The temple complex was one of the most impressive we’ve seen in Japan. Daiyuzan Saijo-ji is obscurely located in the mountain forests of Odawara's Hakone so it’s a really amazing peaceful place to spend the afternoon. We hiked to the temple from Daiyuzan town and it is a bit of climb but we did take a nice rewarding soak at the onsen close by after and took the onsen bus back to the town. There’s also an option to take the public bus there and back. Although it is still frequented by devout worshipers from all across Japan, it remains one of the less talked about magnificent places in Kanagawa Prefecture. #givethanks #givethanks

Minamiashigara City, Kanagawa Prefecture, is an oasis on the outskirts of the city, located not too rural but surprisingly close to the city (about an hour and a half by train to the city center). In June 2020, "Michi-no-Eki Ashigara Kintaro's Hometown" opened in Minamiashigara City. Kintaro is well known from nursery rhymes, but his hometown is actually Minamiashigara City. So, in honor of the strong and sturdy Kintaro, "Ashigara GOLDEN BOY" was born as a new character for the Minamiashigara brand, and various goods are being developed. Anyway, when it comes to roadside stations, local gourmet food comes to mind. "Furusato Gohan Shokudo" offers local menus that make full use of local ingredients, such as curry, tonkatsu, and oyakodon, using regional brand meats such as Ashigara beef, Sagami beef, Yamayuri pork, and delicious chicken. The most recommended dish is "Sagami beef" "Sea Urchin and Toro Beef Rice" The price is 3,580 yen (tax included), which is not cheap, but the melting roast beef of Sagami beef and the mellowness of the rich sea urchin create an exquisite harmony, and above all, the visual is amazing! This is located in Kanagawa Ichino Weir Harane Spring Meki Sakura The location is far from downtown Tokyo. However, these two places are probably the most crowded cherry blossoms in Kanto. There are not many people on weekdays, so this weekend should be the best time to enjoy the flowers. However, it is recommended to go there in the morning. I came here in the afternoon and the flowers here could not get sunlight. You can go here first and then go to Haruki Path. I checked in here for a whole day.

#springblossom Beautiful Strip of Cherry Blossom (Sakura) near Hakone. Due to the prolonged cold weather in Tokyo city, we weren’t able to see any cherry blossom yet despite its mid/end March so we had to venture out! This spot is an approx. 1.5 hr drive from Tokyo city and suggest to go earlier as it gets more crowded towards noon / afternoon time. The Sakura is almost towards the end now as it is white in colour and with partial withered. Have 5-6 parking spots only so might need to queue. Great spot for photos, dog walking and romantic stroll. Beware: the soil road is a bit dusty with rocks so be ready for a dirty pair of shoes after the visit.

This is a large temple in Minamiashigara City. There is also a bus so it is easily accessible. Recommended for those who like power spots.

You can drive past the souvenir shop and reach the bottom of the main reception desk. From the parking lot (250 spaces), take the gently sloping steps to the bottom of the Rurimon Gate. Climb the steep steps to enter the temple grounds, pass the main hall and Kaisan-do Hall, and head to the Tahoto Pagoda. After admiring Senshin Falls for a while, head back towards the main hall.
