La Geria is a 5,255-hectare area located in the geographical center of Lanzarote, a Spanish island in the Atlantic Ocean. It is situated between Yaiza and San Bartolomé, on the edge of the Timanfaya National Park. La Geria is the largest wine-growing region in the Canary Islands and is known for its unique vineyards, which are cultivated in volcanic ash. The volcanic ash is spread over the ground, and then each vine is planted in a funnel-shaped pit that is dug into the ash. The pits are designed to protect the vines from the strong winds that blow across the island. The walls of the pits are made from volcanic stones, which help to retain moisture in the soil. The vines are trained to grow low to the ground, and they are pruned to protect them from the sun and wind. #christmastrip

Discovering the history of the Salinas 🇮🇨

The Salinas de Janubio is the largest salt production facility in the Canary Islands, located on the southwest coast of Lanzarote, Spain. The salt gardens were built in 1895 and are terraced to take advantage of the natural tidal pools in the area. The Salinas de Janubio is a unique place where visitors can learn about the process of salt production and the history of the island. The site also offers guided tours that provide deeper insights into the Salinas and their history, as well as tastings of “Flor de Sal” and “Sabores de Janubio”. The Salinas de Janubio is open to visitors from Monday to Friday from 10 am to 6 pm and on Saturdays from 11 am to 5 pm. The entrance fee varies based on age and residency status. Visitors can also enjoy a meal at the Mirador de Las Salinas restaurant, which offers stunning views of the surrounding area. #christmastrip

We loved it so much that we watched the Orco show twice!

The story of Sanmao and Gran Canaria.

Sanmao, a person who lived her life as if the "poetry and the distance" in many people's hearts were the most ordinary days. She, who wandered all her life, chose to stay in a small seaside town on Gran Canaria, Spain: Telde. She lived here for many years, and many stories were written on this island. Today, there is still her former residence (p4) on the island. Another "beautiful island" in the Canary Islands, La Palma, is the last paradise on earth for Sanmao and Jose (p8, Sanmao's former residence Rocamar Apartment 306). Green hills speak of parting in new words

On the last day of our trip, we planned a long hiking route, determined to take one last vigorous walk. The route is 13 kilometers long, and if you discount the beginning and end, the middle section is almost a flat path laid out halfway up the mountain, then it descends to the beach, and finally enters a valley before climbing back up to the starting point, which is quite strenuous. This route is quite famous, not only because you can enjoy both sea and mountain views along the way, but also because the path is not too difficult, resulting in a higher number of visitors (compared to being completely deserted)! While playing on the beach, we didn't notice that the originally clear sky had stealthily filled with dark clouds, quietly pressing in from behind. We hurried on our way, but it was too late, and the raindrops pitter-pattered from sparse to dense, and in just about ten minutes, several mountain paths had turned into streams. Wearing soaked clothes and shivering from the cold, I comforted myself: This isn't rain, it's just heaven not wanting to let us go tomorrow, crying a storm! With that thought, I didn't feel so unlucky anymore. Overall, the scenery of the Canary Islands can be very beautiful, but there are also many places that are truly ugly! Banana houses covered with plastic tarps everywhere, haphazardly constructed buildings, and nearly bare mountain ranges... Staying for two or three months is fine, but any longer would feel confining and oppressive! After all, an island is an island, and once you've seen it all, there's nowhere else to go! Of course, we would still like to come again, to properly walk all the paths of the island, because, after all, its beauty is intoxicating!

Lanzarote is a very special small island, with variously shaped cacti, black sand beaches, crimson land, blue sea, green lakes, and active volcanoes all perfectly blended here. Lanzarote is a breathtaking island in the Canary Islands, volcanic ash almost covers the entire island, there are circular volcano craters everywhere, large areas of black volcanic lava are endless, the moment you step on the island is like stepping on the moon.
