Strange but true, the name is Wat Chiang Rai but it is in Lampang Province. Confused? Wat Chiang Rai is located in Suan Dok, Mueang Lampang District, Lampang Province. According to historical evidence, Wat Chiang Rai was built around 2200 B.E. by Phraya Chomphu, the son of Chao Phraya Mahayot (Cheng Kochaseni), who migrated from Chiang Saen to Lampang with his family. He later built this temple to commemorate the city of Chiang Rai that he had left. This is the origin of Wat Chiang Rai in Lampang Province. The area of ​​Wat Chiang Rai is outstanding with the white chapel decorated with white stucco patterns and small pieces of glass that sparkle beautifully when light hits them.
