalanzadgad, the provincial capital of Ömnögovi. The view from the plane was incredible—endless steppe gradually giving way to the arid beauty of the desert. After landing, I checked into a small guesthouse and spent the day exploring the town. I visited the local museum, which gave me an excellent overview of the region’s history and wildlife, setting the tone for what lay ahead. Day 2: Yolyn Am (Eagle Valley) The next morning, I headed to Yolyn Am in the Gurvan Saikhan Mountains. The drive was bumpy but rewarding as the scenery changed dramatically. As I walked through the gorge, I was amazed by how cool and lush it felt, a stark contrast to the surrounding desert. I even spotted a few ibex climbing the rocky cliffs. The peacefulness of the valley was a welcome retreat, and I spent hours hiking and taking in the unique landscape. Day 3: Khongoryn Els (Singing Sand Dunes) The third day was all about the famous Khongoryn Els. After a long drive west of Dalanzadgad, I finally saw the dunes rising in the distance. They were massive, and climbing to the top was no easy feat, but the view was worth every step. Standing there, surrounded by endless sand, I felt incredibly small yet connected to something vast and timeless. The wind created a soft humming sound, giving the dunes their “singing” name. Later, I rode a camel with a local herder, learning more about their nomadic lifestyle. Day 4: Bayanzag (Flaming Cliffs) Bayanzag was next on my list. This site, known for its deep red sandstone cliffs and dinosaur fossils, was surreal. Walking through the area, I imagined what it must have been like for the paleontologists who first unearthed dinosaur eggs here. The cliffs truly lived up to their name at sunset, glowing fiery red as the sun dipped below the horizon. It was a magical moment that I’ll never forget. Day 5: Return to Ulaanbaatar On my final day, I made the journey back to Ulaanbaatar. As the plane took off from Dalanzadgad, I looked out at the desert one last time. I couldn’t help but feel grateful for the experience—the vastness of the Gobi Desert, the kindness of the people I met, and the memories I made along the way.
