Day Trip Itinerary for Harare
Trip to Sandton – The Glamorous Heart of Johannesburg
My recent trip to Sandton was a vibrant blend of luxury, culture, and convenience. Often referred to as the “richest square mile in Africa,” Sandton truly lives up to its reputation.
Where I Stayed
I stayed in a modern hotel right in the center of Sandton, within walking distance of Sandton City Mall and Nelson Mandela Square. The area is safe, with 24/7 security, and has a polished, international feel. My accommodation was clean, stylish, and perfect for both work and relaxation.
Things I Did
Shopping & Dining: Sandton City Mall is a shopping paradise! From high-end global brands to local boutiques, it has it all. I enjoyed everything from gourmet burgers to authentic African dishes at the restaurants nearby.
Mandela Square: The iconic statue of Nelson Mandela is a must-see. The square is lively with street performers, live music, and a beautiful setting for outdoor dining.
Evening Vibes: I had dinner at a rooftop restaurant with a beautiful city view—Sandton really comes alive at night! There are plenty of upscale lounges and cocktail spots for a night out.
Getting Around
Transport was very convenient. I used ride-hailing apps to move around, and traffic was manageable during the day. Most places in Sandton are quite walkable if you’re staying central.
Tips
Dress smart-casual—Sandton has an upscale vibe.
Try to explore nearby areas like Rosebank or Maboneng if you have time.
Be sure to carry a card—most places are cashless.
