Conquer Khao Wong Phra Chan, 3,790 steps
#GetDiscountsWithoutLuck
One evening in the pizza circle, we agreed to accept the challenge to conquer Khao Wong Phra Chan.
The mountain is only 5-600 meters high. The path is easy, no need to climb, there are stairs all the way.
There are only 3,790 steps. 😱
Pin Wat Khao Wong Phra Chan, located in Huai Pong Subdistrict, Khok Samrong District, Lop Buri Province. The temple is at the bottom. On the top of the mountain, there are footprints of the Buddha and various religious statues. You can park in the temple grounds.
Start walking up at 4 pm (too early, the sun is still hot, around 5 pm would be better). There weren't many people because it wasn't a festival.
The path is made of concrete stairs all the way, some low, some high, mostly with handrails. Both sides of the path are open forests with moderate shade. There are shops selling food, drinks, and various equipment, but during festivals, only a few shops are open. Most of them are kind. If you don't buy anything, they invite you to sit and rest. There are garbage disposal points all along the way. When it gets dark, there will be solar-powered lights, but they aren't very bright.
Most importantly, there are signs at intervals to let you know how close we are to our goal, which gives us a lot of encouragement.
Advice for non-hikers At the beginning, you still have enough energy. You have to control yourself and walk slowly. Don't go fast. Otherwise, you will run out of energy in no time. Your heart rate will skyrocket and you won't want to go any further.
Recommended essentials:
- Cold water (1 bottle is enough. They are sold at intervals along the way. The price is higher than usual, but it's better than carrying it yourself.)
- Energy-boosting snacks, such as nuts and dried fruits, in case you run out of energy before you reach the shop.
- Handkerchiefs because you sweat a lot. Personally, you need to wear a headband to prevent sweat from getting into your eyes.
- Flashlights if you go early in the morning or evening.
❌ Umbrellas, hats, jackets, gloves, and fans are not necessary. They will be more of a burden than a benefit.
The younger siblings who went with me spent about 2 hours walking. For an elderly person like me, it took 3 and a half hours.
We got to pay respect to the footprints of the Buddha and gained the belief that how far a person can go depends on their heart, not their legs.
