Hidden gem in Italy 🇮🇹

This is the Bay of San Fruttuoso di Camogli, Italy. It is a small beach dominated by an ancient abbey, between Camogli and Portofino. You can arrive by boat at the Bay of San Fruttuoso, embarking from the neighbouring towns or from Genoa. San Fruttuoso is in a protected marine area, The water is of a crystalline transparency. 300 metres from the beach and 15 metres deep, there is the Christ of the Abyss, a statue sanked into the water. The diving to admire it up close is also suitable for medium-experienced divers, given the shallow depth, but it can only be carried out guided by certified companions. You can also arrive to San Fruttuoso by trekking. You could either hike here through the inland route or take a quick 30 minutes or so of ferry to San Fruttuoso. There is not much to do here except for a museum monastery and a small beach. Unfortunately because we hiked here. By the time we reached in the noon, the tiny beach was packed with tourists. But the hike is the best part. Extraordianry views along the way. It can be a bit challenging for those who are not used to. But once you get here you can laze around the beach. Perhaps taking a boat early in the morning or starting sooner would allow for space on the beach. There are a couple of decently priced restaurants too. All in all it can make for a pretty nice day out. It's between Genoa and Portofino. It can be a bit of a hidden gem, had it not been for the ferry making it easy to get here. The ship was built in 1985 for Roman Polanski's film Pirates, where she portrayed the Spanish ship of the same name. Neptune docked in Genoa.

🙏 Statue of Jesus Christ, under water.

This is 2.50 meters, you read that right, it is a 2.5 METRES TALL bronze statue of Jesus Christ, which is under water. A favorite place for deep sea divers, and definitely one of the strange places around the world situated underwater. It is a submerged bronze statue of Jesus Christ by Guido Galletti and is one of the best tourist spots in Italy for thrill seekers. The original copy of the same is located in the Mediterranean Sea, off San Fruttuoso, between Camogli and Portofino. The original Il Cristo degli Abissi, or Christ of the Abyss, was lowered into the Mediterranean Sea on August 22, 1954, just off San Fruttuoso on the Italian Riviera. The bronze statue was the work of Guido Galletti, inspired by a concept by Italian diver Duilio Marcante. It was to represent Christ in the new world below the waves, a memorial for all those who had lost their lives at sea and a monument to those who continued to dive beneath it. Seven years later, a second bronze sculpture was cast from the same mold. Like the original, it was submerged, this time off the coast of St. George’s, Grenada, in the southeastern Caribbean Sea. It was placed on October 22, 1961, a gift from Italy in recognition of the Italian crew saved from the sinking of the M.V. Bianca C, a passenger ship that had sunk off St. George’s earlier that year. A third incarnation, again cast from the original mold, was submerged on August 25, 1965. This time the underwater location was near Dry Rocks in the John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, Key Largo (which, incidentally, was the first underwater park in the United States). The statue was donated to The Underwater Society of America by the Italian dive equipment manufacturer Egidio Cressi.

Port of Genoa

The Port of Genoa is the most famous seaport of Italy, in competition with the ports of Marseille and Barcelona in the Mediterranean Sea, it is the busiest port of Italy after the port of Trieste by cargo tonnage. Set along the Ligurian Sea, Porto Antico is a buzzy harbor packed with attractions such as an outdoor live music venue, a film museum, and a covered seasonal skating rink. It’s flanked by seaside shops, casual bars, and eateries, and is home to the sprawling Aquarium of Genoa and the dome-shaped overwater Biosfera zoo. There's also a marina, a ferry terminal, and a 17th-century Spanish galleon replica. The Bigo panoramic lift was designed by the Genoese architect Renzo Piano.
