It was established on August 8, 1979 by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great. Its objective is to be a learning and development center for agriculture. It focuses on studying, experimenting, researching, and transferring knowledge that is appropriate for the environment so that farmers and the general public can apply it in their daily lives.
The center plays an important role in improving sandy soil areas for agriculture. It works in collaboration with various agencies such as the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Agricultural Extension, the Royal Forest Department, the Department of Fisheries, and the Department of Livestock Development to provide knowledge and training to people in all professions. It is like a "living natural museum."
