#FukuokaPrefecture #YoshinogariRuins I went to Fukuoka City Museum and Yoshinogari Ruins to see the Golden Seal. It takes about 30 minutes from Hakata Station to the Fukuoka City Museum by bus terminal. The museum's south exit is much closer than the museum's north exit. The entrance fee is 200 yen, and the exhibits range from the Yayoi period to the present day Gion Yamakasa, making it very easy to see and enjoy the colors. The Golden Seal is on display right after you enter. When I went to the National Treasure Exhibition a long time ago, there were so many people that I couldn't take my time looking at it, but now you can see the details on the touch panel. The next day, I changed trains at Tosu and went to Yoshinogari Park Station in Saga Prefecture to see the long-awaited Yoshinogari Ruins. I saw the buildings and jar coffins that were reproduced based on the thickness and height of the pillars, and learned about the high standard of living and wisdom of the time. I was very impressed to see that the foundation of our modern life has remained almost unchanged since the Jomon and Yayoi periods, and that the wisdom of ancient people is utilized in the lifestyle we live in today. It was by no means barbaric, and Himiko, who ruled a large country, was the first to send an envoy to China and received various gifts, and is now a national treasure in Japan. In the evening, we had a shellfish course with hot sake at Hanayoshisan, which serves shellfish and motsu nabe, which have been eaten since the Jomon and Yayoi periods, and then we had foamy ramen at Ikkosha and champon, Sendai beef tongue at Hakata Station, Yamanaka's crab sushi bento on the Shinkansen, and bought many souvenirs from Hakata, making it a very satisfying and enjoyable trip. I often forget to take photos of the food, but the main attraction is the Yoshinogari ruins, so the photos are modest, but in the summer there is a barbecue zone, a playground, and an experience zone, so it looks like it would be fun for friends, groups, and families. There is a free bus (every 10 minutes or so) that runs around the park on weekends and holidays, so you don't have to worry about the vast grounds. It's a wonderful place. Please come and visit...

For those who are interested in history. This is a huge park in Saga prefecture. There many areas and it seems especially good to take kids to spend the day. There is a replica of a Yayoi era (200 BC - 300 AD) village. There's some information in English but most of it is in Japanese. Since the grounds are huge, there's a bus every 20 minutes running around the park. The staff is super friendly and go out of their way to make your experience a nice one. There are 2 parking lots. Parking at the East (main) entrance is more convenient. Entrance fee for adults is 410 yen (as of August 2022). If you like history, that's a great place to spend a few hours.

#Saga #YoshinogariRuins I visited on March 5th. Yoshinogari Ruins is a famous Yayoi period ruin that is even featured in history textbooks, and you can learn about the life and history of that time. You can enter the pit dwellings and climb the towers, so you can experience what life was like at that time. Also, although it was due to my lack of research, it was larger than I expected and it took quite a long time to go around the whole area. There is a free bus that runs within the park (within the ruins), so I recommend taking it to see around.

🌿 Visited 'Ume no Hana Buffet Hotaru' in Kanzaki City, Saga Prefecture 🥢 This is a buffet-style restaurant by 'Ume no Hana,' known for its yuba and tofu dishes. You can enjoy a variety of healthy dishes made with ingredients like tofu, yuba, fresh wheat gluten, and locally sourced vegetables to your heart's content 🫢💕 There's a board in front of the restaurant where you write your name to reserve a spot. [A mini time slip at Yoshinogari ruins] I went to Yoshinogari ruins in Saga! It's like a time slip back to the Jomon and Yayoi periods. #0yentravel This time, I walked from Yoshinogari Park Station to the Yoshinogari ruins. The restored pit dwellings and raised-floor storehouses are lined up on a large site, and walking around made me feel like I was experiencing life in the Yayoi period. At the museum, I was able to learn more about the excavated items and what life was like at the time, and since I had already walked around the ruins, it felt even more real. It was impressive to see the signs of people gathering and living there in the laid-back scenery. It was larger than I expected, and I'm glad I took the time to look around.

#YoshinogariHistoryPark On December 4, 2023, I had the honor of visiting Yoshinogari Historical Park, a major archaeological landmark of great archaeological significance. Excavations of the site began in 1986, and the site was designated a National Special Historic Site because of its size and the number of artifacts unearthed. The main feature of this historical park is the carefully reconstructed buildings that recreate the original appearance of the Yayoi (Iron Age) settlement. Even though excavation and research are still ongoing, visitors can already admire many reconstructed buildings, including towers, residences, city walls, etc. The buildings are an amazing reconstruction of structures including tall buildings, storehouses, ceremonial halls, tombs and a watchtower. When I stepped into Yoshinogari Historical Park, it was as if I was walking into the fascinating history of Japan. I walked along the carefully reconstructed ancient streets and felt the atmosphere of life during the Yayoi period. I saw their homes, workplaces and storage buildings, which showed the organization and lifestyle of the society at that time. In addition to the buildings, there is also a watchtower in the park, which allows me to have a panoramic view of the ruins. I climbed up the lookout tower and looked out over the vast site, getting a sense of the scale and importance of this ancient settlement. Looking out from the tower, I saw the reconstructed buildings and the surrounding natural landscape, which made me feel more connected to the past time. During my visit to Yoshinogari Historical Park, I was deeply attracted by the unique atmosphere of this ancient site. The reconstruction work here gave me a glimpse into the culture and lifestyle of the Yayoi period, which was a rare opportunity for me who is interested in Japanese history. I felt satisfied after completing my exploration of Yoshinogari Historical Park. [Yoshinogari Ruins] This is one of the largest Yayoi period ruins in Japan! Many of you may remember learning about it in elementary school history classes. The site recreates a Yayoi period "kuni" (country), with countless buildings lined up. You can also tour the inside of a real burial mound (a Yayoi period grave), and there are plenty of souvenirs and restaurants!
