The Miagao Church is a Baroque Spanish-era churches located in Miagao, Iloilo, Philippines. The church was declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site on December 11, 1993. Miagao Church was built from 1787 to 1797 to protect the people from the Moro invaders. The church's foundation is 6 meters deep and the massive stone walls is 1.5 meters thick. Where to stay: Iloilo City has plenty of hotels to choose from. I stayed in Go Hotel for convenience. Robinson's Mall is just next to the hotel. The First Church we visited in Miagao. One of the oldest churches around iloilo. Built in the 1700s, the carvings are made intricately and detailed descriptions of the history that took place around it. It was one of the meaningful visit. I got to lit a candle and prayed. 😊❤️

#summervacation I went on a trip to Iloilo and found one of the oldest church in town. It was built even before I was born, it amazed me that it still in its prestine condition.

The Santo Tomas de Villanueva Parish or Miagao church is a UNESCO World Heritage site, known for its strikingly unique facade that comprises of a well-elaborated bas relief that features a mix of medieval Spanish, Chinese, Muslim and traditional local elements. The church is attached to two massive belfries at its both ends that are unequal in size, which serve as watchtowers. The ochre color that blankets the church is produced by the limestone, coral, egg and adobe materials that make up the entire structure.
