Netherlands trip
🇳🇱 #holland|Summary of the free travel itinerary
We only stayed in the Netherlands for a short 2+1 days. Can I not explain why it is 2+1 days? You will understand after watching it ~ Is the Netherlands fun? 🤔 We are in the flower season and everything is expensive 😅 (oddly enough, the flowers haven’t fully bloomed yet). In fact, apart from being a little expensive, everything else about the Netherlands is pretty good! The most important thing is that the air tickets to Amsterdam, the Netherlands, are relatively cheap in Europe, so as a starting point city for a European trip, Amsterdam is really good.
✏️【Itinerary】
*When we went there, it was the end of March, the temperature was still quite low, and although the Keukenhof Park had already opened, the flowers were not yet "in full bloom". The whole of Amsterdam is bare. For people who like taking photos, it is a flaw no matter how you look at it 💔 *
🎈 Day 1⃣: (Incredibly, we didn’t visit any paid attractions)
Arrived at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport at noon, spent some time at the airport to research the easiest and cheapest route to the hotel.
🏨 Amsterdam Teleport Hotel: We were just in time to check in when we arrived at the hotel. After a short rest and getting ready, we set off!
🎡 Amsterdam City Center: After getting off at Amsterdam Centraal train station, the Basilica of St. Nicholas is right outside. It is magnificent, but for some reason we didn’t go in to visit it. Instead, we strolled along the intertwining canals and took photos. In cold weather, it is pleasant to walk aimlessly.
💡 Red Light District: Before I knew it, I had walked into the red light district. Maybe it was still early, so there weren't many red light girls standing behind the glass windows. There are so many interesting shops in the whole area! We went into almost every one of them to have a look. I had originally planned to visit the Museum of Prostitution, but as I walked along I forgot about it. I had this dazed problem right after I got off the plane!
🎈 Day 2⃣:
🚗 In the morning, I went to the car rental company to pick up the car and started a short self-driving trip.
🎡 Zaanse Schans Windmill Village: It is near the center of Amsterdam and can be reached in about half an hour by car. The whole area is like a museum. In addition to Dutch windmills, you can also see clog factories, chocolate shops, cheese factories, etc. If you look carefully, it may take you most of the day! But there are really a lot of tourists, so you really need to be patient if you want to take pictures.
🌷 Giethoorn: It takes about 1.5 hours to drive from the windmill village to Giethoorn. There is nowhere to stop along the way (and no special scenery to stop for), except for a plain full of wind turbines. They are lined up in a row and look very nice. There is nothing to see in Giethoorn in March. There are no flowers, few leaves, and even few tourists. Friends who like the romantic Giethoorn should not choose the wrong season, but if you are like us and don’t like to squeeze with others, then this season is also a good time.
🎈 Day 3⃣: (This is the end of the journey, we went to other countries in the middle)
*After we came back, we stayed at citizenM Hotel next to the airport. It was so comfortable that we didn’t want to leave the room*
🌷 Keukenhof: There is a direct bus outside the airport to Keukenhof Park. The Tulip Park at the end of March was actually quite disappointing, as the flowers hadn’t even bloomed yet! The exhibition hall is the only place in the entire park where you can see blooming tulips. How depressing! However, the day we went to Keukenhof happened to be a weekend, so there were many traditional cultural performances, cultural exhibitions, etc. in the park, which made the ticket price worthwhile.
*We just realized now that Alkmaar Cheese Market actually started at the end of March. We thought it started in April and missed it 😭. Friends who are interested can check it out online in advance*
🍩 Albert CUYP Market: This market is a must-go! So many things to eat, see and buy! Especially the fried seafood stall ~ I’m really drooling just thinking about it 🤤. The market is very large, so you can spend more time shopping. And you must try the most famous stroopwafel here 🤤
