The peak is called Lover Rock since it is a pair of rock columns connected at the bottom but separated on top looking like two lovers embracing each other.
Look at that wood stairs that bring you to the top of the granite block…from there you are at the highest point and the 360 degree view is simply WoW! From there can see the Sanqing Taoist Temple immerse in the forest and the mountains range.
The first lake is called Qinghua Pool and is an original rock pit left out of the granite body.

Breath-Taking (AWAY!) Terrace @ Sanqingshan
Look at this glass terrace at 1800m above sea level!
Pretty scary walking on it!!!
Called Qian and Kun Terrace, Qian refers to the heaven and Kun refers to the earth. Made of double-layered chilled glass and can support 400km per square meter, don’t worry!
The terrace is located along the Sunshine Area of Mount Sanqing 三清山 in Yushan County (玉山县), Shangrao City, Jiangxi Province.

It is a sacred Taoist mountain in Chinese culture with the three peaks representing the Three Pure Ones who are the highest ‘gods’ in the Taoist belief.
In this area there many cultural heritage spots such as temples, tombs, halls, etc.

West Coast Area @ 1600m 5A Unesco Sanqingshan
It is a huge Scenic Area located in the west side of the Sanqing Mountain at 1600 meters above sea level.
This area goes from Liuxia Terrace to Sanqingfudi and is about 4 kilometers.
Most of the walkway is a plank road attached along the cliff (the sightseeing information board says that is the highest and longest in the world!).
They really did a great job considering that without this plank road would have been impossible to visit those mountains.
The road is very safe and is not scary, it is built by concrete with solid metal bars on the side.
This area is has many beautiful granite peaks with different shape, and here can see the sunset.
Not to mention that been at the west side of the mountain and higher than the nearby mountains the view span for kilometers and kilometers, I could even see the snow in mountains far away!
Most of the 4km road is flat spot is convenient and not require too much effort on hiking as other areas.

Buffalo’s Back Stone @ Sanqing Mountain
A celestial buffalo who was sent by the Jade Emperor down to the mortal world to eat grass enjoyed his new job so much that didn’t want to back to the heaven…so he was punished turning him into a stone…here it is the Buffalo’s Back Stone!
Hard to climb and scary when you are the top! But it is safe with strong metal bars on both sides…the view from there is simply WOW!
All of this in Longevity Garden Scenic Area (万寿园景区), the smallest area in Sanqingshan, a UNESCO Global Geopark located in Yushan County (玉山县 Yùshānxiàn), Shangrao City, Jiangxi Province.
The mountain covers a total area of 756.6 square kilometers, I spent 4 nights on top to explore every corner of it!

Duxiu Peak @ Sanqing Mountain, Shangrao
In the serene and secluded valley in Sanqingshan this granite peak column tower stands holding a verdant and vigorous pine tree in its peak.
Formed when the granite body was weathered along its vertical fractures and collapsed under gravity.
This is one of the hundreds amazing granite landscape you can meet in Sanqingshan 三清山.

Unesco Sanqing Mountain 3h from Shanghai
Amazing Mountain in Jiangxi Province!
How to get there? I did take High Sped Train from Shanghai Hongqiao to YushanNan South (玉山南) 2h:31 214 CNY - than public Bus N.6 to Yushan Bus Station 20min 2 CNY - followed by a tourist Bus to To South Gate 1h:20 15 CNY (Southern Cable Car 三清山索道外双溪站) - get the Entrance Ticket and go up by Ropeway (15min) 190 CNY
I strongly suggest to sleep at the mountain top.
I spend 4 nights at the top and I was able to explore the entire mountain areas appreciating every single spot.
The place is huge and is a must to visit it in more than a day.
At the top there are few accommodations, that they also do cook for guests.
Weekend hiking in Jiangxi
Recently we were in Shangrao, Jiangxi province for a weekend hike in Sanqingshan mountain and it was really cool! The road from Shanghai to the Hilton Sanqingshan Resort in the mountains took about 5 hours (it was a subway in Shanghai, a high-speed train and a taxi to the hotel) on the second day we began to climb the mountain at 8.30 am - 20 minutes by funicular/cableway and then until 6 pm to hike completely route. I'll tell you it was cool! We caught all types of weather - sun, fog and rain! At the top there are a lot of points of attraction and super landscapes – including Sanqing Palace (old and fully functional temple), you can eat and relax, but I recommend taking a light snack and water with you, since there are not sales points in all areas. 100% recommendation if you are a mountain fan or just want to spend the weekend in an unusual setting.

I was so excited about my itinerary that I couldn't sleep. I just came back from Mount Sanqing.
Just came back from Mount Sanqing, and I'm still feeling the aftereffects! Now I understand the value of Su Dongpo's poem. No wonder it was rated as one of the five most beautiful peak forests by National Geographic. The strange peaks and rocks, the rolling mountains, the flying waterfalls and rime, the sunrise and sea of clouds, the ancient trees and famous flowers, and the cliffs and precipices make the scenery of Mount Sanqing unforgettable.

Before departure, I made a thorough strategy, but it still wasn't enough. Let me tell you the things that need special attention during this trip.
-
🚦Transportation:
🚗 It is recommended to drive by yourself or hire a car, as changing routes midway wastes a lot of time.
🚄 Public transportation: To Yushan or Shangrao Station, you need to buy a ticket in advance on 'Xingrong Travel' for 45 yuan.
-
Travel Tips:
1️⃣ The cable car operates from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM. It is recommended to go early for the first ride, as there are fewer people, and you can take photos without queuing. Make sure to calculate the time for the descent and don't miss the last ride.
2️⃣ The prices at the roadside stations are a bit expensive. Reference prices: Coke 20 yuan/bottle, mineral water 10 yuan/bottle, fast food 48 yuan/portion.
3️⃣ Both cable cars provide luggage storage services. Small vendors and convenience stores nearby also offer storage services, with a reference price of 10 yuan.
4️⃣ For sunset, the West Coast offers a better view.
5️⃣ For sunrise, the Yutai Viewing Platform, near Yunu Kaihuai, and Sunshine Coast are recommended.
-
Based on actual experience, here are the hiking routes👟
1. Small Loop Route (3-4h)
🚡 Take the Jinsha Cable Car up the mountain (turn right) - Giant Python Coming Out of the Mountain - Goddess Hotel - Azalea Valley - Yuqing Platform - Yuhuang Peak - Fox Biting Chicken - Civet Waiting for Mouse - Goddess Plank Road - Jinsha Cable Car down the mountain
‼️ The whole journey is relatively easy. The route forms a figure '8' in a clockwise direction, allowing you to see the Giant Python Coming Out of the Mountain and the iconic Oriental Goddess.
2. Medium Loop Route (5-6h)
🚡 Take the Jinsha Cable Car up the mountain (turn right) - Giant Python Coming Out of the Mountain - Goddess Hotel - Azalea Valley - Yutai - One Line Sky - Sunrise Villa - Yuhuang Peak - Fox Biting Chicken - Civet Waiting for Mouse - Goddess Plank Road - Jinsha Cable Car down the mountain
‼️ On the basis of the small loop route, it extends a circle to the south. The clockwise route mainly consists of flat and downhill paths, making it relatively effortless. You can visit most of the representative scenic spots in one day (recommended route).
3. Large Loop Route (7-9h)
Day1️⃣: 🚠 Take the Waishuangxi Cable Car up the mountain - Sunshine Coast Scenic Area - Sanqing Blessed Land - West Coast (can watch the sunset) - Sunrise Villa
Day2️⃣: Sunrise Villa - Longevity Garden - One Line Sky - Yuqing Platform (can watch the sunrise) - Oriental Goddess - Giant Python Coming Out of the Mountain - Yuhuang Peak - Sunrise Villa - Waishuangxi Cable Car down the mountain
The large loop takes a long time, so it is recommended to spend two days. There are more uphill paths compared to the Jinsha Cable Car side. Those with good physical strength can choose this route and reasonably arrange the sunrise and sunset viewing points.
Mount Sanqing, an absolutely underestimated breathtaking secret realm!
Dear friends, this time I want to recommend a hidden gem to everyone—Mount Sanqing!🏞️ When I witnessed its true beauty with my own eyes, I was simply stunned by its magnificence!😍
🏔️Speaking of granite mountains, you might first think of Mount Huang, but Mount Sanqing is also not to be underestimated! Although both have their unique features, the bizarre rock formations of Mount Sanqing are truly breathtaking!👀 Every little scene is so exquisitely detailed that one can't help but savor it, as if it's a piece of art meticulously carved by nature.⛰️
🖼️Located in Shangrao City, Jiangxi Province, Mount Sanqing is not only a famous Taoist mountain but also a World Natural Heritage site and a Global Geopark! It is known as 'one of the most beautiful mountain peaks in China,' and those ten picturesque landscapes are simply intoxicating!🌿
🌤️In Mount Sanqing, you can experience the changing of the seasons. From overcast days to sunsets, from light rain to a sea of clouds, every moment is breathtaking!🌅 Especially the Mount Sanqing under the sunset, with the golden afterglow spreading over the mountaintops, is mesmerizing!🌄
🚡Regarding transportation and accommodation, I've also put together a little guide for you! The Jinsha cable car and the Wai Shuangxi cable car are both good choices, and Mount Sanqing is super pet-friendly, dogs can ride the cable car for free!🐶 If you choose to drive, the South Gate parking lot is super convenient, and there are mobile points discount activities too!🚗
🏨As for accommodation, there are more options at the foot of the mountain, but if you want to watch the sunrise and sunset, you have to stay on the mountain! However, the accommodation conditions on the mountain might be slightly inferior, but the feeling of being one with nature is definitely worth a try!🌅
🏕️Finally, I want to recommend everyone to try backpacking and camping on Mount Sanqing! The night on Mount Sanqing is quiet and mysterious, with the croaking of frogs, the chirping of birds, and the pitter-patter of rain, as if nature is playing a wonderful symphony for you.🎶
💖In short, Mount Sanqing is really a severely underestimated mountain! Only when you witness its true beauty with your own eyes can you truly appreciate its enchanting beauty!💖

Sanqing Mountain exudes a rich Taoist culture everywhere. 🍑When you first enter the mountain, clouds and mist swirl around the mountains, 🍊making you feel like you've entered the clouds. After a while, the sun comes out, 🍅the mist disperses, and it suddenly becomes clear. Within a day, you can experience sunny, cloudy, and rainy weather. 🍎However, the rain in the mountains is very short, 🍏it comes and goes quickly.
Tour Route A: 🍓Eastern Jinsha Cableway——Giant Python Coming Out of the Mountain——Yuhuang Peak——Sunshine Coast Scenic Area🍈——Sanqing Blessed Land Scenic Area——West Coast Scenic Area——Nanqing Garden Scenic Area——Eastern Jinsha Cableway down the mountain.🍌
Tour Route B: 🍇Southern Waishuangxi Cableway——Wanshou Garden Scenic Area——Rishang Platform——West Coast Scenic Area——Sanqing Blessed Land Scenic Area——🍐Sunshine Coast Scenic Area——Nanqing Garden Scenic Area——Southern Waishuangxi Cableway down the mountain.🥝
There is a tea house on the mountain, 🍠the view from the roof is nice. However, the food on the mountain is quite limited, with most people eating instant noodles, fried chicken legs, 🥔burgers, and other fast food. Some tourists bring self-heating rice. For a one-day trip like ours, we entered the mountain at nine in the morning and came down around four in the afternoon. 🍉The cableway seems to close at five, so if you're not staying on the mountain, remember to come down before the cableway closes.🍒 The conditions of the hotels on the mountain seem to be quite average, and after a day of climbing, 🍈we didn't want to go back up the mountain the next day as we felt quite tired. But it's still worth seeing.

Stunning Shangrao Mountain is a Vibe😍🌸
#cherryblossom2024
Compared to Jingdezhen, I love this small town recommended by the national geography more. If you go to Jingdezhen, why not go to Shangrao as well. This is the world of immortality and chivalry under Jin Yong's pen, with white walls and gray tiles depicting Chinese aesthetic paintings of iron flowers, oil lamps, autumn sun drying, and rapeseed flowers. Taking advantage of the warmth of spring and blooming flowers, going to Shangrao once will definitely satisfy all your romantic expectations. I have left Shangrao six times a year and stayed up late to organize this attack
Driving on the winding mountain road, ahead is Mount Sanqing!
Mount Sanqing is located in Shangrao City, Jiangxi Province, roughly between the city of Shangrao and Wuyuan County. The route I chose starts from Quzhou in Zhejiang Province, enters Shangrao City in Jiangxi Province, heads to Mount Sanqing from there, and then reaches Wuyuan after Mount Sanqing. This route includes the hottest scenic spots such as Mount Sanqing and Huangling, and after finishing the trip, I return to Shanghai from Huangshan City in Anhui Province. It's a small loop that doesn't backtrack, and the cities along the way all have nice scenery and unique local delicacies.
Let's talk about Mount Sanqing! It is a famous Taoist cultural mountain in our country, as well as a world-class and national natural heritage and geological park. The highest peak of Mount Sanqing is 1819.9 meters, with the mountain mainly composed of granite. The rock peaks that can only be seen when the cable car reaches the middle of the mountain look like the high and mighty immortals overlooking the world. Next, you need to choose a tour route based on your own conditions. I chose the medium loop, which takes about 5 hours in total, allows you to visit most of the attractions, and has moderate physical requirements, suitable for both the elderly and children.
The scenery of Mount Sanqing is first-rate, with most of the plants on the mountain remaining lush even in winter. The hiking route is not too strenuous, and a deep tour of the entire area can be completed in just one day. It is very suitable for a family trip. And if you want to travel to Mount Sanqing, self-driving is indeed the best choice, with equally beautiful scenery along the way. Finally, a warm tip: prepare hiking sticks and anti-slip shoe covers before going up the mountain!
Visit Mount Sanqing once in a lifetime | All the other marvelous mountains pale in comparison
After visiting the Five Great Mountains, one does not look at other mountains; after visiting Mount Huang, one does not look at the Five Great Mountains. Mount Sanqing is the most exquisite in the world.
🎈Location: At the border of Yushan County and Dexing City in Shangrao, Jiangxi
🎫Ticket: 120 yuan per person
🚠Cable car: 75 yuan for going up, 55 yuan for going down
🧗Mountaineering Strategy
Mount Sanqing has ten major scenic areas, and it is suitable to tour them over 2 days and 1 night. Be sure to research strategies before setting out to allocate your energy reasonably.
❶There are two cableways in the scenic area, one in the south and one in the east. The east cableway is the choice of most people, but I took the south cableway (actually, the east gate is a bit to the north).
❷There are two routes for touring Mount Sanqing, a large loop and a small loop, with the overall route resembling an ∞. Both cableways are on the right side (east side), so the touring routes are basically interchangeable.
❸Due to limited time, I chose the smaller loop, which is the more strenuous south cableway. The east cableway goes down the mountain first and then up, while the south cableway goes up first and then down.
❹Choose the entrance according to what you are good at. I am better at going downhill, so the beginning was particularly tiring, but the latter half was very easy. It is recommended that the elderly enter through the north cableway and visit the 'Wanshou Garden Scenic Area' before returning (if you don't want to climb, you can go up from the east and down from the south, clockwise).
❺The mountain peak (Yujing Peak) and Sanqing Temple are on the large loop, but the most famous attractions are almost all on the small loop (such as the Statue of the Eastern Goddess and Python Coming Out of the Mountain). The small loop is sufficient just to enjoy the scenery.
❻It takes 7 hours to tour everything, and just over 3 hours for the small loop (including the cableway ride), depending on the time of arrival to choose the range of the tour (the cableway stops operating at five o'clock).
❣️Warm Tips:
◆Prices for food and beverages are higher in the mountains, but you will understand why when you see the workers transporting supplies. It is recommended to bring your own food, and you can buy water along the way.
◆ Mount Sanqing does not support night climbing. If you want to watch the sunrise or the sea of clouds, it is suggested to stay overnight on the mountain. There are homestays and tent camps on the east side.
◆It is still cold on the mountain, so be sure to keep warm and wear comfortable shoes. There are squirrels along the way.
◆There are many private parking lots at the south gate, with two parking areas. The first is at the foot of the mountain, and the second is at the cableway entrance, which is more effort-saving.
◆Parking fees can be reduced by using mobile phone points, which can be quite substantial, so it's worth paying attention to.

Winter in Sanqing | Embrace the beauty of the Five Great Mountains, with the most magnificent views at Sanqing Mountain
It's so comfortable to visit Sanqing Mountain during the off-season, without the hassle of crowds. During my solitary journey, I synchronized my steps with those of the ancients, as if I were traveling through time with Su Dongpo and Xu Xiake. Here's my itinerary for your reference: Take the Jinxi Shuangxi cable car up and down, and I stayed at the Ri Shang Mountain Villa, which I do not recommend due to its poor conditions. It's a 20-minute uphill walk from the cable car to the villa, so be mindful of the weight of your luggage, and it's best not to bring a suitcase.
1️⃣ On the first afternoon, start from the mountain villa in a counterclockwise direction to Yuhuangding, then walk along the Sunshine Coast to the West Coast. The sunset is just perfect for viewing from the West Coast, absolutely beautiful!!
2️⃣ Get up early at 5 am on the second day, it takes about 1 hour to reach Yutai to watch the sunrise. The area around Yutai is also nice, and it's not necessary to squeeze onto Yutai itself. After watching, continue counterclockwise to the Nanqing Garden scenic area, take a look at the giant butterfly and the goddess, and then head back to the mountain villa to descend.

I saw the spectacular granite formation, lush valleys, layered mountains, and also experienced the ethereal and mysterious sea of clouds in the morning. You can arrange 3 different climbing routes according to your physical strength:
🧗♀️Route 1: Small circle (about 2-3 hours) Not recommended, it's a pity not to see more if you come once.

The main thing at the foot of Wai Shuangxi Cableway is Hilton
There are camping sites and guest houses on the mountain (such as Goddess Guest House)

4. Friends who don't have time to watch the sunset🌄 and sunrise🌅 can consider going up the mountain before 9 o'clock in the morning, and the misty clouds are also unique.

The snow scene of Sanqing Mountain makes people linger, as if they are in a natural ink painting. The white snow all over the mountains and plains, dressed in silver, is beautiful. The peaks, pine trees, and stone steps are all covered with white snow, like a jade dragon coiling. In the cold wind, the snowflakes are flying, giving people a fresh feeling. When it comes to famous mountains, people first think of the Five Sacred Mountains, but this Taoist mountain is no less impressive. Attraction recommendations
①West Coast Route
The main route on the West Coast is a hiking trail built on cliffs and rocks, forming the longest high mountain plank road in Mount Sanqing, with no steps for 3,600 meters, truly amazing. Along the way, there are scenic spots such as Guanyin Sending Children, Xianqiao Pier, Huaiyu Mountain Range, Yushong Forest, Huaguo Mountain, and Monkey King Treasure Pavilion.
②Route to Nanqing Garden
Walking on the high-altitude plank road along the sunny coast, one often feels as if wandering in a fairyland. It is the most stunning natural landscape of Sanqing Mountain. The highlights include the Five Elders' Pilgrimage, peculiar peaks and rocks, Wuzhi Mountain, and the appearance of giant pythons. It is recommended to spend 2 hours visiting from the Buyun Bridge to the Yuhuang Peak.
③Yujing Peak
The highest peak of Mount Sanqing is the best viewing point for watching the sunrise. If you're lucky, you can also see the sea of clouds and the rosy clouds. You can walk from Sanqing Palace to Yingyuan Mansion in nine days.
Sunshine Seashore Area @ Sanqing Mountain
Located in the east part of Sanqingshan, 3600m long, 1600m above sea level. It goes from Yuhuang Peak to Hall of Jiuriantinyuan and connect to west seashore.
It is splendid area where you can enjoy the best of Sanqingshan: picturesque granite peaks and rare plants.
The Yuhuang Peak can be reached from both the Eastern Cable Car at Jinsha – 三清山东部(金沙)索道 and the Southern Cable Car – 三清山索道外双溪站 (similar distance).
The areas around the cable car stations (mountain foot) are well developed with some hotels, shops, restaurants.
The area around the South cable car (mountain top) is more developed than the other (I did stay overnight here).
