The Blue Mountains located about a 2 hour drive away from Sydney is famous for its magnificent landscape of sandstone ridges, charming mountain towns and the iconic tourist attraction - Scenic World. Visit the Three Sisters, which is the area’s most famous rock formation. You can get the best view of this rock formation from Echo Point Lookout. There are many great walks that you can take from Echo Point to enjoy a different view of the Three Sisters. There’s are many shops and cozy cafes around the area to explore. I stopped by one of the cafes for a cup of warm mulled wine and it was delicious, especially in the cold winter. For the best views of the mountains, why not take a cable car ride to Scenic World. The drive in is part of the fun, gravel roads, open plains, and wild brumbies if you’re lucky. Once you get there, it’s all about the clear creek, limestone cliffs, and wide open space. The campground is basic but lovely, with grassy areas, drop toilets, and fire pits. No phone signal, which honestly makes it even better. The Clarke Gorge and Nichols Gorge walks are both awesome. You’re literally walking through the creek, climbing over rocks, squeezing past cliffs, and even ducking into a few small caves. The water is freezing, but it feels good once you commit. Good shoes are a must, and maybe a dry bag for your stuff. No shops, fuel, or water nearby, so stock up before you head in. It’s quiet, beautiful, and feels way off the grid in the best way. If you’re up for some barefoot creek adventures and big sky camping, this place totally delivers.

It’s tucked away in Kosciuszko National Park and feels like a proper little adventure. We checked out the Jersey Cave, super colourful formations and crazy details everywhere. You can do self-guided or join a tour depending on the cave and your vibe. After the caves, we hiked down to the thermal pool. The walk is steep but not too long, and the pool itself is warm, clean, and surrounded by bushland. It was the perfect way to chill out after all the exploring. Bring swimmers and a towel if you’re keen for a dip. There are picnic areas and toilets around, plus some shorter bush tracks if you want to stretch your legs more. The drive in is beautiful, winding through mountains and valleys. If you're in the Snowy Mountains area and want a mix of chill and adventure, Yarrangobilly is totally worth the detour.

#holidayitinerary Wollomombi Falls is seriously impressive, one of the tallest waterfalls in Australia and it definitely looks the part. It’s in Oxley Wild Rivers National Park and really easy to get to, just a short drive from Armidale. The falls are right near the car park, so you don’t even have to hike far for that first wow moment. There’s a short walking track that takes you to a couple of lookouts over the gorge and the falls. We also did the longer trail along the rim, which gives you even more wild views. It’s not super difficult but it does get a bit rocky and exposed, so bring water and sun protection. The gorge itself is huge and rugged, with cliffs dropping way down into the valley. You might even spot a wedge-tailed eagle cruising around. Facilities are basic, just a picnic area and toilets, so pack what you need. If you're road tripping through the New England region, this stop is an absolute winner.

The place feels like another planet, with those weird eroded formations called the Walls of China stretching out like something from a dream. We went late afternoon and the lighting was unreal, super dramatic shadows everywhere. There’s something kind of magical and eerie about walking through a place that’s been around for tens of thousands of years. The park’s also famous for the Mungo Lady and Mungo Man, some of the oldest human remains ever found in Australia. You can’t explore every part on your own, so it’s worth booking a guided tour for the cultural stuff. Keep water and snacks handy because the area is remote and super dry. It’s not your typical touristy spot, and that’s what makes it feel special. Just pure outback vibes, history, and a whole lot of silence. Totally recommend it for a chill and fascinating escape.
