Egypt hotel real review, fast
I stayed in five hotels during my trip to Egypt. Today, I'm sharing two of them with you 👇 and some super practical travel tips!
🗺Cairo: Turquoise Pyramid and Grand Egyptian Museum View Hotel
💰Price: Around 200
📍Location: Right next to the pyramids, very close to them!
🏨The hotel isn't very large. When we checked in, we requested a double bed, but they said they didn't have one, only a king-size bed. Since we had to take a bus to Dahab that evening, we didn't mind. The rooms weren't large, but they were clean. The staff was very welcoming and even let us check in early, even though we arrived at noon. Overall, as a place to stay, I couldn't fault it. It's a great value, and you can see the pyramids up close.
💡Practical Tips:
If you're planning to visit the pyramids on your first day in Cairo, this hotel is a great choice. It saves travel time and allows you to fully rest and enjoy the pyramids. Transportation Tip: Some taxi drivers in Egypt may not use the meter, so be aware! ⚠️
🗺Dahab: Bodoun Moon Hotel
💰Price: Around 300
📍Location: Beachfront
🏨The staff was very welcoming, but we still booked a double room, only to find a king-size bed. The hotel has stunning views. We booked a sea view room, and the sea is visible from the terrace. The room has the sea in front and the mountains behind, which is truly unique. The staff was friendly and welcoming, knowing we were from China. Check-in was fast. One of the waiters was very cheerful and greeted us every day, even cleaning the room and didn't ask for tips. On our last day, when we checked out, we took a taxi and there was no driver. The front desk guy helped us find one, and it only cost 70 Egyptian pounds (taxi platforms charge 150-250 Egyptian pounds).
❌Cons: It's far from the center of town (bars and diving areas), and there's an unrepaired dirt road, which was a bit scary for two women walking at night. Also, the hotel water is salty! I always feel like I haven't washed my hair thoroughly, and the water tastes salty when I put it in my mouth. I've been doing this for three days. I'm asking my friends in Dahab, does the water in your hotel also use salty water? 😭
💡Practical Tips:
Accommodation Options: If you enjoy the tranquility of the seaside and a private ocean view, this hotel is perfect. However, if you want to be able to easily access the vibrant nightlife of the town, I recommend choosing a hotel close to town.
Travel Safety: I recommend renting a car. We each rented a bicycle, which was convenient, but a bit tiring to ride. They refused to rent an electric bike when we wanted one.
Daily Provisions: I recommend bringing travel-sized shampoo, shower gel, a toothbrush, and other disposable items. You can also bring a few large bottles of drinking water for washing and daily drinking.
💢💢💢Most importantly, bring an adapter. This time, I forgot to bring a UK plug, and it didn't work. They all use European plugs. I'll talk about the remaining hotels in the next post.
