I took the ferry from Split early in the morning. During the hour-long journey, the Adriatic Sea shattered into a thousand pieces of blue glass. The entire city of Hvar lay spread out beneath my feet—orange-red roofs, a deep blue bay, and scattered sailboats, like a palette carelessly overturned by God. In the afternoon, many tourists plunged into Pokonji dol Bay, the water so clear that I could count the fine sand between my toes. On the beach, I heard Italian tourists toasting the arrival of summer with champagne flutes. #summervacay My Croatian island-hopping day, initially hyped for the Blue Cave, took an unexpected turn but became incredibly serene. Our yacht sped across the deep blue Adriatic, with me enjoying the peaceful co-pilot's view while others dozed or cheered.
