[Italy] Sforzesco Castle and Milan Cathedral go hand in hand!
●Sforzesco Castle●
There is a fountain in front of the entrance, and the tower standing in front of the entrance is called the "Tower of Philate". A corridor runs around this tower in a square, and there is a courtyard inside.
There are museums and art galleries inside Sforzesco Castle.
There is also an art museum that is free to enter.
You can walk from Sforzesco Castle to Piazza del Duomo and Milan Cathedral, so I recommend visiting them together.

Milano is so relaxing in autumn 🇮🇹
#autumnbeauty
Autumn in Milan is a whole vibe! 🍂 I visited the city in late October, and it felt so peaceful compared to its usual hustle and bustle. The streets are lined with golden leaves, and the crisp air makes walking through Parco Sempione a dream. I spent hours just strolling, enjoying the changing colors and stopping at cute cafés for a warm cappuccino. The Duomo is, of course, a must-see (ticket around €15 for rooftop access), and seeing it with the fall sky as a backdrop was breathtaking.
Nearby, I visited the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, which is perfect for some window shopping and people-watching. Even though Milan is known for its fashion scene, autumn gives it a slower, more relaxed pace. Navigli is another favorite spot—walking by the canals in the evening with the autumn sunset reflecting on the water was pure magic. 🍁
The city truly transforms this season, making it feel cozy and elegant at the same time. If you’re looking for a relaxed, cultural getaway, autumn in Milan is perfection!

3 days 2 nights in Milan, Italy
We booked our flight tickets on Trip.com.
Day 1: We flew from Schiphol Airport to Milano Malpensa Airport. Upon arrival, we dropped off our luggage at our accommodation first. From the airport, you can take the Metro to the city center. We bought a 2.20 euro ticket which allows unlimited metro rides within 2 hours.
After checking in, we took the metro to Duomo to explore the city. As soon as you exit the station, you'll see the iconic Milan Cathedral, Duomo di Milano. Nearby, you can walk to Galleria Vittorio Emanuele and stroll around the area. Don't miss trying some Italian cuisine.
Day 2: We bought hop-on-hop-off tickets which took us to various important landmarks. You can get off at different spots to explore and then wait for the next bus. Make sure to visit Sforzesco Castle. Nearby, there's a beautiful park and you can also walk to see Arco delle Pace.
Day 3: On our last day before flying back, we visited Leonardo da Vinci's The Last Supper and the Leonardo da Vinci Museum of Science and Technology.
In the evening, we took the metro to the airport and flew back to Amsterdam.
Visit to Milan
My visit to Milan was a wonderful experience filled with culture and art. This city is characterized by a unique blend of history and modernity, and you can see famous landmarks like the breathtakingly beautiful Milan Cathedral (Duomo) with its grand architectural design.
I enjoyed strolling through the charming streets where upscale shops and cafes add character. Visiting the 'Naviglio' area, where you can enjoy the vibrant atmosphere along the canal banks, was special.
Dining experiences were special as I tasted traditional Italian dishes like risotto and pizza. The flavors were truly rich.
I recommend everyone to visit Milan to enjoy its beauty and rich culture. It's an unforgettable city! 🏛️🍝
Milan is the shopping capital 🛍️
#travelshopping
Shopping in Milan was everything I dreamed of and more! As the fashion capital of the world, the city is a paradise for shopaholics like me. I started at the iconic Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, with its stunning glass dome and luxury stores like Prada and Louis Vuitton. Even if you’re just window-shopping, the atmosphere is incredible. For high fashion, Via Montenapoleone is the place to be, filled with designer boutiques.
Prices range from affordable high-street brands to some eye-popping luxury, but there's something for every budget. I also loved wandering around the Brera district for unique boutiques and vintage finds. Don’t miss the Duomo, which is just a short walk away—perfect for a sightseeing break between shopping sprees. Milan really knows how to combine style and culture! 🛍️👜✨

One of the beautiful indigo hotels I have came across
#100WaysOfTravel
Except for the room that is not big, it is a very beautiful Indigo. The location is about one stop away from the cathedral, and it is a 13-minute walk from the subway. It takes 10-15 minutes to walk directly to the cathedral.
The old building has been renovated and transformed into a super beautiful garden + restaurant. There are not many facilities in other public areas. The rooms are quite beautiful, and the decoration is very good. In particular, all the cabinets and doors are made into hidden walls, which looks very simple and high-end. The decoration style of most Indigo in Italy is a bit similar to this one. It feels like living in a representative That's enough.
Watch ballet at Scala theater Milan
Let's talk about the theater. I won't say much about history. Let's talk about my observations, feelings and suggestions.
Seats that night: 15 seats in row J in the main hall
The old theater pays attention to the sense of history, and the design must have defects: the slope is not enough, the spacing between the rows is too small, and the front and rear seats are also good. The back of the head of the front seat just blocks the center of the stage (see the tail picture), stretching out his neck and tilting his head to watch the performance. In fact, this is a problem that many old European theaters have.
It's a little small, and the facilities are relatively simple. Everyone is crowded in the lobby at the entrance to drink in the midfield, which is different from the Vienna Opera and Paris Garnier.#100WaysOfTravel
Europes most famous cathedral
Walking through Milan is a captivating experience. The city blends historical elegance with modern charm. As you stroll through the cobblestone streets, you’ll pass iconic landmarks like the Duomo di Milano, an architectural masterpiece. Nearby, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II offers luxury shopping and beautiful design. Navigating through the city’s vibrant neighborhoods, such as Brera with its art galleries, or Navigli with its canals, reveals Milan's artistic soul. Street cafes invite you to pause and enjoy Italian espresso, while the city's bustling energy keeps you moving, exploring every corner of its rich history and contemporary style.

My recommendation for the best time in this colorful delightful country
Flight to Naples (or Napoli how locals say). Two days here will be more than enough))
• taste the best pizza in whole world in
This pizzeria was featured in the movie “Eat. Pray. Love”
• take a cable car to Vesuvius
• see the “Sin City” Pompeii, the biggest archaeological site in the entire world, famous for its catastrophic ending by the volcano Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D
Take a train to Rome, it’s only 2,5 hours
In Rome do as Romans do))
Kidding) but it’s so many things to do in Rome so I’ll make another post but definitely recommend you to spend at least 3 nights here
Next stop is Florence (train again)
• see Duomo and Michelangelo’s David
• visit Uffizi Gallery if you lucky enough to get tickets
• try best gelato in Italy
And next train takes you to fashion capital of Italy - Milano
• do as much shopping as you can
• visit Duomo roof during the sunset
• enjoy “dolce far niente” (happiness from doing nothing)
A 'Tear-Jerking' Architectural Marvel
Located in Milan, Italy, the cathedral is considered one of the most magnificent Gothic churches in the world. Construction began in the 14th century and took five centuries to complete, showcasing the essence of Gothic architecture. The exterior is intricately detailed with over 3,400 exquisite sculptures, leaving visitors in awe. The interior is equally opulent, featuring soaring vaults, stained glass windows, and a grand altar. Standing inside feels like being in a towering stone paradise, bringing tears to one's eyes. This 'most beautiful cathedral' in Milan is undoubtedly a dream pilgrimage site for every traveler.
Milan | Hidden museum in the centre of Milan with big garden
Villa Necchi Campiglio is one of the most beautiful museums in the centre of Milan with the open air swimming pool and the beautiful garden.
In the building, there are living room, study, bathroom and also the place for clothing. You can see a variety of old pieces with elegant design and beautiful details.
I really like the design of bathroom with window and light, and the design is very classic.
If you have time and love architecture, the museum is the must visit place.

Naviglio Grande is one of Milan's most famous and historic canals
Naviglio Grande stretches from the Darsena, Milan’s historic dock, to the town of Abbiategrasso, covering about 50 kilometers. The canal itself dates back to the 12th century and was originally constructed to transport goods and materials into the city. Today, it is a central part of the Navigli district, which is characterized by its narrow, cobblestone streets, historic buildings, and an abundance of cafes, restaurants, and boutiques. The canal's ambiance changes throughout the day. In the morning, it’s quiet and peaceful, offering a serene setting for a leisurely walk or a coffee by the water. As the day progresses, the area becomes livelier, especially in the evening when the bars and restaurants fill up with people enjoying aperitivo, Milan's beloved pre-dinner drink and snack ritual. #100waysoftravel

In the heart of Milan, my journey through Duomo di Milano was a captivating blend of history, art, and breathtaking views. As I ascended the stairs to the terraces, the cityscape unfolded beneath me, a modern metropolis juxtaposed against the timeless beauty of the cathedral’s spires.
The sculptures adorning the exterior told tales of craftsmanship and dedication. Each intricately carved figure seemed to breathe life into the stone, whispering stories of the artisans who had left their mark over the centuries. It was a tangible connection to the past, a living testament to the city’s rich history.
Reaching the terraces, the panoramic view was nothing short of enchanting. Milan stretched out in all directions, a vibrant canvas of life and culture. The juxtaposition of ancient architecture against the backdrop of a modern cityscape created a visual symphony that left me in awe.
Inside the cathedral, the play of sunlight through stained glass bathed the space in a kaleidoscope of colors. The air was filled with a sense of reverence as I wandered through the vast interior, marveling at the intricate details of the chapels and the soaring arches above.
Duomo di Milano was not merely a structure; it was an immersive experience that transcended time. Each step carried me through centuries of history. imagine they spent over 6 centuries to hike it 😍🙀😻. Each glance revealed the artistry of those who had contributed to its creation. It was a day where the beauty of the view, the allure of the sculptures, and the richness of history converged, creating a memory etched in the tapestry of my travels.
I definitely recommend to buy a tickets together with roof visit, because it contains the most of that beauty, which I explained above! Enjoy it! :)

I definitely recommend to buy a tickets to the top 🔝 upstairs, it’s a pure beauty, combined with city view, which I explained above. :)

It is without doubt that the Duomo in Milan is unrivaled in Italy in terms of complexity. It is the second largest church in the whole country.
I’ve always wanted to visit the Duomo and admire its intricate Gothic structure, and I must say, it was indeed well worth a visit!
Overall, the Duomo is truly a remarkable architectural gem which leaves its visitors in awe of its grandeur.
