Lille, a city full of French romance and historical charm. My trip to Lille was particularly memorable because I stayed at the L'Hermitage Gantois hotel.
When I stepped into this hotel, I was instantly attracted by its unique temperament. The old building exudes the precipitation of the years, as if telling the story of the past few hundred years. The 600-year-old monastery, which has been transformed into a hotel, retains its solemnity and mystery. Every stone and every pillar bears the memory of history.
The interior design of the hotel is exquisite and comfortable. The rooms are spacious and bright, and the layout is warm, allowing people to find a quiet harbor in the tired journey. The service is also first-class, the staff is enthusiastic and thoughtful, making people feel warm.
The hotel's garden is a quiet oasis with shady trees and blooming flowers. Here, you can enjoy the beauty of nature and relax. The swimming pool brings a touch of coolness to the hot summer, swimming in it, as if all the troubles are thrown away.

I took a day trip from Paris to Lille, and it rained heavily all day. I braved the rain and walked around for the whole day.
I don't think you need a guide for Lille's old town, just wander around. We stayed for four or five hours and almost walked everywhere, some roads we even walked three times. If it's a nice day, the old town should be really picturesque. When the lights come on at night, it feels like the Palace of Versailles has been recreated, but it's actually just a shop next to the small square in the old town.
This post mainly talks about food, first the name: L'Orange Bleue, 30 Rue Lepelletier, 59800 Lille (Google Maps reservation)
It was recommended by a local in Lille, we first booked lunch and found everything was delicious, so we booked dinner too, so the next few pictures are all of this restaurant, the environment is also great, we ordered a full set menu (36.6 euros) at night, and we were so full we couldn't walk. We asked the waiter to recommend a red wine, I forgot to take a picture but it was really good.

"Old Charm, New Life: A Magical Journey at L'Hermitage Gantois, Autograph Collection"
When I set foot in Lille, France, I was full of anticipation as I pushed open the doors of L'Hermitage Gantois, Autograph Collection. A unique experience was about to unfold.
The hotel, a 600-year-old former monastery, was like a mysterious treasure waiting to be discovered. As I stepped into the lobby, the ancient stone pillars and modern decor blended perfectly, as if telling a story of time. Sunlight streamed through the stained glass windows, casting mottled shadows and creating a dreamy atmosphere.
The room was exquisitely decorated and luxurious. The soft bed made me feel like I was sleeping on a cloud. When I opened the window, I was greeted by a beautiful garden. The lush greenery, vibrant flowers, and tranquil fountain painted a beautiful picture. Here, time seemed to stand still, and I could fully enjoy the peace and beauty.
The hotel's swimming pool was the perfect place to relax. The clear water sparkled in the sunlight. As I swam, I felt the gentle touch of the water, and all my fatigue disappeared. The 24-hour butler service made me feel even more warm and comfortable. They always appeared when I needed them most, helping me solve various problems.
The nearby Palais des Beaux-Arts de Lille and Natural History Museum added a strong cultural flavor to my journey. As I strolled through the ancient streets, I felt the historical heritage and modern vitality of Lille. I felt like I had become a part of the city.
L'Hermitage Gantois, Autograph Collection is not just a hotel, but also a palace of art and a witness to history. Here, I experienced the perfect combination of old charm and new life, and had an unforgettable time. It's like a dazzling pearl embedded in the land of Lille, exuding unique charm. I look forward to meeting it again and embarking on another magical journey.

An iconic spot in Lille
I am so impressed by the architecture during my trip to France. Be it the cathedrals or squares or even older buildings that have turned into something. Like in the case of La Vielle Bourse. What a beautiful building. A perfect example of gorgeous Flemish architecture. And if that wasn't a reason enough, what a fine vibe around this place!
It's fascinating to see people with an interest in books. The area around has got plenty of coffee shops, retail outlets and a lively atmosphere. There is a market inside the building which i explored. It sells old books and vintage records. Very picturesque spot.
I'm told it was even the stock exchange back in the days and so it has a symbolic importance to the history of Lille. There were people playing chess, friendly locals who spoke to me and told me so much about Lille. I even got invited for a meal. Such a place cannot be missed. Plus it's all free! I don't see any reason why you won't stop by here if you're in Lille.

Fantastic museum!
This is a very well managed musuem with a vast collection of pictures and artefacts. During our 3 nights of stay in Lille, the Palaix des Beaux arts was amongst the most impressive of experiences. The security was done well and in terms of facilities i noticed it is even accessible to those with a wheel chair. I noticed a whole group of people on wheel chairs visiting it. I think it's fantastic.
At the museum the lower level can be visited free orf cost. If it peaks your curiosity, you may go ahead and explore the upper levels. I think for a collection of this quality, the 7 euros felt very worth it. I have spent ridiculous amounts of money for the entrance excuse to places that don't deserve it at all (hagia sophia in Istanbul for instance). So, in summary if you are going to be in Lille, this museum should definitely be on the itinerary.

A different kind of a museum!
What an interesting hospital museum! At 4 bucks for an entry, this made for a good deal. It's a quirky one. The art installations alongside the historical context of the museum. It tells you more about lille's hidden history. Very different from the conventional museum experience.
It's got a very pretty courtyard and the permanent exhibitions are very interesting. It was unplanned for us to visit this, and was actually headed to the Palais des Beaux arts. But I just couldn't ignore the idea of a museum stop. Be prepared for some strange looking art as well. If you have the time, it's definitely worth stopping by. Doesn't cost much too.

Very unique Cathedral!
With the extended roaming across Europe, more specifically France. I thought i was running the risk of an overdose of church and cathedrals. So I wasn't looking forward to much when I visited the notre Damme de la treille. Instead, it turned out to be a very interesting experience. This cathedral is very different from what I had seen. Of course there are similarities or resemblance you can spot.
You see the west facade is very unusual. It is completely different from the other side. Apparently, it was constructed post the world war. There is artwork included in the cathedral and the lights too are unusual. The reason why I say it is unique, is because this is not your traditional French cathedral. Much more Neo gothic architecture and style. It's definitely worth a look.

Lille (France), Christmas destination

Let’s stay in France but this time we are going to the northwest of the country, Lille, capital of the Upper France region. This proposed destination I hold dear to my heart because it’s where I studied abroad. I had the pleasure of living in Lille for several months, including December, the month in which the city is filled with lights, the smell of vin chaud and a magical atmosphere.
At the Christmas market, which takes place in Place Rihour, you can taste delicacies such as crêpes, gaufres, tartiflette and raclette. Another of the great attractions of spending Christmas in Lille is the huge 50 meter high Ferris wheel that is set up at the Grand Place. I highly recommend going up to enjoy the views of the city. It’s amazing!
Dates Lille Christmas Market: from November 22nd to December 31st 2023

I was initially hesitant to try this restaurant because of the lower ratings but am not disappointed to give this place a try!

If you are lucky, you can experience the feeling of holding a small xenon lamp on the spot! And I experienced knocking on the drums and it was so enjoyable.
Especially the children will also participate in this traditional festival, so that it can be passed down from generation to generation!
It is worth mentioning that I also went to the Akita Food Festival and enjoyed a variety of snacks before and after watching the show.
During the Lantern Festival, the Omachi event square is filled with various gourmet food stalls.
specialty cut Puying pot, Akita sake, Akita specialty fried tofu hot pot, Yokohama fried noodles, Akita beef. There is also a grandma ice cream that can be tasted here, a big rose flower.
Lilles Charles de Gaulle Square has a very fairytale building. This is a long time ago exchange. I was curious and walked in and found that it is now a transaction place! There are a variety of new book second-hand books, as well as beer mugs, teacups, posters, and people who like Taobao. You must be very happy to come here.
Lille is the capital of the French region of Flanders. Since 2004, the old town of Lille has also become the "cultural capital of Europe". After two world wars, although it was largely destroyed, it was re-emerged after the construction of future generations. Most of the monumental buildings and buildings have 17th and 18th century colors, and bricks and carved stones are mixed.
