UNESCO Hidden Christian Sites in Nagasaki
The Oura Church in Nagasaki City is one of the 12 sites related to the history of Christianity in Japan. The group of churches and Christian sites were recognized as a World Heritage Site in 2018.
This particular church is located in the southern part of Nagasaki City, while some of the other in the list are located in other parts of the Nagasaki Prefecture. To get to the Oura Church, it is possible to walk 15-20 min from city center. The area is in fact part of the Foreign Settlement area of Nagasaki in the 19th century. Therefore you can also visit Glover Garden and Chinese Confucius Shrine nearby.
The Church was built by French missionaries in 1864 and is the oldest church in Japan. It was also designated as a National treasure in 1933 by the Japanese Government.
Entrance fee is ¥1000 for adult and 400 for high school students which I thought was a little expensive. Aside the main church, you can also visit the Christian Museum next to it. It will take about 30 -45 minutes to visit the entire premise.

Japan’s 3 best night view at Mount Inasa
Mount Inasa indeed captures the best view of Nagasaki City from above. It is just a short 10 minutes drive up the curvy road in the western part of the city.
There are several ways to reach the observatory, including ropeway (1250 yen round trip), bus and of course by car . If you drive, parking spaces are available at the summit.
Once at the top, go up to the rooftop of the observatory building for a 360 degrees view. The west side faces the ocean and is absolutely stunning at sunset. The other side overlooks Nagasaki City on the two sides of the Uragami River.
The observatory building also has a couple of fast food restaurants for light snacks and drinks.
This is definitely a must go place in Nagasaki!

Candeo Hotel Nagasaki Shinchi Chinatown
This is a very new hotel in Nagasaki and just across the street from Chinatown and the main shopping area. The location is excellent and there are plenty of restaurants and shops nearby.
The room is small but sufficient for a Queen size bed. I love the long sofa by the window which is great for sitting and putting out the luggages. the SkySpa is on the top floor- 12th floor. It is free for hotel guests to use. The hotel has two affiliated parking- both are literally just next to the hotel. One cost 1200 yen from 12-12. Park the car first and get the 1200yen ticket from the reception desk . Then pay directly at the parking lot. There are also many small parking lots nearby and only cost 500-700 yen overnight (ie 7 pm - 8am). #urbanexplorer #hotelinjapan #hotels #Nagasaki

Spectacles Bridge in Nagasaki
In Nagasaki city centre, there is a well known bridge called Meganebashi, or Spectacles Bridge built over Nakashima River. The bridge is named this way, because it has two arches under it, and the reflections of both arches in the water make it appear to have a pair of round framed spectacles. Along the canal, there are also lush trees that also change colour with the seasons, and you may spot a tree or two either in yellow, orange or red during the autumn season. Occasionally, there may be passers-by that walk along the stone pathway created in the waterway for a stroll, and to get closer to the “pair of spectacles”. Near the canal, there are shops lining both sides of the canal, and Chinatown shopping area for locals and tourists to shop and dine.

Hoping for peace at Nagasaki Peace Park
As many of us will know, Hiroshima and Nagasaki had been bombed when an atomic bomb was dropped onto each city during World War II, leading to devastating consequences. In memory of this historic event and the lives lost, Nagasaki Peace Park was built. This is also a must go place for locals, especially for students, as evident from the many school trips that are organised to this place. For tour groups who visit Nagasaki, this will also be one of the places of attraction to visit.
There is a museum that depict the timeline of events in World War II and the dropping of the atomic bomb which ended the war. There is also a life size model of how the atomic bomb looks like on the inside, and the actual size of the bombs. For the outdoor park, there is the Peace Statue representing the hope for peace, and other monuments and memorials are also set up in memory of the victims who suffered and died from the bombing.
This place is a sombre reminder that peace, stability and harmony should not be taken for granted, and everyone plays an important role in maintaining peace and harmony among ourselves.

With thousands of lights from buildings and boats shimmering below, you’ll see why Mt. Inasa is said to possess a ‘10 million dollar view’.
We were a bit sceptical of its claims as one of the 3 great nightime city views but it is amazing. Sunset is best time but there are long queues then, so allow extra time if you want to capture the sun setting. Entrance is free at the observatory. Plenty of people at night but the platform is quite spacious. Highly recommend if your in Nagasaki. You don't realise how big Nagasaki is until you come up here.

Nagasaki Peace Park is a park located in Nagasaki, Japan, commemorating the atomic bombing of the city during World War II. This is a nice park area that was quiet when I was there and I felt more like I was there than in Hiroshima.
It is important to get the feel there imagining the sorrow, pain, ... the bomb caused. It is vital to realize the ground level elevation and its reason.
A must visit location when in Nagasaki as the Nagasaki Bomb Epicenter sits in a lovely park adjacent to the main Peace Park and only a short distance to the Nagasaki Peace Park Museum.

Nagasaki is located in Kitakyushu, Japan, and is a famous port and tourist city.
There are three places around the mountain, a great location facing the sea and a unique view of the mountains and seas. You can enjoy the dreamy night scene on Inasayama, which also makes Nagasaki win the latest "Japan III". The big night view and the "three big night scenes of the world" double title.
This time I came here and went to the restaurant on the Observatory to enjoy dinner and enjoy the night view... definitely one of the most romantic dinners in my heart.
What kind of Chinese cuisine can't be found in China? There is a mixture of shredded noodles
Japanese ramen noodles in Japan. There is a mixture of shredded pork, vegetables and seafood. It originated and was famous in Nagasaki. It first appeared in the Meiji period. It is said to be an improved dish of the Four Seas Building in Fujian Restaurant (still in operation today). The name of this kind of face is also said to mean eaten in Fujian.
I don't know if you still remember the Chinese chef's home, is he the episode of the special chef exam? The title is face. The alkali stone that the small family carried with was forgotten by the female host and had to ride back to take the stone. One of the most important features of this Chinese assorted noodle in Nagasaki is that it must use an alkaline water surface. Second, the side dish is the fried noodles.
In addition to noodle soup, there is also a kind of crispy noodles in Nagasaki's signature Chinese cuisine called Dish, which is like the two sides of Shanghai. The soul of this bowl is the white soup, the pork bones, chicken bones and seafood that are slowly stewed for a few hours. Just need a bite to understand why the Japanese who come to Nagasaki have to line up to eat a bowl. The store with the highest score on
tabelog is located in Zhonghua Street [Jiangshan Building], and Figure 9 is the birthplace of Chinese cuisine, which affects Japan [Sihai Building]. An average of 1,500 yen / a bowl, there will be a small amount of shark fin.
Kanazawa cuisine | Japan's Haizhuang
Japan has a lot of izakayas on the street, and the three or five Japanese people meet in the wine.
We have chosen one, seafood, barbecue, and a variety of staple foods, which are quite complete.
Seafood platter is generally fresh, there are many types, all kinds of fish sashimi, snails, shellfish, sweet shrimp, sea urchin. Because I don't eat fresh, but I personally think that sea urchin is not as good as I eat in the black door market in Osaka.
Throat blackfish has not been eaten before, it is also the characteristics of Kanazawa, not bad, the meat is full of tenderness.
Beef is better than beef tongue. The so-called Sendai beef tongue is completely different from the local one in Sendai.
Teppanyaki chicken is a bit old, but the sauce is very good, it is a black pepper sauce with a bit of grapefruit.
yellow mustard shrimp balls are also very recommended, delicious.
When I went out for a trip, I rarely ate lunch at the hotel, but Nagasakis noon package at Monterey was intended to kill anyone? ...
1680 yen set menu, including salad, chef's pasta, chicken dishes, ice cream, coffee, bread or renewable... Great noon to the violent, the problem is that the taste is still very good!
Environment is also very good, the service is very authentic, that is the kind of a British butler station, ask you "May I help you", every dish is finished to introduce what is inside ...
this Lunch is really good value! ( )
Nagasaki Peace Park, the time here is quiet
Japan Hiroshima and Nagasaki, two cities that were once destroyed by the US atomic bomb. Today, Hiroshima and Nagasaki have a Peace Park. The first thing I saw at the entrance to the park was the symbolic Peace of Peace in the Peace Park, a male peace god. On the right hand, the index finger is pointing to the sky, indicating that the atomic bomb has fallen. The right hand is flat and the palm is facing down, wishing the world Antai. World Peace.
The peaceful spring on the side of the park means giving a glass of water to the tragic souls killed in the disaster and praying for their blessings. At the same time, in order to pray for a worldly peace. The ever-changing fountain takes the shape of a dove of peace and flies, and at the same time has the shape of a crane, symbolizing the Nagasaki Port, which is known as the crane port. It is said that many people died at the time because there was no water. There was a pool under the sculpture.
There are various sculptures everywhere in the park, which are presented by governments to express their hope for peace and blessings for world peace. There are many in Europe, many in Asia and Africa, including a "peace" sculpture given by China. It is said that there is also the same paragraph in Fuxingmen, Beijing. On both sides of the statue, there is a thousand paper crane tower. There are thousands of paper cranes, water and prayers. There is an old legend in Japan. If someone folds a thousand paper cranes, the crane will fulfill his wish, like a long life, or recover from a serious illness. In Asia, people with a thousand paper cranes can think of a good wish, so the paper crane has become a special occasion gift.
To Nagasaki, I always remembered that "Nagasaki is raining today." Nagasaki is a seaport city. The maritime climate caused time and rain. We even drenched a sun rain in Nagasaki. After a few minutes, it turned fine.

The Unique Megane Bridge!
My visit to Megane Bridge in Nagasaki was so cool! The bridge, built over 400 years ago, is shaped like a pair of glasses when you see its reflection in the water. That’s how it got its fun nickname, “Spectacles Bridge”!
I loved the beautiful, curved stone design and how strong and well-built it looked even after so many centuries. Walking across the bridge felt like stepping into history, imagining the people who crossed it long ago.
It was so fun to snap pictures and try to capture the perfect “glasses” reflection. Megane Bridge is a must-see—full of charm, history, and great photo!

The Suwa Shrine Nagasaki Kunchi Festival!
Nagasaki Kunchi is the autumn festival of Suwa Shrine, the guardian deity of Nagasaki. It is held for three days starting from October 7th every year, involving the entire town. The festival is said to have begun in 1634 when two courtesans dedicated a Noh dance called 'Komai' in front of Suwa Shrine. The festival features many performances with exotic themes, and in 1979, it was designated as an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property by the national government. The Nagasaki Traditional Performing Arts Promotion Association was established and operates with the aim of promoting the smooth operation and development of 'Nagasaki Kunchi,' contributing to the economic development and tourism promotion of Nagasaki City, and preserving and nurturing the festival's performances.
Nagasaki Dejima
Dejima, constructed in 1636 (the 13th year of the Kan'ei era), served as Japan's only window to the West for 218 years until the Dutch trading post was closed in 1859 (the 6th year of the Ansei era). It played a significant role in Japan's modernization.
In 1600 (the 5th year of the Keichō era), a Dutch ship drifted ashore on the coast of Bungo. This event marked the beginning of interactions between Japan and the Netherlands. The ship, De Liefde, had a navigator named William Adams, who was favored by Tokugawa Ieyasu and served as a diplomatic advisor. The Dutch, informed by Adams, sent two trading ships to Japan in 1609 (the 14th year of the Keichō era) and obtained permission to trade, establishing a trading post in Hirado. Following this, the British also opened a trading post in Hirado, intensifying trade competition among Portugal, the Netherlands, Britain, China, and Japan, which was engaged in Shuinsen trade. The Shimabara Rebellion in 1637 (the 14th year of the Kan'ei era) heightened the shogunate's vigilance against the Portuguese, leading to their expulsion. Meanwhile, the Dutch gained trust by bombarding Hara Castle during the rebellion, demonstrating their loyalty to the shogunate and eventually monopolizing trade with Japan.
Nagasaki Seaside Park, Japan.
Luckily, the hotel I stayed in Nagasaki was near Nagasaki Seaside Park, so I could enjoy this famous attraction in the inner harbor area of Nagasaki Port every day.
Location: The park is adjacent to the Nagasaki Prefectural Art Museum, making it a great place for leisure, entertainment, walking, and flower viewing. My family and I jogged in the park every morning and walked in the park every night, which made us feel great. 😀 The park is divided into three parts: the Earth Plaza, the Water Garden, and the Waterside Walkway. We didn't miss any of them because each has its own beauty.
Special attractions: The park has a rich natural ecology and special vegetation, which, together with the green waters, form a beautiful landscape. Among them, the "Water Garden" uses naturally flowing mountain water to create a fountain landscape, which is very suitable for children to play. The park has a venue for exchange activities and has won the Gold Award in the Architecture Department of the Good Design Award in Japan. I heard that the park also holds events from time to time, such as fireworks festivals and sailing festivals. Unfortunately, I didn't see any.
Opening hours: The park is open all year round, so you can visit it at any time. If you book a hotel next to it like I did, you can check in every day.
Transportation: You can take a tram or bus from Nagasaki Station to the park. It's very convenient!
I was very happy when I recalled my trip to Nagasaki. 😃
Nagasaki Megane Bridge, Japan.

Origin of the name: The Megane Bridge is named because its two arched holes look like a pair of glasses when reflected in the water.
Cultural and historical value: The Megane Bridge is a national key cultural relic in Japan and is one of the three famous bridges in Japan, along with Nihonbashi in Tokyo and Kintai Bridge in Yamaguchi. It is not only a symbol of friendship between the two countries, but also an important landmark in Nagasaki City.

Visitors can stroll on the bridge and enjoy its unique shape and historical charm. There are also pedestrian streets, Chinatown, Dejima, and other attractions nearby, making it a great place for food and shopping.

The illuminated floor creates a romantic atmosphere. On clear days, you can see not only Nagasaki city but also Unzen, Amakusa, and the Goto Islands.

Journey to Nagasaki: A Powerful Lesson in History and Hope
My trip to Nagasaki was a mix of excitement and deep reflection, especially when I visited the Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum. Nagasaki is a lively and beautiful city, but the museum gave me a chance to understand its painful history.
When I entered the museum, I felt the weight of what had happened there. The displays were powerful, with real items from the bombing on August 9, 1945. There were pictures, burned clothing, and melted glass – all reminders of the damage caused by the atomic bomb. It was both sad and eye-opening to see the impact up close.
One part that really touched me was learning about the survivors, called hibakusha. Their stories of rebuilding their lives and the city were inspiring. The museum also teaches visitors about the importance of peace and why we should work to prevent this from ever happening again.
After the museum, I went to Peace Park nearby. It’s a calm and beautiful place with statues and monuments to remember those affected. Standing there, I felt a mix of sadness for the past and hope for a peaceful future.
Visiting Nagasaki and the Atomic Bomb Museum was a meaningful experience. It taught me a lot about history, resilience, and the importance of peace. It’s a visit I will never forget.#nagasaki #peaceparknagasaki #atomicnagasaki

Nagasaki: Peace Park Wishing for World Peace
Although I have not experienced war myself, I believe it is essential for Japan to continue conveying past experiences to future generations and wishing for peace through places like Peace Park.
The atomic bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, leading to the end of the war.
Despite becoming a defeated nation, I felt grateful for being able to live in peace now as I looked at the park's monuments.
The right hand of the Peace Statue pointing upwards symbolizes the threat of the atomic bomb, while the left hand stretched out horizontally represents peace.
It was a day that made me reflect on what peace truly means through my travels.
Nostalgia.
During Japan's Edo period of isolation, Nagasaki was the only city permitted to engage in foreign trade. To this day, Nagasaki retains a rich foreign influence, inviting visitors to uncover its mysterious charm. The city boasts numerous tourist attractions, including unique offshore islands, vibrant shopping streets with an oriental flair, million-dollar night views from mountaintops, ancient shrines and hot spring resorts, and enchanting theme parks and aquariums, all contributing to Nagasaki's unique allure.
The Megane Bridge, spanning the Nakashima River, is said to be Japan's oldest stone arch bridge and is one of Nagasaki's most popular tourist spots. It is called the 'Megane Bridge' because the reflection of its two arches in the water resembles a pair of glasses.
Take a Stroll in Nagasaki—Glover Garden.
Glover Garden is centered around the Glover Residence, Ringer House, and Alt House, which are designated as important cultural properties by the state. It also includes six other Western-style houses from the Meiji period that were relocated from various parts of Nagasaki City. From within the garden, you can enjoy views of Nagasaki Port and Mount Inasa!
