Exploring Ninh Binh in Vietnam 🇻🇳
Exploring Ninh Binh by bicycle was a delightful adventure. Pedaling through the scenic countryside, I marveled at the stunning karst landscapes and lush green rice paddies stretching out in every direction. The gentle breeze and the sound of birds made the ride incredibly refreshing. I cycled past serene temples, traditional villages, and tranquil waterways, each turn offering new, picturesque views. Stopping at local markets and interacting with friendly villagers added a cultural touch to the journey. The flexibility of biking allowed me to take my time, fully immersing myself in the natural beauty and charm of Ninh Binh.

Ninh binh is a hidden gem near Hanoi city known as the Halong Bay on land! Just 2 hours away. Explore the area for 2-3 nights instead of just doing a day tour or you will miss out on so much! Spend 1 night at this hidden gem at the walking street in Ninh Binh city.
You can find food, massage, hair wash and shopping here and the vibes get better later in the night. In the middle of the lake is a few temples great for phototaking. Row boats with lantern are also up for rent if you're up for a romantic experience .

Serene Hikes and Tranquil Nights: Ninh Binh
🚌 Getting There: A 2-hour bus ride from Hanoi brought me to Ninh Binh.

Hoa Lu Ancient Town - Ninh Binh
Getting There - Located on the campus of Ky Lan Mountain, Hoa Lu Ancient Town was built based on the idea of the traditional culture of Dai Viet in the 10th century. It can be said that Hoa Lu Ancient Town was born to recreate show and restore all the beauty of the architecture as well as the culture of that time. Coming to this place, you will be delighted to have fun, learn and visit the traditional craft villages of our country such as Dong Ho painting village, Bodhisattva pottery village, Y Yen lacquer ... extremely interesting.
Attractions - The space in Hoa Lu Old Town is extremely large, divided into two areas, where the product is introduced and the food court. The scenery here is designed based on the culture and traditions of our country in the 10th century, so it is very ancient and majestic. The set of photos about Hoa Lu Ancient Town by Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc posted on Check in Vietnam group partly depicts the beautiful and unique beauty of this place. Exploring Ninh Binh in 24H with the destination of Hoa Lu Ancient Town will definitely leave you with many memorable memories!
Hotels - Hoa Lu Hotel
Food & Restaurants - Guests will enjoy traditional, delicious and flavorful dishes. One of them must be mentioned: honey cake, glutinous rice cake, chung cake, gai cake, day cake, rice cake... these are all specialties of "our ancestors" from ancient times, many young people, especially in Big cities are not sure to enjoy the taste of these dishes.

Breathtaking tour through grottoes and caves
This natural caves and grottoes complex were awarded UNESCO heritage award. We booked a boat ride through the caves, temples and grottoes. The boat is using maneuvered manually without any assisted motor to ensure the nature is not disturbed by human intervention. The boat lady really amazed us by her riding skill (we were a party of 6 people). She also shared with us the story of this complex, the caves and the temples nearby. Along the way, you can stop at these places for a leg stretch and mesmerize the beauty of nature. It’s so stunning that these limestone caves were formed years ago and still remained majestic. Definitely will come back to try another route to explore this area more. Do tip the boat guide as they earn very little from the ticket sale by the company who manages this complex.

Unspoiled gorgeous paradise
Ninh Binh is a town to the southeast of Hanoi that serves as a base for travellers looking to explore the area. The state is also known as Ninh Binh, with Ninh Binh town serving as the capital. As a result, when people refer to this part of Vietnam, they are usually referring to the entire Ninh Binh district, which includes several towns, villages, and major tourist attractions.
There aren't many attractions in Ninh Binh proper, but it's a terrific place to visit if you want to get out and about in some of Vietnam's most beautiful and unspoiled areas. The town is mainly used as a jumping off point for Tam Coc, Van Long, and Hoa Lu, and while it is not as well known as other areas in the country, its rocky limestone scenery makes it an excellent spot for anyone interested in nature.

Ninh Binh in Northern #vietnam
Beautiful Ninh Binh might less known compared to Halong Bay but it is worth a visit.
Travelers can take a slow and scenic boat ride through a river with limestone hills at the side and paddle through several underwater caves. The entire journey back and forth this timeless place takes a 1-2 hours and the scenery is awesome throughout.
Best to get there via a tour as it takes you to many more scenic places along the way including visits to historical places, padi fields and hike up a hill.

In some places, the rain turned into a disaster scene, and in this place of Vietnam, after a rain, even the temples became the same as the wonderland.
There is a quiet city about two hours from Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. Its name is Ning Ping, where you can not only see the old buildings of the past, but also the landscapes like a fairyland. After riding the boat, you can see the Bidong Temple in about ten minutes by bicycle. After the rain, the whole temple is on the water and it is very Zen.
Built in the 10th century and the Li Dynasty, Bidong and the temples on the mountain were built along the caves. They are divided into upper, middle and lower floors. The whole temple is made of wood piles, antique, very special and elegant. The temple overlooks the fields and the mountains.
Bich Dong Pagoda is located on the outskirts of Ninh Binh, about 11 km from the city.
Life in Ninh Binh City: A Gateway to Nature and Tradition
#vietnamtrip Here’s a 300-word review of life in Ninh Binh City:
Life in Ninh Binh City: A Gateway to Nature and Tradition
Nestled in northern Vietnam, Ninh Binh City offers a unique blend of small-town charm and stunning natural beauty. Though often overshadowed by its famous surroundings, such as the Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex and Tam Coc, the city itself serves as a tranquil and authentic base for both locals and travelers.
Life in Ninh Binh is unhurried and deeply rooted in tradition. The city is small but vibrant, with bustling local markets and quiet streets where bicycles and motorbikes dominate. Residents often gather at simple street-side cafés, sipping on strong Vietnamese coffee or enjoying bowls of steaming pho. The community spirit is strong, with locals greeting each other warmly and embracing a lifestyle that revolves around family and seasonal celebrations.
The surrounding countryside plays a significant role in daily life. Just outside the city, endless rice paddies stretch towards limestone karsts, creating a breathtaking backdrop that feels worlds away from Vietnam’s larger urban centers. Many residents engage in farming, fishing, or tourism-related activities. The growth of eco-tourism in recent years has provided new opportunities for locals while maintaining respect for the region’s cultural and environmental heritage.
Ninh Binh’s spiritual significance is evident in its many temples and pagodas, such as the Bai Dinh Temple, the largest in Vietnam. These sites attract pilgrims and visitors, fostering a deep sense of reverence and pride among the locals.
While modern conveniences are slowly integrating into daily life, Ninh Binh retains its authentic charm. For those seeking a slower pace of life, surrounded by natural beauty and rich cultural traditions, Ninh Binh City offers an inspiring example of harmony between tradition and progress.
Let me know if this works for you or if you’d like changes!

Xuejing Valley
Xuejing Valley in Huamin has an ancient and romantic charm, reminiscent of the serene symphony of nature in the Ningping tourist area. However, many people are still confused by its name.
Many people confuse Xuejing Valley with other places of the same name. A staff member of Xuejing Valley explained that this place used to be an execution ground during the imperial rule, later transformed into a place of worship by a monk, and it was where Queen Yang Wenya practiced until the end of her life. Because it is a quiet place for cultivation, completely isolated from the world and extremely peaceful, the name Xuejing (meaning 'Snowy Silence') is more accurate.
The scenery here is beautiful, making it a great spot for photography and creating wonderful memories. Highly recommended.

Ninh Binh: Nature's Masterpiece Awaits
Ninh Binh is a mesmerizing town known locally as 'Ha Long Bay on Land'. High recommended if you are taking a trip to Hanoi.
Getting There - Recommend hiring a driver or booking a day tour to get there from Hanoi. It is about 2 hours drive.
Highlights - My favourite memory was kayaking along the stunning waters in Trang An. If you go in the right season, you can see the beautiful golden colour of the paddy fields in Ninh Binh. During the kayaking, you can also see interesting karst and cave formations which makes it even more exciting.
Another fun part is cycling through the local village and paddy fields. This allows you to admire the beautiful country side view and serenity. You can even spot cute monkeys there.
Of course, if you don't want to kayak, you can take a local boat along the river too.
Food & Restaurants - There are many delicious Vietnamese local cuisine that you can enjoy in the area including fresh spring rolls.
